  1. Anybody besides me have one of these gadgets? You plug it into your cig. lighter before you disconnect the battery, and it saves all your radio/clock settings. Nice and cheap, too!
  2. While doing another repair- I discovered that the electric dampers on the front forks were disconnected. Any opinions on why someone would disconnect them would be helpfull. I reconnected them, but have yet to ride it.
  3. A couple of months ago I got an 83 Venture Royal project. When I first got it it would turn over slowly. I've had the battery out while I've been working on other things. Now when I try and start her everything dies when I hit the starter button and I need disconnect the battery to get it back. Is there anything I should check before I remove the starter? Is there a way I can do and initial check on the starter before I remove it from the bike? I know enough about electrical systems to be dangerous. I’m in school at Washtenaw
  4. I have noticed a couple of times the past 2 weeks that my cooling fan will just arbitrarily come on while my bike has been sitting in the garage for a couple days--If I disconnect the battery ground and reconnect everything is fine (the fan shuts off)---Do I have a bad relay or am I missing something??
  5. Hi guys, I have removed my carbs off my -'87 VR a few times. Every time I remove the upper left fairing to get to the cables at the Venture Cruise "junction box" and disconnect the "shorties" going to the carbs per the manual. This is a long process. Have I been doing it the hard way? Can the carbs be removed and safely disconnect the cables right at the carbs then yank them up and out the top without swearing? Bottom line , have I been disassmbling the fairing for nothing?
  6. Thinking about getting one for my 05 RSTD, but of course they don't list a mounting bracket for this bike. Does anybody know if any of the other models will connect to the stock windshield quick disconnect mounts? Didn't know if maybe the Roadstar or Vstar brackets might work.
  7. Sorry to keep coming to you guys..........I ain't electrically inclined. I am in the process of installing passing lights and mount on my 2004 Venture R/S. Does the turn signal wires connect in the fairing? I know I connect them to the lower portion of the mounting but I am trying to disconnect the turn signals and just removing the bolts, etc from the turn signal mount doesn't do the job. Where do you disconnect the wiring? I'll probably be back to ask another question but this will get me started. Thanks.
  8. I bought a nice thick luxurious sheep skin (fond memories.. but that's another story..) a while back and was pondering how to lay it on the bike, especially with the back rest sticking up out of the middle.. I could unbolt it, make a hole and bolt it back on but what about an emergency removal or taking it off at night when on the road etc etc.. HMMmm indeeeeed.. While I picking up bolts for my extension block for the highway lamps, I saw they had all kinds of quick disconnect hardware as well.. positive locking ones etc.. you could a drop pin, clevis, or quick pin.. but the bottom line is that its a simple solution, fits tight and quick to remove.. and permits the on / off of the sheepskin.. I'll get some pics of what I'm using once I have it all rigged up with the skin on it.. Black Sheep - Black Bike..
  9. I'll be getting my Zumo 660 in the next few weeks. I'll be using the AUX plug at the back of the cassette player (I already have my iPod connected there) and I want to also disconnect the power from the cassette player and use that for the GPS. Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Hi Y'all, I think I know the answer, but is there any way to disconnect the EANDS cables at the fork end, or do I have to disconnect it up under the headlight and leave the cables with the forks? Thanks, Jeremy
  11. Last fall, someone here mentioned connecting some tubing into the coolant circuit of the engine and running it through your jacket for heat. It was said as a joke, but the idea was that it was free heat and didn't load down our low output stator. The nuisance would be to connect and disconnect yourself from a water line all the time. But what about running a water line through the seats? Laugh if you want, but this is halfway feasible, isn't it? The seats are removed only seldom. Maybe the lines could even be long enough that the seat could be removed and set down next to the bike without disconnecting lines, or maybe not. Maybe use some quick disconnect fittings, like those used in high pressure air lines. Put a valve in the line to shut the heat off during the summer. I suppose grooves would have to be cut in the seat foam to make room for the lines. Then maybe put a thin piece of foam over top of it all. Go ahead and laugh, but why wouldn't this work? Who's going to be the first to try one? Hey, someone has to think of something first and get laughed at. People laughed at Alexander Graham Bell right over the telephone. So said Barney Fife, anyway.
  12. Before I started tearing my bike apart...........Where is the front horn located? I installed an air horn and I want to disconnect it.
