  1. I like the Atomic Orange out of the 2, it's similar to what I have wanted to paint a bike for a long time.
  2. As a moderator you can see when people are invisible but still on the site. Everyone else does not see the red dot, just admin/moderators....
  3. The original aftermarket ones are as rare as chicken lips. I haven't seen a set of them in a very long time. Are you wanting to go with R1 calipers on the front of the bike?
  4. Hardly knew you were gone Enjoy your new place
  5. Take it easy my friend, I'm definitely glad it was you telling the story and not Beth. Let me know if we can help you with anything, bike or otherwise.
  6. Happy Birthday Bobbie!!!
  7. Unless you are dead set on getting a stock one, a better idea is to go purchase a Firestik and install it. It's tuneable for the CB and they are about $20. You'll have to change the mount, but you'll end up with newer better technology.
  8. Just for some clarification, the temp gauge probe is on the right side of the bike on the frame above the top corner of the radiator. If that connection is dirty or loose it might give you some erroneous readings. You might want to think about burping it again, just to be sure that it really is in good shape....
  9. You should do just fine with that bike, he's taken good care of it from what I can see. It was a good price too....and theres not another one like it
  10. This is just some damage control questions, did you "burp" the system when you filled it back up. Meaning let it run with the cap off so that it could push any air through the coolant passages and come out the radiator opening? I have found that even if you think you have it all out, some times it's not that way. I have had to do it a couple times on troublesome systems. Another mention I want to throw in here is that the gauges on a 1st gen are low quality, they are not that accurate. Did you hear any boiling in the engine when it got hot? I know that when I replaced the hoses on my '86 I took the temp sensor apart and sandblasted it and cleaned it very well. I noticed that after I did that, my temp gauge would stay at the bottom of the gauge, instead of closer to the red line which is somewhat normal on a 1st gen....
  11. Good to hear your getting back on that horse Larry
  12. I dont know what your talking about, it's sunny and 82 here
  13. Unfortunately, I am being treated for pharyngitis, so I'm not going to be able to make it. This is very nasty stuff, knocked me right on my arse, feel like crap. Y'all have fun, gotta go to the chiropractor now
  14. I sent a text to Skid and MamaMo and they said they were fairing ok. Skid mentioned about getting the gals set up for when he's manning the phones and Ramona said they are doing good as well. Lots of stuff happening, but good to hear from some of our brethren and knowing they are ok. Y'all be safe and know were saying a prayer for all of you affected by this.
  15. To all our members affected by this Huricane, please know that your in our thoughts and were talking with the man upstairs for y'all to get your lives back to normal. PLEASE be careful, if you dont have to go out....DONT. This is nasty stuff mother nature is throwing at you. If there's anything we can do to help y'all please let us know....all the best to you folks.
  16. The door is always open and we'll leave the lights on for y'all
  17. Hoping that she is getting along as well as can be expected, were still here if she needs us.
  18. Be careful and we'll catch up with y'all in a few days
  19. 1st off I want to thank everyone that was able to make it out here! As the old saying goes "post it and they will come" this time was no different. Way too many folks to thanks, and I'll start with Lonna, she NEVER shy's away when I have these crazy ideas to open our home up to who knows how many folks. She and Beth Branton, busted their butts to make the potato and macaroni salads. It would never go as smooth as it does without her hard work and I appreciate it very much All the folks that brought food for the eatin part of MD, Owens Maggie for the beans (these seriously are some of the best beans I have ever eaten) Molly Kuhns, for the peach cobbler and the corn casserole, and brownies. Jerry Van Avery for his dish, and everything else that others brought or made that my rememberer can't pinpoint. Kreg and Janet for bringing the cover and the use of the tire machine, and all the general help. Halmost There (Hal Cameron) who brought over his new balls out smoker on a trailer. The ribs, chicken legs and Boudan, which were all seriously good. He cooked the majority of the day and it was all delicious! Gunboat for the typical delivery of the much loved Blue Bell Ice Cream Just too much food and great camaraderie, it was a perfect day, started out a bit on the chilly side but the sun was out all day and warmed up to the low 70's pretty quick. I took a few pics which are below, and again THANK YOU ALL for making it an awesome day. This was my very 1st MD at any of the houses we have lived in. This will be an annual deal as I will host the Fall Houston MD and Kreg will host the Spring Houston MD at his house in Waller....Thanks again for making this a great weekend I will not soon forget.
  20. Paul, There is also an alignment mark where the front pressure plate aligns with the clutch basket. You will see a deeper circle indent and there is a corresponding one on the tit of the retaining bolt support of the basket. If these aren't lined up it will not work right, if you have any questions call me.
  21. Keith, It will be good to see you again, been far too long. Be careful getting up here and give a call if you have any issues. Mark, We'll do more stuff, your welcome out at the house anytime. Nobody needs a MD if they have some work done on their bike, I always have an open door here. I'll be up by 6 and Zipcode will be here by 7, come whenever you want...sleep in for a change
  22. It's all because we love you both Buddy! Lonna and I know the feeling of being kept here for other business the man upstairs has in store for us.....
  23. I just wanted to touch base on something that concerns me a bit. The end of my drivway is a bit funky. #1 There is some sand at the very end of it, so I want y'all to be aware of that and prepare for it. It also climbs up a bit, so when you pull in and straiten up commit and come up in, the rest is hard packed. #2 The driveway is not perpendicular to the road, if your coming from the West on Old 105, you'll turn in to the left and it's smooth sailing up as the driveway is angling to the right. If your coming in from the East on Old 105, your going to make a right in the driveway and it will continue to the right. If you go to Google maps and type in the address, then go to the satellite view and zoom all the way in you'll see how it is angled. Just wanted to give you a heads up so it wasn't a surprise when y'all pull in. Weather is looking to be nice and cool, and any rain should be long gone.....I'm pretty stoked!!
  24. Totally understandable Art, we weer looking forward to seeing you again and perhaps the wife, but life can waylay the best of plans. All the best to your daughters father in law. James....we'll have more my friend, take care of business and we'll get with you and Lynn soon...all the best to the family. We'll be waiting to see you folks at Gunboats Worst case is your going to foul some plugs and get crappy fuel mileage. Get it down here and we'll get it figured out. If you have any issues call me on my cell and we'll come get you. Paul, That would be awesome if you could get it squared away, we have plenty of room in the house and your more than welcome to stay as long as you want
  25. If you decide to do this, like mentioned, the balance is the crucial issue. Depending on how high the table is your going to set it on, will determine the butt pucker factor. Keep in kind that you obviously want the legs on the engine stand extended as far as you can get them and the lift arm as short as you can get. Move the bike as close to the table as you can so your not trying to push 800+ lbs 3' in the air much distance. All the plastic off is a great idea, and it will give you some more hand holds. That being mentioned I would want to do it with 3 people. Me being in control of the hoist and 1 person on the front and back. The bigger the guys on the front and back the better. Make sure your table is plenty sturdy enough to handle 1000 lbs....good luck with your move.
