The thing I dislike bout dodge/chrysler is they use cheaper grade plastic. The dashes crack, the headlights turn yellow, etc. Maybe the've gotten better, who knows.

Why Reverse A Rear Tire When Put On The Front?
jfoster replied to GlennTuc's topic in The Darksiders
Let me know if it does...I noticed when the dealer mounted my front that the arrow was backward. They just flipped the whole wheel around to make the tire run forward. -
Fmsca says u have to be in commerce to be considered a com ercial motor vehicle. If ur not in commerce u don't need a cdl regardless if ur motorhome is on a class 8 chassis. I'm not referring to what tx does with the non cdl class a.
-
I've never heard of a non-cdl class A. Granted texas may have something similar. In La we have a class d. Regardless of size, if it's a motorhome and is not considered a commercial veh you don't need a cdl. If he's transporting race cars with sponsors on them he can be classified as in commerce.

This may help....the custom dynamic product is made by Truck-Lite #2261 made n USA. It's pretty much universal in application. -
LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
jfoster replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine is in and installed. In reference, I have the RSTD and was using the Cool Blue H4 bulb. First impression is the light distribution isn't as good as the standard bulb. As with a standard headlight you get an even spread. With this you have 10 seperate light sources, that makes up the light pattern. I really don't think its any brighter than the Cool Blue or the Silver Star. On the plus side, its not blindingly bright to other motorist. I'll have to ride at night to give it a good review. So far, I've just pulled out on the road just to see how the light is. For me, I don't ride that much at night. I don't have passing lamps and have always worried bout the headlight bulb burning out and taking a chance of having someone turn in front of me. With this, I have more security of being seen and for me its worth the price. (Thats what I tell myself.) I'll post a better review once I have time to take it out and ride at night and do a side by side comparison with a standard h4 bulb. I will say this, if your looking for a brighter light than the cool blue or the silver star for night riding, you may want to look at the HID kit. If your looking for the different factor and want the security of not worring about it burning out, you will like it minus the price tag. When my neighbor returns home from his 30 day tour in Africa, I'll do a side by side comparison with the standard bulb. Pros: Low draw on the electrical system. LED quality light and output. Doesn't draw bugs in (learned that from having a LED light bar on my patrol unit) Not worried about it burning out. Cons: Light pattern isn't as good. For me, I like it...worth the price, hard to say just yet. -

With the price of gas and the Lower mpg's of ethanol contaminated fuel. Is there an additive that would increase the btu's to increase mileage? Or is this even possible?
-
I know some of this may be repetitive and I apologize. I talked to a gas hauler today during an inspection and asked if he knew which service stations gets the ethanol and which ones don't. He told me that when a driver loads the fuel he has to enter if he wants the ethanol blend or not. Some stations want it and some don't. From what he told me (take it with a grain of salt) the stations get a tax break on the ethanol they buy versus pure gas. He also mentioned to what Freebird had stated before on another post about how it will prematurely eat up rubber fuel lines especially on motorcycles. They have to preplace rubber seals in their trailers pretty regularly due to it. I noticed that when my bike was in the shop week before last for the valve adjustment, they had replaced the fuel line to the filter (now I know why). But, basically the fuel drivers know who is selling it and who isn't. I'm not sure how accurate pure-gas.org is ($ changes people's minds). I'd rather know from the guy that just loaded it. Hope this helps some of you guys out and maybe its been addressed before...

L E D Lights
jfoster replied to Officer Dave's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I personally don't care bout the blue LEDs as long as they're not visible from the front and don't strobe. Depends alot on ur local leo's and how tolerant they are. MC's around my area are pretty low key. -
Fwiw...I had know problems removing the fuel filter with the other filter in place. Once you slide the fuel filter off the two flat post you can pull it straight out the top to easily remove the fuel lines. With the fuel pump unbolted, there's plenty of slack to do it outside the frame.

Using ya's suggestions I replaced mine today and surprisingly found it fairly easy to remove. For what it's worth to anyone that hasn't done it, I proceeded as the previous post suggested. I didn't have to remove the center cover, just unbolted it to move it out a bit. Once the fuel pump was taken loose (most do) I worked my fingers around the filter and slid it off the two flat posts that hold it secure, pulling it from the left side of the bike. Once off the posts, I pulled it straight out the top, where I disconnected the fuel lines (plenty of slack n fuel line). After installing the new filter, I slide it down into its original position. As another posted, there are two filters in there side by side. The fuel filter is the white plastic filter (right side of the two). The flow direction or out is down. I installed the fs3330 from auto zone, it ran like a top afterwards.

I appreciate the feed back....atleast I know its a dealers choice and not some crazy mandate. It was an E3 that I wanted to get mounted and not a C/T.

I thought this year I would save some $ and purchase a tire on line only to find out the local yamaha dealer won't mount it. The shop foreman said they weren't allowed to (chain of something to do with tires). Is this bs or is there some truth in this?

On a different note, what and how much would you guys use on a 25 gallon fuel tank on my pick-up without damaging the fuel system. I'm like freebird on my scooter, but with a 25 gal tank a small can of seafoam is useless.

Lighting up the back end of my 07 RSMV

I added an additional brake light by mounting a whelen TIR3 red led strobe which can be programmed to burn steady when activated to the inspection sticker plate from jp cycles. Perfect fit and bout twice as bright as my custom dynamic's 100 led taillamp. Total cost for the Whelen TIR3 n bracket $55, not including shipping. U can get LIN 6 for $20 more which is insanely bright. VLSUSA.com -
Neat concept, most likely another cheap piece of china ingenuity.

I would try one on for fit. I personally think they're designed for short heads if that makes sense. I've got more of a long narrow face and found the ear holes were to high. I also found it was incredibly hot. I have a fulmer 3/4 with full face shield and really like it (i think thats how its spelled) and found it fits much better and the heat was not an issue (matte finish) They're both incredibly noisy if they get any kind of direct wind. I modified mine by filling in the vent holes with hot glue and created a seal around the face shield to seal the top against the helment to reduce wind noise.

I had a '01 Honda Rancher, it was bullet proof, sipped fuel, and enough power. Downside, it rode rough and handled poorly. My father in law has an '01 Yamaha Big Bear, all the same pluses as the Honda, but it rode better and handled better.
