  1. After reading the post I decided to replace my rear brake pads. I ordered them from Jake Wilson Sunday night and received them today (in less than 48 hrs). That's service....And for regular ground shipment.
  2. I also have a set from these guys and really like them. They fit the seat perfectly. I use it on long rides. I have appr. 1500-2000 miles on them with no issues. I also have an airhawk seat cushion. The beads are way more comfortable.
  3. I pulled my rear pads out and inspected them. To me they looked good with 27k miles on them. The inside did have more wear than the outside, which I swapped around. My question is, is the wear indicator the gap in the center of the pad?
  4. Since you have both....a road comparison of it and the rstd. Maybe Don will a HD section to the forum....

bj66, was there a considerable difference in insurance premiums? I'm leaning that way, I love the design and looks of the rstd and the rsv, but its been a love hate relationship.
  6. I tried one their spray on products and it took forever to get the white spots off of everything. Since I've stayed loyal to eagle ones spray on wax as you dry and their detailer spray and both do an awesome job. No swirls in the paint, no white residue, leaves a spotless finish....love their product.
  7. I guess folks in La have deep pockets. The last time gas prices got high we saw no difference in speeding violations. Either they (the motorist) don't care or don't see a correlation between speed and fuel mileage. As they say common sense isn't common any more.
  8. What kind of difference do you see in fuel mileage, rsv vs rgu?

Makes you wonder if mc manufacturer's ever use a wind tunnel to test a design and then try to improve on it.
  10. When I was younger I don't remember the wind bothering me. Now I hate it. I don't like the popping in my ears with a short shield. For the most part I want a comfortable ride without all the buffeting or loud air rushing over a full face helmet. The wind in my face freedom never made since to me. Riding down the road feeling a tolerable amount of air and the smell of the outdoors, a well tuned engine, and a certain degree of comfort is my freedom. After all the adjustments on my rstd, I've come to realize the stock set up is the best. I also caught on to why folks wear a vest, excellent wind protection.
  11. I have an 06 rstd and with 10% ethanol the best I can get is about 38 mpg at any speed. The worse I get is 32 mpg and that's usually at 70 - 75 mph. Since it rolled out the show room it's never gotten better than 40 mpg with any kind of fuel. I'd be curious if there's something that would help. Like one has said, a lot of variables: shorter windshields..I could see 2-4 mpg differences, but not 5-10 mpg unless there is some seriously bad tolerances during manufacturing.
  12. Thanks guys....
  13. I have the Morgan carbtuner, when I sync the carbs the gauges fluctuate at an idle and smooth out at a higher rpm. I reluctantly threw the restrictor tubes away. Does anyone know of a fix that I can use to restrict the vacuum lines? Or should I be concerned? Tks
  14. Check on the gasket for the cover. When the dealer changed mine out he forgot to order a gasket and had to wait another week to get it out of the shop. From what he told me it wasn't reusable.
  15. We have the Sena and have been very satisfied with it and their service. I had a distorted speaker and got no grief with getting it replaced (they actually gave me a whole new headset). It's Bluetooth ready and the controls are very easy to use. We haven't tried talking from bike to bike yet. I rode with earplugs in the other day and had no problems hearing the wife. You can also plug in your iPod, though it sounds better with the ear pods. It's expensive, around $400, but it's very easy to use and no wires and excellent battery life. They give you several different power options to recharge it. I would think that the one that is hard wired would be better especially with cb option like the RSV. No matter which way you go, speaker placement is the key for sound quality.
  16. Better fuel mileage! A friend had an 02 road king that smoked my 06 rstd on fuel mileage. He averaged 45 mpg to my 32-38 mpg riding the exact same speeds and another one on an 06 electra glide avg 40 mpg.
  17. I got custom dynamics's led headlight for my rstd and really like it....no worries of a headlight burning out (though it could go out). Tested it the other night and was pleased with the light output. I just need to get it side by side with a standard h4 to really see how much of a difference. Just driving in traffic halogen, car lights really looked yellow n dim compared to the white light.
  18. If ur semi happy with the stock I would recommend sending it to Rick Butler, link in the classifieds. He does a great (professional) job for next to nothin.
  19. If you get up around Many La your welcome to ride my rstd. I haven't rode a rsv to know the difference in wind protection between the two, I'd like to test ride the ST!
  20. I tried the mustang with the backrest, very nice. I ended up selling it due to it being to shallow. I felt like all my weight was on my hip bones and with no wiggle room. It kinda makes you feel like your riding on the fuel tank. For reference, I'm 6' 235 lbs. Other wise it's a very well made seat and would definitely buy another one, just not for a RSTD. Right now the butler mood has been the best for me. I would love to sit on an Ultimate.
  21. Sandbagged, mine does the same thing on deceleration as yours, especially if I get the rpm's up (high pitch whine) It's the clutch basket in mine. It seems that some of the clutch baskets are very sensitive to variations in oil, some others maybe not so. Mine is! It's tolerable, be curious what happens with more oil. I've been using rotella 15w40 and for my rstd its been the best combination. Granted others have no issues with other oils, etc. I also have the I basket which got rid of the other whines while going thru the gears or at a constant speed.
  22. I think the cruise cut off when you hit a bump is a safety feature in case you run off the road.
  23. Here is some food for thought. City of Indianapolis v Edmond, 531 U.S. 32 (2000), the U.S. Supreme Court found that roadblocks and checkpoints conducted for "primary purpose" of "uncover(ing) evidence of ordinary criminal wrongdoing" violate the Fourth Amendment. Roadblocks should be directed toward administrative purposes, such as insuring highway safety or where appropriate policing the Nations borders; they must not be motivated by "the general interest in crime control." Thus so called "drug checkpoints," staffed with drug-sniffing dogs and conducted for the primary purpose of discovering and interdicting illegal narcotics, were unconstitutional. The Court did note that if exigent circumstances were present, an appropriately tailored roadblock whose primary purpose was crime control would almost certainly be permitted. Of course, if police uncover evidence of criminal wrong doing at a valid roadblock, they may seize the evidence and arrest its possessor. This may be or may not be the case that allows Ga State Patrol to conduct a tailored checkpoint for motorcycles. Looking through my '06 book of Criminal Law and Motor Vehicle Handbook, this is all I found on this perticular issue. If one goes to the Georgia State Patrol's website there's an article on the home page on their reasons for the checkpoint.
  24. Looks good to me. Their not profiling, their performing a check point for ALL motorcycles. Profiling would be stopping only hd's with long haired operators! After reading their state stats for fatalities, etc it looks like a good thing. Troopers get some overtime and hopefully they take some folks off the road that don't need to be there, fine the ones that aren't legal, and have a good day to those that are squared away.
  25. The standard is 19.5". The largest I know of is by clearview, theirs is 4" wider and you can get it I think 2" to 4" taller. I personally didn't like the taller version, it kills your fuel mileage. If you do go that route I would recommend against the upper lip. It will hold moister making it harder to see thru.
