  1. I think what I would do would be to just cut the screws holding the garage off with your dremel or with the sonic, remove the garage, then remove what remains of the screws in the garage itself. Take the garage to a cabinet shop or someone with a fine blade table saw with a good table and trim to the necessar height. you may even wait till the new counter top is installed and then cut it to exact measurement. When you start cutting it in place and you run into the screws you are going to make a mess of your cut and you will ruin your blade.

    need help

we are in Mackinaw and I always carry a bag of tools in the trailers. I do appreciate the offer. So far the spray cleaner seems like the best Idea. Bob

yes it is building a vacuum and the bike runs again as soon as I remove the cap. The hole in the vent is very small. I have a very small allen wrench with me and even it is too big. I will stop by a parts store tomorrow and try the blaster ore some kind of cleaner. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE SUGGESTIONS. BOB

    need help

we are in michigan for the weekend and twice yesterday a vacuum built up in the gas tank and the bike quit while going down the road. I pulled the rubber vent hose off the top of the tank and blew through it and it is not plugged. trying to blow through the nipple on the top of the tank does not seem to be letting air in but the hole is very small. I can't say for sure if it is plugged and can't find anything small enough to push through the hole. any suggestions. got lucky yestday and the bike did not shut off going down 75. if anyone has any suggestions on how to check the vent let me know.
  5. this year while riding Escalante Staircase (spelling?) I lost mine. this was the first time in many years of riding I have had this happen. I flushed the fluid that night at the hotel and had no more trouble for the rest of the 6000 mile trip. A couple of weeks ago while riding in Pennsylvania it happened again. I just let them cool off and they were fine. Since i have never had this before I can't help but think there might be something else wrong.
  6. Try their cleaner/polish. I picked up a couple of bottles and took them on vacation.. good stuff and less expensive than some of the others.
  7. based on what you told us you probably could have ridden another 25 miles. I have taken mine to 5.4 gallon on a fill up. No because I wanted to but we found ourselves in the same situation as you. Usually you get really conservative with your riding when you get in that situation and that helps also. Obviously you would not have gotten that much more on the highway running faster speeds. bob
  8. I just did a 6000 mile ride with mine and it is a great windshield. I got behind a truck that was throughing gravel. He hit the bike and me and I though sure the windshield had to have some nicks. Nothing, it held up great. While your there pick up some of their windshield polish. It works great and is much less expensive than some of the others. Spray it on, wait a few seconds and the bugs just desolve. I didn't get it but they do have one with a vent. Bob:)
  9. I got it now. thanks for the help
  10. now that I have read a little closer, I see both the one Joe mentioned from Radio Shack and the amplirider both say they amplify and they split. Can I assume they are the same thing or what would the difference be between them, except one is $30 and the other is $65 Bob
  11. On the RSV you can only have one aux device working at a time. there is a multi port device that allows for more than 1 device to be plugged in ( GPS, Ipod etc) I saw some of them online awhile back but I can not locate any now. They ranged in price from $50-$100. This was a topic of conversation here on the forum at one time and I just can't find the thread or the devices.
  12. a device that will allow me to have more than 1 aux devices working at one time. Is anyone using 1 and does anyone recommend any one specifically. I want my GPS another audio device to work at the same time. Bob
  13. I bought it on line. It was shipped in a plastic bottle and in a padded shipping envelope. I was amazed how available it was and there was nothing about the shipping to indicate what was in the envelope. don't remember where I got it and it turned out the restrictors were bad in the tubes and I ended up throwing the gauges away .
  14. this is a picture of one of our stops while riding the "Avenue of the Giants" a couple of years ago. It is amazing! We rode down from Coos Bay along the coast almost to San Fran and then east to Yosemite. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3491/3783064247_57b81ef59d.jpg
  15. I started woodcarving a few years ago and I also do woodworking. The carving is good for taking your mind off things. You can sit in the living room and let the chips fly. Just get the sweeper out when your done. Both get my attention when I have the time. Bob
  16. I know several folks that have had it done and you already know how much better you will feel. Bob
  17. That is one of the lodges at Glacier National. It is the one Don is talking about. Very rustic but the most reasonable. Hard to believe the snow pile Don and Eileen are standing next to was about 50 deep at one point. I think that was right after the first of July. They had just opened the "Road to the Sun." Definitely go if you have the chance!
  18. If someone starts a thread about something that is being sold, and Don or another moderator sees and reads it, move it at that time to a specific location just for those types of threads. At that point they will be grouped together and easier to manage at a later date.
  19. to lub all the linkage as you have suggested.. I would hope that something that simple and something I should have been doing all along would take care of the problem
  20. I think that may be a good way to describe what mine does also. If I pull in on the clutch and shift slowly, it does not go smoothly into the next gear. I have always been used to going from 1 gear to another with a normal clunk. What I feel is coming out of 1 gear and then go into the next gear. almost like 2 different actions taking place. (hard to explain) I do feel this may be an internal problem..I know its not the shift lever. I guess this may be something I should look into sooner rather than later. Bob
  21. I have had a problem for several years on my "02" downshifting does not always work. I may be sitting at a light and downshifting or occasionally while moving and downshifting the shifter acts like I am already in first but I know I am not. the shifter just bottoms out without changing gears. letting out the clutch slightly or blipping the throttle will allow it to shift. I have wondered what this may be but didn't really want to get into it. we have riden many miles like this and it does not seem to get any worse. It also does not do it all the time. This has done this before and after changing clutches and pressure plate. I do not feel they are related. I am wondering now that I have read this thread if it does have something to do with the shifting fork.
  22. Looking at your pics, it looks like you had a great ride. Even with all your challenges and having to keep an eye on Rex it looks like you saw some great country. We are planning a ride from Ohio to NM, ARIZ, Utah and Colorado in the spring. We will be at some of the same places you just visited. Looking at your pictures makes me even more excited about going. Can't wait! Thanks Rick Bob
  23. We were in the area earlier this year and visited the ball field from the movie "Field of Dreams". It has been maintain exactly the same as when the movie was shot. We took a dinner cruise on the Mississippi in Dubuque, IL. Galena is a great town to visit. definitely redone for the tourist who shop and eat.
  24. I will try to clean the fuse holder... did you take the ptt button apart or how did you go about cleaning it? Bob
  25. I have had trouble with mine since shortly after being installed. If I hit a bump it goes off. another bump it comes back on. Loud squeal is common. I have checked every connection several times. my next step is to take the ptt switch apart and see if the problem is in there. I was told the problem couldn't be in the box itself and to check my connections. when it is working it is great. I do like having it and would like to figure out what the problem is. Let me know how anyone else makes out.
