  1. On the left side of the bike, pointing downward and tucked up underneath and behind the sync screws. Dave
  2. Glad to head that your protection did it's job. I second, third and fourth you recommendation that good riding gear be used!! Heal quickly!! Dave
  3. Shadow- I don't know what to recommend as far as getting you and your bikes to Las Vegas but others will soon chime in. Once you get to Vegas you can ride through So. Utah and see Zions, Bryce and Arches Nat'l parks. Arches is my favorite, but all are beautiful. Yellowstone will be 12-15 hours riding from Vegas depending on your speed and backside:rotf: If you do decide to go to Yellowstone, there are a number of rides in that area as well (Beartooth Pass, Chief Joseph and the park itself). You could always come join us for Venture West V next summer! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=28271 We are in the process of finalizing the dates right now. Good luck on your trip!! Dave
  4. Give us a holler if you come through SLC!! Dave
  5. Bob- I haven't read through all of this thread, so sorry if I'm repeating a question. I would be interested in a set of add on passenger arm rests. Not the set that is mounted on the trunk but added to the passenger hand grips. Dave
  6. If I remember correctly, a 1984 is the 1200 cc model and can have an issue with the electrical system. The issue I heard about was with the stator output connector going bad and damaging the stator. If the stator has good output, I would verify that the connector has been removed and the wiring spliced or I would do it soon after the purchase. Dave

    BACA

The site has been down since Sunday. I don't know what the issue is either but I'll be continuing to check it every now and then. Dave
  8. Actually - I had keyed the guys name in my PDA - ask for Luke Dave
  9. Garry- Here's the listed information: Yamaha Motor Corporation USA 6555 Katella Ave Cypress, CA 90630-5101 (714) 761-7300 I don't know of who to refer you to but there are some others that have been down this road. I would remind them that you didn't purchase your bike from Clarion but from Yamaha and it has a warranty that you expect them to honor. If Yamaha has an issue with Clarion, it's between them. Best of luck! Dave
  10. Bob- It's nice that the tire "guru" was willing to get with you and give his professional opinion. Should you end up remounting this tire correctly, I would recommend you ask him to send you an email regarding his opinion and then keep a copy of it until the tire is spent. If you should happen to have a premature tire failure, you can raise Cain with them about having to purchase a replacement earlier than you should have. You should at least be entitled to a prorated credit. Dave
  11. When my wife's Suzuki needed forks redone, I took it to a mechanic and had them done. The next year my son's Honda Silverwing needed new seals and he wanted to try and do it himself. I really turned out to be fairly straight forward. With good instructions (I bet you can get from the ViragoTech site) and patience you should be able to do it yourselves in just a couple of hours. The second one goes much faster than the first one you do. Only do one at a time so that 1) you don't mix parts and 2) if you do have questions on the order or direction of parts during reassembly, you can look at the other fork. We found having two of us helpful, escpecially when compressing the spring and putting the cap back on. Good Luck!! Dave
  12. Our prayers are with you Allen! Hang in there. Dave
  13. Wayne - Glad you're quick reations kept you safe and you're here to vent about it. Please feel free to use us as your blood pressure meds today. Next time you see that driver -- Drive safe! Dave
  14. I went to the local stealer and bought a spark plug tool (had to make sure it was long enough). It fit the plug perfectly and had a hexagon shape on the top end. With an inexpensive ratcheting wrench that fits the top end I can change out the plugs without any clearance issues. Dave
  15. Most people want to feel they are needed and appreciated. They strive to join together with others who have common interest and goals. This same need is why many join in gangs because they don't feel they can find acceptance at home or any place else. What part of Argentina does your niece live in. Both my son and I have lived in the Buenos Aires area. Dave
  16. Looks great!
  17. I don't know on the 1 Gens, but many stereo systems have two power supplies to them. The first is constant power regardless of the key position-this allows the system to maintain things like clock and presets. If this power is interupted by changing the battery or a blown fuse, or broken wire the presets are lost and reset to the factory defaults (usually the two extremes and some in the middle). The second power is connected to the key switch and will allow the stereo etc. to function only when the key is in the on position. Chances are that the power source that maintains the presets, has been lost. I wish I know which fuse or wire to tell you to test. Dave
  18. I'm using the MP3 input in place of the cassette and haven't noticed this problem. When you have the Nav unit plugged in, do you notice sound from both channels? Based on signal strength from the radio stations and in 3.5mm port, I could imagine that there would be a difference in the input side requiring you to turn up the volume on your IPOD etc., but to lose a channel is unexepected. If you check your NOV unit and don't have sound from both channels, I would double check your cable and make sure a wire or connection hasn't broken or come loose. If the connections are good, I would also check it against the wiring diagram (I've more than once connected thing up how the male connector should be rather how the female connector should be) It a very easy mistake, unlikely, but easy. Dave
  19. I did Beartooth last summer and rode it both directions going to and back from Billings. It's a great ride and beautiful views. I haven't done Chief Joseph yet. Next years Venture West looks likely to be held in Cody. I plan on hitting both rides then. We should know the VWV location after this weekend and then the dates will get chosen. If you haven't voted yet, now's the time! Either way, plan this rally into your schedule next summer. Dave
  20. It's looking great!! I look forward to seeing the other improvements you have on your list. Don't forget to ride, ride, ride. Winter is coming and you'll have time to work on the bike. Dave
  21. I'd bet he sucks that small tank dry in about 5 minutes:big-grin-emoticon: Dave
  22. Great looking young man there Dan!! Congrats! Dave
  23. Mini- I like the Brickstones! - for the dog to chew on. There, two down, one to go. I have the Metz and they have worked well for me so far (there has to be one in every crowd) and my son has the Avons and loves them. I'll probably go with the Avons next go round. Dave
  24. We missed you Dan, could have used another bike or two. Paul (Pegasus1300) from Lehi said the estimate was 1000 bikes. Awesome experience! Congrats on the the grandchild. Post some pics if you get the chance. Dave
  25. What a beautiful day for ride and I can't think of a better reason for a ride. Yesterday was the ride for Capt Terry of the Lehi police force that was shot in the head twice during a traffice stop. My daughter had been asking to go for a ride and yesterday was the day our schedules both worked and Pegasis1300 had let us know about this charity ride. So we packed up and decided to go. It was great to get there and find out that they would have to send us our T-shirt later on because the turn out had been significantly more than they anticipated! They estimated that over 400 bikes had shown up for this ride. Motorcycle officers from the Highway Patrol and other local forces showed up to help guide the ride. They shut down roads so that we could all get through. It amazed me that they took all of the bikes as one large group! What an enjoyable day.
