I run the pressure on the sidewall and some disagree with that But,I have 13000 miles on them and still look great..I do not ride aggressive though and usually 65 mph..I only get aggressive IF I am by myself and know the roads well.

Boomer,Now That is a deal for anyone on here..sooner or later the little tabs will break and even though a fix may be able to be made Id rather get that one at that deal! Thanks for offering it to the site..Im sure it will be gone shortly! Tom

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories___YAMAHA-ROYAL-STAR-VENTURE-WINSHIELD-CHROME-TRIM-COWLING_W0QQitemZ250342025482QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQddiZ2811QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item250342025482&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 It amazes me how Ebay items can sell for more than if you just go to someplace like South Seattle Yamaha and can get the same thing for $84.99.....The above listed is $127.50 at present. Hope this will help someone in the future. Tom

If you want to run the OEMs down try and make it to our 2009 Rally in Arkansas and I will let you take my RSV out for awhile,it has the Stock Size Avons on it and that way you can try before you buy plus meet alot of the members on here in person. I do not mind at all if you take it half a day or so and try them out..They may not be for everybody but I will never have anything else but Avons in Stock size,it makes a HUGE difference in handling. Hope to see you in Arkansas starting 8/3/09. Tom

Shock?

I am sure you know already but be sure and wear off all the slick stuff they put on the new tire..IT IS SLICK with it on there. I go over board and lightly sand it on traction areas. I know not necessary but that is me.

Thom,I just got back from Robert , La,off I 12 and the roads are alot better..A little construction in ,or just east of Beaumont, other than that construction on the bypass in Lake Charles,La. Tom

I had said to myself I would not post on this subject again but...I had no problem getting Metz to warranty the tire,Yes I was asked all the questions, correct air pressure, too much load on the tire etc..NOW It was up to me to let them put on another NEW rear tire.I think the bottom line is" Is this tire risking my Life after 1700 miles and its chunking rubber from the center right portion of the tire?" "Do I want to take this chance again?" My answer is NO! So I took the tire back ordered Avons and currently have 13000 miles on them and STILL look great. I dont think it is Metxler not standing behind the tire,it is admitting they have a problem on this particular size and bike fitment. You know companies do that,LIE, Yamaha saying they have no problem with the Venture and the clutch whine???? So in short buy what you want but read the articles here and another website about Metz and the Venture. If you want to buy it do so,But I REALLY think all anyone on this site wants is for the other members,(Their Friends) to be informed about the risk. My commom sense says if its reported that alot of members are having the problem with a tire, take heed and either learn from it or take your own chance..If it works good for you that is great! My life and my Wifes life is VERY important to me and I will not take that chance again! '

I work a week on/week off schedule with them driving and I know people have their views on Wal Mart but it is without a doubt the best company I have ever worked for.Yes we all see wasteful,or what we think is wasteful spending, but I am VERY satisfied. Tom

Gary, the Smile says it all..glad you had a good time, looking forward to meeting her. Tom

The only problem I have known is on the Venture and tour deluxe but a few here swear by them,I will never buy a set for mine again 1700 miles and chunking rubber...My life is worth more to me than taking the chance. I have 13000 on my Avons now and looks good but I am not aggressive..I look at them each time before I ride and check pressure at least once a month.

The only wreck I have had was showing off when I was a kid..(17 Years old). I can name plenty of "Close Calls" but was always aware that anything can happen. I drive for a living and my thing is I never expect ANYONE to stop at stop signs, red lights etc. I am always watching traffic from the sideroads and always ready for them to just pull out in front of me. I sometimes get aggressive in curves but I make sure I know the road and consequences if I get too confident. In short I ride very defensively. In my professional career Ive seen people do the dumbest things to try and save a minute that in the end cost them or a loved one there life. Sometimes it just happens though and nothing can be done about it.

You may send GaryN and Ramblingman or Blueslover a PM..I think they are going to try and make it. They will be coming from Ontario area and some good guys to ride with. Crazy but good guys! Tom
