Yes it did. I thought about giving him some grief last night too, but it's in his hand, all he has to do put it on. If he does, it won't show up in the pic with all the red on that ride anyway. Off to find a yamy shop, but I'll get out east first and start looking there. The rest of you have a few days yet... Later, Scooter Bob

Thanks for the info, and nice website. That map is a lot easier to read than the MSF info that our ABATE site took me to. Thanks, Scooter Bob

Do they have them in New England? I'll let you know. Later, Scooter Bob

Look who I found today while out for a putt. Alive and well, well at least alive. He's been too busy truckin' to visit this sight, and worse yet, too busy to ride. And he's off to Canada in the morning. Hang in there Dan, you'll be back at it soon, we hope. Later, Scooter Bob

If ya can get the stuff real cheap, I know a guy up in Minisoda that could make a real nice lookin' sculpture out of it. Later, Scooter Bob

Karen just found a couple yellow reflective stickers layin' around here that say "motorcycles have equal rights". I bet that's what it's for. It's about 1" high and 3" wide. Perfect! Later, Scooter Bob

Sounds sweet, but I'm not sure Jonesy wants to sit on that saddlebag that long! Thanks for the tip guys, I'm usually pretty easy on the throttle anyways, but I'll watch it even closer out there. Later, Scooter Bob

Goin' to fill in the rest of my map in the area and get a saddlebag from Jonesy at Americade later the following week. Probably leavin' thursday night the 3rd of june, head south to the middle of IL and then head east through Indy and take I70 to the middle of PA and then down to DC. From there I'll be trying to ride in all those states but also trying to miss the big cities. When I get to Maine, I'm going to see if that "Haynesville road is just a ribbon of ice" in june, and then head back west to Mt Washington and then to Lake George. I'll keep posting to this thread as I go, but I'll probably camp quite a few nights so it may not be often as the trip progresses. If anyone lives along I70 in western Pa that would like company for a night next Friday, let me know. Beyond that, I have know idea where I'll end up at this point, but would like to meet a few more folks from here if it works out. Later, Scooter Bob

I see at the MSF state law list that several states (delaware, new jersey, aand vermont) require reflectorization on the lid. What does this mean. How big?, front or back or both? I'm headin' your way next week to fill in a bunch of my map and get a saddle bag from Jonesy at Americade later that week. I don't want to spend any of my vacation time explanin' my lack of knowledge to a cop. Thanks for the help, Scooter Bob

damn brakes
Scooter Bob replied to oldgoat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sounds like you're getting close on it now. I've seen that gunk in old brake systems before:think:. Maybe its what happens to old brake fluids that dry out? If this doesn't get it taken care of, help could be on the way. I'm heading east in a few days. If you'll spot me a place to crash :draming:Thursday night and give me a little beer:beersign:, I could take a look at it for you. On second thought, if I go your way, I'll miss chikago completely:cool10:, and that's worth a lot to me, so I'll even bring my own beer. Let me know how it goes, Scooter Bob -
Only a couple days left to be able to pull this one off. If it's not scored by Monday night, then I'll pick a different target. I'll need this target scored so someone else can set a new one before I leave for a trip to New England area next week. Later, Scooter Bob the current target is.... You and your bike with a new Poppy from the American Legion on the handlebars. Bonus points for the salesperson in the pic too. For you un-Americans that want to play, any red flower will do. by Scooter Bob

Avons Venom X whats the difference between these 2
Scooter Bob replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
I am changing my first one of these out today. It could probably go another couple k yet, but I have a 4k trip starting next week. This tire already has 15k on it, and you bet, I'm putting on another one. Later, Scooter Bob- 5 replies

They were sellin' in our little town last weekend already, that's why I picked it. I'm surprised you you don't have legion poppy sales stand in your yard too. Just kiddin' Don. Ya'll got me worryin'. Just ordered a new avon for the rear. I'll change it b4 I head east. While I'm at it, I'll pull the pumpkin and grease those shaft splines. (now that I've seen it done on a another bike. Thanks for bein' the guinea pig Boomer) Later, Scooter Bob

I saw a 1st and a 2nd gen in a big group ride last Sat in Cambridge, MN. Then a 2000 MM in Menomonie, WI later that evening ridin' with a HD. Just yesterday I met a 07 blue/black right here in Fox Lake. Just didn't want to start another "venture sighting" thread. I think it would be fun to see if we were spotted by folks on here when on tour. Later, Scooter Bob

Hang in there Boomer, she'll find you someday. Just keep ridin' and lookin', you can't go wrong with that plan. Actually writin' my previous reply got me thinkin'. 7k+15k+15k+15k=52k. Just rolled 66k on the bike last weekend, so that means this avon has 14k on it already. It's got a couple k in it fer sure, but I'm headin' east in a couple weeks to get a saddlebag in Massachusits and tour new england while there. Probably be a 4k trip. Unless I can find a MD on the east coast at the right time, I better change that b4 I leave. Later, Scooter Bob

From what I've heard, those E3s will do you well. Mine came stock with the bridgestones, and the back one was shot in 7k miles. I've run 3 sets of Metzler 880s off of mine and now have avon venoms. Metzlers did 14k to 15k on the rear, and it looks like the avon will do just as good. Get out there and let us know how long it lasted by the end of next month. Later, Scooter Bob

Ya, I decided to pull a "straycat". Makes fer easy shootin'. Later, Scooter Bob the current target is.... You and your bike with a new Poppy from the American Legion on the handlebars. Sorry Mike, I tried. Couldn't find any green ones, and the second dealer I went to says they sold 9 already and didn't have any on the lot. But here's a couple other colors. The next target (thanks Dunnvill Steve for the idea) ..... You and your bike with a new Poppy from the American Legion on the handlebars (like the second pic below). Bonus points for the salesperson in the pic too. For you un-Americans that want to play, any red flower will do. You've only got a week or so, Good Luck, Scooter Bob

Nice pic! and the write up to boot! I hadn't seen any movement on this as of this morning, so we scored a couple pics this morning for samples on the way home from the Minesoda M&E yesterday. And here you've got it already! Bummer. We stayed at my folks house last night in Northwestern WI. We actually went to my 1-4 grade school on the way through Wheeler WI last night. It's been turned into a church now, but the outdoor basketball court is still there. We were ten miles from my Kindergarden school in Boyceville, stayed at my folks house 2 miles from my 5-6 school in Cedar Falls, and on the way home today, within 2 miles of Menomonie Junior and Senior High School. Be a while for we can head thata way again, so good luck everyone else. But great target choice! Later, Scooter Bob
