  1. I caa me home from work this evening and haven't had the time to ride the bike---But as I thought about it today at work I'm thinking you geniuses that came up with the "Air in the system" might just be on to something----I remember it "gurggling" like crazy after I stopped it last night---then needing more coolant----also---I started it up when i got home this evening and let it just sit and Idle for about 20 minutes and the Temp gauge stayed in the Lower Quarter of the GREEN---Seems to me that if she was gonna run hot it would have happened sitting there with no air blowing thru the radiator--anyway---I hope you guys were correct about the "Air Pocket"----thanks..............Larry:fingers-crossed-emo
  2. Hey Guys!------I changed the "thermastat housing" and all the hoses on my 89 Royale and now it seems to be running "hot"---any ideas why this could be?---I have the plastic drain plug at the bottom of the radiator with the "off" mark at the "2-O-clock" position like someone on here said was the correct place for it-----It seemed to cool down some after I returned from the initial run and let it idle with the fan runnining------I actually revved it up to about 9000 rpm's one quick time to see if maybe something was stuck and the temp guage seemed to drop to about 3/4 way up (at least it was in the green area after I did that)----I used the same thermostat that came with the housing because it had only 29,000 mi. on it---Do you guys think maybe it was just kinda stuck?----i sure hope that's all it is:fingers-crossed-emo..................................................Larry
  3. GREAT!---the twist hand grip part is exactly what I need!--Has the 2 "eyelets" in it to insert the cables through...............................I've never exchanged parts on here before--not sure how to do it (I'm an E-bay addict) lol!....................................Larry
  4. Hey Guys!---Guess what I found AFTER I broke the white plastic retainer on the throttle?----An adjustment screw just as the cable is coming off the carburator linkage!-----Now my delima is this---Does ANYBODY have a new throttle that I can purchase??---I'm looking on FleaBay but can only find an 83 model with only the on- off button and start button---Mines an 89 with the cruise controls and am not sure I can take the throttle off the 83 and make it work---.................................Thanks for all the advice Guys---and I sure hope someones got one lying around:fingers-crossed-emo.............................................La rry

  6. I suppose I'm waiting and hoping that someone has come up with a solution that doesn't require me tearing all the fairing off to get to some kinda adjustment---I have run the adjusting screw all the way out to give it as much slack as possible and it STIL will not go back into the slots--I install the backl one first--then tried to rotate the throttle to install the front one--no luck--reversed procedure--no luck--.....evry tiny bit I rotatye the throttle to install one side it pulls from the other side removing that much cable----I'm going NUTS here!!!!
  7. Heeeeeeeeelp!!!!!---I removed my throttle cables and disassembled my starter button and cruise control to clean the contacts--got that accomplished---NOW---how do I get the cables back into the throttle grip???
  8. I installed my new starter this afternoon--she fired right up!!!---BUT!---It sounds like my starter is still trying to stay engaged--the last starter was ruined when the Starter Button became stuck while I was starting it and I didn't notice it was stuck until the damage was done----I freed the starter button and it seems to be working ok---My question is--Has anyone had this problem and do you think it would be best to replace the starter button assembly while I'm this deep into it?.......................Larry:confused07:
  9. Ok guys--got starter off---took the 2 looong bolts out and sklid the front and back cover off---I have enough Brass -Copper & Metal fall out in small tiny pieces to fill the palm off my hand---not good huh?------
  10. OK guys--I think my starter is fried--My question is-do you have to remove the Outside cover to remove the starter?--I have the bolts out and it's loose but will not release ......................Larry
  11. OK guys--I think my starter is fried---Major question----Do I have to take the Outside cover off to remove the starter---I have the bolts out but it seems to still be hanging on to something---it's loose but will not come out .......................Larry
  12. Made mine from .020 stainless steel and internet purchased decals
  13. I started my 89 Venture this afternoon and left it running at idle sped to warm up--came back a few minutes later and noticed a werrrrrring sound coming from the lower front of engine--sounded very strange so I began investigating while it was running--after a few minutes it just "shut down"-at about this same time I noticed that my "starter button" had stuck "in" when I started the bike----OK---what do you guys think I ruined when this happened----I tried to restart it and nothing----the battery was hot as fire and showed no charge--i have taken it out and placed it on battery tender charge for tonight---I was just wondering what I might have shorted out or burnt up when the Starter button stuck in......thanks.............Larry
  14. Why all of these "high dollar"-"time consuming" methods?--I have a TOM-TOM 3rd Edition--I went to Wal-Mart and bought a roll of "Velcro Tape".....Covered the lower half of my cassette player cover with the Male side and the entire back of the TOM-TOM with the female side-----------It takes 2 hands and a crowbar to pry it off when I wanna store it (lol)!---and the position is perfect to just glance over and see the screen..................................Larry
