  1. Over 700 miles but it included 7 states. Started in Boston Mass. went through Rhode Island, Connecticut , New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and back to Boston. A challenge but fun!
  2. I should be in Carlsborg for two to three days. I'm not real sure as to the exact days yet as I will be traveling with my 84 year old father in law and not real sure how much progress and how many stops we will encounter each day. We will leave on Saturday the 26th of September and will travel to see his older brother in Tulsa and then on to Carlsborg. I'm not even sure of the route yet as its his trip, I'm just tagging along. I'm guessing we should be in Washington early October, on or about the 3rd I'm guessing. I would love to meet up with some of our north west members. I'll have access to a laptop each evening and will stay in contact.
  3. Hey WA. riders, I know this is off topic but I'm going to taking my 84 year old father in law to Carlsborg the first week of Oct. We will be pulling a small travel trailer and I'm curious about the weather in that part of the country this time of year. I have not decided if I will attempt to bring my RSV or not as it will have to ride in the bed of the truck. It looks like the evenings are already getting cool there but should the days be nice? If I do go to the trouble of hauling it up there, I would want some good riding weather.
  4. These bikes run so well even on three cylanders, its hard to tell. Plugs would be my next move.
  5. Really nice job there Tom:thumbsup2: Wish I could have made it over, I would like to see a pic in the daylight also.
  6. I run the Avon Venom 130 on the front of my RSTD and a stock size ME880 on the front of my RSV (until I can replace with an Avon) I don't really feel any difference between the two at low speeds. If anything, the 130 feels too light at hwy. speeds and I'll probably just go back to stock size when its time to replace. Then again, I have never had any problems with handling at low speeds. I did notice a huge difference between the Avons and the stock Bridgestones!
  7. I have the same one and I really enjoy it. It will lock OR swivel depending on which way you install the extension piece. It does not hit the tank on the RSV but does hit on the RSTD. When you install to swivel it can be a little top heavy.
  8. Everyone is different, I HATED my Mustang seat on my RSTD:2cents:, I really like the stock seat with the Butler Mod.
  9. After Mini-Bikes, my 1st street bike was an early 70's Yamaha 100 Enduro, I was 17 and pumped avgas at a local airport, sometimes the 130 octane wound up in my tank, wouldn't try that today!!! Still alot of fun to think back on...
  10. I leave both mine on Reserve with no problem or issues.
  11. The RSV I purchased a few months back appeared too have new M880's on her so I left them on, still plenty of tread. Today I noticed some "cupping" on the rear tire so I will now order a rear Avon a.s.a.p.
  12. "The Fugitive" if that counts as a detective show...
  13. Thanks for the review, I'm glad you found a helmet that is comfortable.
  14. Thanks for the Heads-up Tom, good lesson for us all! I tried the Baron Nasty Boys for about three weeks and HATED them before I went with the H.D. muffs on my RSTD and Love those. I just want quiet stock pipes on my RSV.
  15. Good to know, Goose had mentioned this to me also.
  16. Thanks for all the really great info, especially the diagram! Anyone have the Part # for the filter and know the quantity od oil? I'll start with the tire inflation and the tightening of the head bearing and then procede as necessary. Thanks Again!!!
  17. Being a 2nd gen. owner, I forgot about the center stand! Thanks!!!
  18. Thanks, any special tools required for the "case" that houses the oil filter? Also, anything to be aware of using a floorlift on 1st gens?
  19. Hey Guys and gals, I'm back with some 1st Gen. questions. I am wanting to change the oil and filter on my brothers (BearForce1) 88 Venture Royale. What if any differences is there between a first gen and a second gen.? Same tools, filter, fairing removal? If there is a link, that would be great (I couldn't find one). I have done a 2nd gen a few times in the past. Next question, he gets a horrible "wobble" when he takes his hands off the handlebars. Is there a link for tightening the head bolt or replacing the bearings? Any info on these two items would be great!
