  1. even if you think it is ok.... the engine is cold, the oil is cold. I have had troubel with mine is I try and start it cold with no charger on the battery... charge it, full choke and no throttle. it will couch and fire a few times but it will start. Bob
  2. for the advise on the software. I may just have to try that. Bob
  3. used it some but not alot... my issue is with editing. I have downloaded gopro cinema and apparently you have to convert the MP4 format to either mov or avi for editing purposes. I originally tried to convert to avi and it is massive. It used 23 gig of my hard drive and still hadn't finished... I tried converting to .mov format and it wouldn't open it to allow editing. At this point I have given up. I really would like to edit these videos, just don't know the best way to go about it.
  4. getting better.. should be in the mid 60s next week. You should have plenty of time to get it done. Be careful coming home.. powere outages are more the cleveland direction.. nothing here. Bob
  5. Let me just say I am not real pleased with Garmin right now. MY 550 froze up a few weeks ago, as many of them seem to do. When I got home I called them and we went through their dog and pony show, trying to decide if it was something they could fix over the phone. this was not possible and I shipped it back as part of their return and exchange program. I payed my 150 dollars and waited.. got the email tell me they got my unit and my refurbished unit would be shipped soon.. well first of all I read way way too many messages about these units locking up and having to be returned. I would say they must realize they have a problem and do something to solve this. Now I am seeing people with the newer units having the same problem. But I am the one that has to pay the $150. Now lets get to the first call to find out where my unit is. It seems the refurbished units are on backorder and there is no hope that they will even know if one is available until August 30. At that point they will have to see if they got enough to cover all the back ordered units. I may or may not get one of these and if not I will have to wait till there are enough available. The kicker is they do not send them in for repair until they have a certain quanity of them sent back..I thought this company had more on the ball than this!!
  6. I will play with the ones mentioned.. I am using a garmin 550. again thanks for your input.
  7. What progam are you all using to create routes and download to your garmin gps. I am thinking I may want to do more of this and don't see the download option in google maps or mapquest. Little help please! Bob

    "Green" Car

You probably didn't notice but Don has one of those on his back.. Eileen winds him up on Monday morning and he runs till about Friday. Usually by then he is starting to slow down and so he heads for home and gets wound up again. That's how she gets him to do anything.
  9. you can put the rent in escrow with the court. they will hold it till the repairs are made. Rental property usually has to be inspected by the building dept and certified that it can be lived in.. if the landlord has not had that inspection done or if he doesn't plan to do that, you may have a little leverage to persuade him to make the repairs.. at that point if he refuses, then tell him you will put the rent in escrow till the repairs are made.. you can not refuse to pay or tell him you are holding his rent yourself. that is gounds for eviction.
  10. We have been in Gatlinburg for new years several times and we love it. Couldn't work it out this year. Looks like the weather is going to be great this year with highs around 50. Looking at the web cams there does seem to be a lot of people this year. I am happy for anyone who is able to make it this year. Hope you enjoy the mountains as much as we do. Bob
  11. My first video was on the "Dragon". It worked out great.. ran into a guy at a pull of on the road to the Dragon and he set it up for me and we mounted it on my half helmet. Since then I have used it to record a picnic our motorcycle group had last summer and I recorded all my kids, grand kids and the rest of the family on Christmas day at the house... just set it on a shelf and let it run.. it has worked great for everything.
  12. We had several different seats on the bike before Rick did the upgrade. Thousands of miles later and I can still do a long day in the saddle.
  13. We use them with the half helmets and I like them fine. the speakers are pretty good quality and the mic does pick up wind. we have the mic mute so we just shut them off. My wife has complained about her ears getting sore. Mine seem to work just fine. I bought them from sierra electronics and they were around 75 dollars.
  14. We rode it last year along with Independence pass. ride either one or both. You can't go wrong. bob
  15. We did buy a couple of these to go with the half helmets.. the speakers are great but the mike is not as directional as the J.M.s....they tend to pick up wind noise. we have the mic-mute so when we are not talking we just shut the mikes off. I think they are going to be just fine, especially for the $75. Got them at Sierra electronics if any one is interested. Bob
  16. We rode in that area a couple of years ago and loved it. The "field of Dreams" is in that area. We did a mystry cruise on the Mississippi. Galena is a great town. This whole area would be a great area to ride in.
  17. You may have a plugged vent from the gas tank.. it will build up a vacuum and stop the gas from flowing. when you open the cap it releases and the bike will start again.
  18. Ours does not work that way.. it does not mute the radio when we talk.
  19. Last year while riding rt 12 in Utah I lost my back brakes. this has never happened before. that evening I found some new brake fluid and a plastic hose and changed the fluid. It did happen again later in the year. I have since changed to a high temp fluid and just got back from a 2 week ride with no problem. the truth of the matter is I have had to teach myself to use my front brakes more and not depend on the back brakes, even though they seem to give you smoother stops. I have trained myself to use the front and backs together and I have not had the problem again.. I do think the R1 upgrade to the front brakes is in my future especially since I use them for probably 70 to 80 % now.
  20. We were returning from a 2 week trip on the east coast on Saturday. They plan was for a nice short day and avoid the heat. In Virginia we discovered we were not going to be able to get gas. The first stop took over 3 hours of sitting in line or going to a different station as each one quit pumping for various reasons. The second fill up was not much better and the 3rd stop just north of Marietta Ohio took about and hour just to find one that was still pumping. We ended up riding home that night. with stops and waits we were on the bikes about 17 hours. I guess we will just call this " just another adventure".

    Avon Venom

Well I was changing the oil and decided to replace the rear tire. Someone mentioned recently that Avon was replacing the Venom. Is that available yet? Thats one question. Another is, where is everyone else finding the best price. I want to get it ordered soon. thanks, Bob

But have you checked the electrical end of it. Possibly a bad coil or something causing that cylinder not to fire correctly? Bob
