The area is beautiful isn't it. I used to live there and hope, God willing, I'll be able to get back and live there maybe when I retire. Although retirement is a distance off yet, I can still look forward to it right??

I don't know anything at all about the Utopia backrests, and I know this won't help you unless you live somewhere near me, however, when I bought my bike a year ago, I wanted a backrest immediately as I had one on my previous bike and have decided never to be without one. Anyway, to make a short story a bit long, they had one in stock that was made by a guy who lives in town there. It works great, fits great, looks good and does not impede the comfort of the little misses whatsoever. It's not nearly as wide as a lot of them but more than adequately does the job.

I wouldn't be without my GPS. No stopping to look at the map taking up time that could be spent riding. I can be coming up to a town, put in restaurants and know exactly where I'm going to eat by picking through a list and go straigh to it without having to wonder whats available and trying to drive around looking for a place that I might want to eat at. That alone to me is worth it. Put in everything else you can do with them and I say they're worth their weight in gold! Just MHO.

Extremely nice setup for the right price. Congrats! Your gonna love it!!!!

We were looking at Toyata camry or honda accord. Through research and driving and price, we ended up getting a Mazda 6. WE LOVE IT. I don't think you could really go wrong with any of the three, but we liked the ride and features for the price much better.

Thanks for the pics. They are awsome! I think I like Idaho the best. Just one more place to add to the list of must do's I guess. I'm sure I'll be dead before I do em all!!!

Thanks, I C. So if I understand this correctly, you can have the CB radio on and still not go over the air because your basically just turning on a switch then releasing to have an open communication system then shutting it back off with another push of the button. Would this be correct and yes that sounds very interesting!! Thanks again.

OK, I'll bite, how exactly do the mic mutes work and where do I get them?? This is the first I've heard of them. Are they a VOX type mute where you have to break vox to be able to talk??

I think that would be Lawyers. No offense to any here!!!

downshift and excessive backfiring 2nd gen
edger replied to Mobile's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
How are your pipes? Are they shot? I don't know about the ventures but on my last bike it backfired something fierce until I replaced the baffles in the pipes. That cured her. Guess not enough back pressure from the pipes can cause it as well. -
I don't beleive you can have the radio and CB separate, as far as speakers vs headset. I think its either both out speakers or both in headset. If I am wrong hope someone shares on that one cuz I have never been able to figure it out.

I am much luckier than some. I have no trailer, have no need for one. When we go on trips we ride cuz quite honestly my wife loves to ride every bit as much if not more than me (She doesn't ride her own, she is with me). I can see the use for a trailer and wish I had one just in case of a breakdown or such. I have to get my bike 50 miles to the nearest shop. They definately have their purpose. As for riding in the rain I HATE it, I have only had to ride in the rain twice in the past 7 months since I got the new bike cuz we got caught on trips. Otherwise if its raining I dont ride it. Before I got this couch (RSV) I had a much more uncomfortable bike and thought about trailering many times. Sure have nothing against someone who does. Just my thoughts and giving thanks for a wife that loves to ride!

Question for 2nd gen owners with water temp gauge
edger replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got too much other stuff up there for all them guages. With GPS MP3 and water holder etc, no room for more guages! -
I have only had one dealing with Progressive. The claim was handled HORRIBLY!! They tried to cheat me out of anything they could with very poor reasons. I wrote a letter detailing out the entire thing to the Ne. State Ins. governing body and was shortly thereafter contacted by someone higher up in the Progressive company who then made good on the claim. You should not have to get the state government involved to get a fair settlement on a claim. That is just rediculous. Now, that said, I do beleive that it was just simply the agent here that was a jerk and really probably not the "company" as a whole.

I just got mine and will most likely install it on Monday. I am really not too concerned about how bright the lights are just that I get any more light back there. I am really anxious to see how this all turns out though. Will be watching!

My neighbor totaled his Gold Wing by slipping on gravel around a corner here in town. They use so much in the winter it is rediculous and creates a riding hazard all spring until the heavy rains can wash it away. Darn Gravel!!! Hope your better soon!!!

Wow, that is cool. Wish I had found that before I ordered my fin. I like the turn signal feature in this. Oh well, guess the fin is on its way now so that will have to do.

According to a post here it is apparently very hard to change the fuse for the cig lighter. I always run my GPS out of the cig lighter plug and have had no problem at all. I don't understand why this would cause the fuse to go as they draw so very little power but now I'm a bit hesitant. I was actually thinking of getting a power splitter that plugs in there to run both my GPS and MP3 players. Both very little power consumption at all. Now, my question is, (after reading what I have) is this a very BAD idea?? Has anyone had issues with this in the past?? I can get by as I have been with just running the GPS off power and just letting the battery on the MP3 player do its thing, however on long trips it tends to die out after just a few hours. Thoughts?? I am very very electronically challenged and don't feel that re-wiring things is within my grasp and frankly, really don't want to have additional things hanging around if possible. Guess what I'm really asking is, if I don't re-wire for this am I asking for trouble?? Thanks.

Sand is a major problem round here, a buddy of mine totalled out his Gold Wing from hitting some left over sand while taking a corner. Was he going too fast? guess anythings possible but none the less, that stuff is dangerous!! Wait till a few good thunderstorms wash things down to get too comfortable.

The grandkids are coming , the grandkids are coming....
edger replied to Cinderella's topic in Watering Hole
I'm not a grandad yet, however I do have one married off and they are trying. I imagine it won't be too long then I'll know the excitement your feeling. Until then all I can say is congratulations and have fun! Enjoy em while you can cuz with the limited time anyone see's grandkids I would imagine they grow up even faster than our own. -
Now you all have me worried. I have to get mine in for it's 4000 mile service which includes syncing the carbs!! Man, now I gotta sweat it out!
