I have been told by a very reliable source that my '99 will, with very little effort, bury the speedometer in 4th, 2 up, and accelerate when shifted to 5th. That is by the bike speedometer, again, so I'm told, 'cause I would never ride THAT fast:no-no-no:.

when you disconnect the relay and the brake light turns off is the tail light still on? If not, check for proper ground.

Are you happy with only five gears? How bad are the vibes?
wes0778 replied to Humbucker's topic in Watering Hole
On a bike that tops out at just shy of 100mph in 3rd, then has 4th and 5th to go, why would you need a 6th? :stickpoke: -
Gosh Bob, why don't you tell us how you really feel... BTW could putting that sticker on the bike be considered vandalism? And I'm sure it damaged the windshield (), so why not present the manager with a bill for a new one???

Not being very creative myself, I used my initials and last 4 of our phone #.

Yeah, looks like cold weather is on the way here too. Highs for the next several days will be in the mid 70s and temps at night will drop into the lower 40s, maybe even into the upper 30s:cold:. :stirthepot:

I had a '66 Tempest (326) 4-door,that I put a '66 Tri-Power set up on. That really woke up that little motor. 2-1/2" dual glass pack exhaust helped too. That was back in the day when a service station attendant would still offer to check you oil. Wish I had a camera for the expression on their faces when they opened the hood and gazed upon those 3 little chrome air filters!!!

Me too, A '98 Tour Classic (Tour Deluxe with soft bags) for around town and runs to Wally-World. and a '99 RSV for long trips. Don't confuse the '90s TDs with the '05 and up TDs! The '90s ones are smaller and less hp than the '05 and ups. The seat height on my 98 is several inches lower than the RSV and that is better for me for in town, since I'm only 5'6" with a 27" inseam.

For what it's worth, on my bike, I also ran a second 14ga wire from the #87 relay terminal to one terminal (disconnect and tie back the factory wiring) on the 2nd factory horn behind the left lower fairing. Ground the other horn terminal. At least in my case THAT made the "hidden" factory horn louder.

Leveling links off/front forks raised in tree

It's my understanding that lowering the rear, after lowering the front just restores the bike back to the same geometry as it was before any changes, just lower over all. Oh, and once that is done it may be necessary to shorten the kickstand. -
Passing lights really should be run through a relay to get the load off the ignition switch. I even went so far as to put my headlight on a relay. Probably did it too late, 'cause my ignition switch is failing.

need some carburetor help
wes0778 replied to russellohioboy66's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
1st thought, are you using the carb sync procedure in the official Yammie service manual? I is WRONG. Use the SEARCH here to find kbran's excellent write up on the proper way to sync the carbs. Aw, heck, here's the link; http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258 -
Glad to hear the good news!!! :happy65: We'll leave the light on for ya!!!

Before considering electric, how dependable is your electric service? Ours has gotten better, but still goes out occasionally. I chose gas water heater, furnace, stove and dryer, for economy, but also so I needed a lot smaller standby generator. It has been a while ago, but last ice storm we were on the generator for 3 days, but had lights, heat and hot water. All on a 7500 watt whole house generator.
