Mufflers need to come off, but not the fender. Wait a minute, your profile doesn't say what bike you have. I don't know about them 1st gens. There should be tire change info in the Tech library. Later, Scooter Bob

If I would just remember to look for that little green light BEFORE:bang head: I pull in the cluth and embarrass myself in front of the navigator. Later, Scooter Bob

I will find out what I got for the $120. So far the only person I've talked to is the service writer gal, and I don't remember her name. Thanks for the info, Scooter Bob

If there is a next time, I'll do it myself, and look for a better parts price. I know a VR member in FDL that has the tools and soon will have the knowhow when he does his this spring. As far as paying the shop, ya it's a hundred and twenty more than expected, but I did think:scratchchin: it would help the other warranty stuff a bit if I paid for some work that should have been done long ago. They are throwing a new shock on, and didn't say a word about the trailer hitch or the luggage rack or how much stuff I've hauled with this beast. Later, Scooter Bob

$120 was for all the gaskets for the job, both banks, including the Governor's share. Ya, I tried to argue that a bit with them but... books says to do this adjustment every 26,000 miles, this is the first at 64,000. I know, some will say shame on me, but it ran soooo goood. I thought about just replacing the back one, but I was concerned about the front one starting to leak mid summer after being opened up. This way it should be good to go for a few years again. If you're runnin' on all 4 cylinders, (all 4 pipes too hot to touch) it should feel smooth at 50-55 on level road at steady speed. When my carbs are slightly out of sync, I'll notice some vibration in the left floorboard. Is this bike new? The factory sync was not good, dealer did it at the 600 checkup with a big improvement. After that, it's never been out very far and I sync about every 10,000 or so. Don't let the stealer kid you either. The carb sync is only a 15 minute job. Later, Scooter Bob

:sign cmon:Come on guys and gals. It's been over two weeks now. I'll have my bike back from the shop midweek, and would really love a new target to search for on the way home with it. Later, Scooter Bob The current target still is.... A picture of you and your bike in front of a little country church. by Scooter Bob

We had things all melted away here, but got 2" of snow on the grass overnight. But hey, it's March in Wisconsin, you'll have that. Later, Scooter Bob

:scorched:Lucky you. I didn't even find it warm enough to ride without a jacket when I was in Florida. Happy Riding Don, Scooter Bob

The coil is bad for #3 cylinder. They have that and the rear shock on order and will fix both under warranty. However, pay close attention folks, this one surprised me. They quoted $250 to do the valve adjustment. Turns out that price doesn't include the gaskets. They say they are rubber and don't need to be changed every time. But since mine was already leaking some on the back head they want to replace them. I told them go ahead, but these gaskets are $120 for both. I wonder if that's why the other shop 30 miles further up the road told me $350 for the job, maybe they include the gaskets. So check carefully when you're looking into valve adjustment. Agreed. Mine runs fine at 55 in top gear most of the time(except when that coil on #3 died 2 days ago). but if I'm climbing a good hill, or need to pass, then drop a gear and go. P.S. I rode HD's for 18 years b4 this, and after 64K miles on this bike, I still occasionally find myself looking for another gear on the freeway just because the r's seem too high. Later, Scooter Bob

I've stayed here twice over the years. First was with the the second X and her kids. We went to Six flags, and stayed here that night. Nice little family campground just over the border in WI and a little west. http://www.happyacres.com/ Stayed there a couple years later on the bike with another couple on bikes, and they were just as friendly. Just another thought, Scooter Bob

Is that your RSV owners manual, or the tire sidewall spec? (I don't have my bike handy to check the manual or the avons on it) You put on something other than standard equipment tire (not that there's anything wrong with that). That different width tire could very well require a different pressure to hold up the weight of the bike and provide the proper stiffness to hold up in the corners and such. Just an unrelated to the gauge thought, Scooter Bob

:bawling: She ran fine on the way to work Wednesday, but when I left she was running like crap. Found the number 3 cylinder has no spark. Probably lost a coil. Took it to the shop in FDL tonight after work. They said they'll check it out right away and get parts ordered and should have it back sometime next week. While they're at it, I told them about the back shock not dampening much anymore. Hopefully we'll get that covered too. Not too bad though. 64,360 miles in 4 and a half years and this is the first warranty work she's needed. While she's in there, I'm going to pay them $250 to do the valve adjustment. Hopefully she'll be good to go for the rest of the summer. Later, Scooter Bob NOT

HEY EVERYONE, Can we move the date of the International Rally to June or September? Later, Scooter Bob

I couldn't wait 2 weeks. :sun1:It was almost daylight on the way in this morning. All I know is I wasn't going to spend another day at this factory looking out at close to 60 degrees and sunshine :sun:and knowing I had to climb into the truck afterwards. Later, Scooter Bob

The steering head bearings. They do need checking and snugging up from time to time. There should be info in the tech section. However, way too tight will not allow the bike to center itself, the bars tend to stick where they are and cause a drift and a need to force all movements. If you didn't touch them, then they probably didn't tighten themselves. Back to the other folks suggestions, Scooter Bob

To Heck with the covers, I wanna CNC mill in my garage! Lucky Man Renne, and good luck with the new business. Later, Scooter Bob

You didn't happen to overtighten the neck bearings while you were up on the lift? Just a thought, Scooter Bob

Just gotta get a Boss Hoss. I think they come with 11 gallon tank new. Course that V8 can burn it up in less than 200 miles, maybe that won't help much after all. Later, Scooter Bob

Ya, they raised the price a grand for 09 cus the CD changer is now standard equipment taking up half of a saddlebag. Later, Scooter Bob

I think it was from breakfast. Gotta have plenty of shim stock available for a project of that magnitude. :thumbsup:Seriously, looks great so far. Later, Scooter Bob

All of that! It'll be light again for the ride to work in a couple weeks. I'll probably use the evening daylight to do the annual cleaning of the scoot and get that 3,800 miles of winter riding cleaned up. Later, Scooter Bob
