Did the trip up Mt Washington this afternoon. It's an 8 mile drive to the top, and gains about a mile in altitude. 6,288 feet high at the summit. Here's a few pics from the turnouts on the way up. More to come, Scooter Bob

That's what Karen's been telling me about WI also. I'll do my best to bring back some this weekend. Later' Scooter Bob The current target is... You and your bike and a construction crane. Can be on wheels or tracks or a tower, boom up or down doesn't matter. Seems to be plenty of 'em around this time of year., by Scooter Bob

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I new they were alive when they went in the box, but I had no idea they wouldn't freeze to death on the westward journey. They were in such a rush to get them and some other shipments on the truck, they didn't really have time to tell me anything about them. STILL:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Lookin' forward to the pictures honey. Talk to ya later, Love Scooter Bob

Oh ya. We've met, so you know how warped I am when it comes to a reason for going for a ride. I was just worried cus nobody made any comments at all on that "kinda looked like a pretty important building" I found with no sign by it. Didn't know if everbody else is gone on Rideabout too, or if I PO'd some. Happy Hunting Don, Scooter Bob

Oddball request but maybe someone here has them....

Ya, I think I have a pair of latch sets laying on the work bench at home. If you haven't found any by the time I get home this weekend, I'll dig for 'em and see and let you know. Later, Scooter Bob -
Only got a little over 300 miles on today, but a great ride and some great scenery with some great company this morning. On and off showers all afternoon, but no big deal. I ended up in Medway, Me tonight, about an hour north of Bangor. A little over 2,300 on for the trip so far. Found, by far, the best motel of the trip tonight so far. It's right off I95 at exit 244. I'm almost afraid to use the facilities for fear of dirtying things up. The Gateway Inn...a nice, new, clean place to stay WIFI works, and it's included, No bed springs sticking out of the mattress, Feet don't stick to the floor in the bathroom, No holes punched in the bathroom door, Curtain rod not falling out of the wall, A remote for the TV, Bathroom vent fan works, And you can buy a six pack at the gas station a block away, Yes, I've run into all these problems so far this trip... And some were at a Quality Inn. This place is highly recommended by me if you're ever in the neighborhood. The morning will probably bring long john's and the big wooly socks as they have frost warnings for the area tonight. Heading to Mt Washington in northern NH, and beyond. Hoping to get to Americade midday Thursday. We'll see how that all works out.... Later, Scooter Bob

Hearthstone point campground..... I can't find an actual wesite for the place. Do they have room for another bike and tent? Will some mild beer drinkin' and BS'n be aloud? and happening? I'm about an hour south Bangor, Me tonight (Tuesday). Looks to be about 450 miles away, but I have some things to see as well along the way. Hope to get in the neighborhood around midday Thursday and meet up with Jonesy (the whole reason this trip came about http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49132 ). Thinkin' I would like to stay in Lake George Thursday night, and then have 2 easy days to get back to WI. Later, Scooter Bob

you don't HAVE to ride 1,300+ miles to get it. Across town would be fine with me. I'd love another target to keep an eye out for as I start working my way back home. By the way, can you tell I really enjoy this part of this website. It's just a lot of fun for me. It's not the destination, it's the journey. Any kiddin' or ribbin' I do is all in good fun on my end, please don't take it any other way. Enjoying the ride, Scooter Bob The current target is... You and your bike and a construction crane. Can be on wheels or tracks or a tower, boom up or down doesn't matter. Seems to be plenty of 'em around this time of year., by Scooter Bob

I don't know how you do it. I thought it was a good idea to go in on a Saturday, and couldn't believe the traffic on the surface streets at mid day. I couldn't live like that, or anywhere even close to that. Hat's off to ya, Scooter Bob

Here's a few more from the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park on the coast of Maine. Thanks again for the ride today Maineac and Christine. Later, Scooter Bob

Maybe I shouldn't go any farther in this direction.. Those big Avon's might float this ship, but I left my paddle in WI. This is from the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. More to come..Scooter Bob

Not sure what the big problem is... Stupid truck drivers I guess?? Guess I'll have to ride back here in the middle of next winter and try it again. NOT From what I here, back in the day this was the only road south from Houlton, and not near as good of shape as it's in now. More to come, Scooter Bob

Damn, looks like I only missed you by 30 miles to the south that night. Maybe next time. Look me up if you ever get to WI. Later, Scooter Bob

:rotfl: Were the wing riders mad that you defaced a machine like that??? Later, Scooter Bob

MAINEAC took us to the pier in downtown Bar Harbor, ME, and there was a Midnight RSV with NY plates mixed in with several other bikes. Later, Scooter Bob

I ended up staying with MAINEAC and Christine last night. This morning he lead us on a 100 mile putt over to the water and up to the top of Cadilac Mountain. Beautiful scenery from up there. Thanks so much for the hospitality, greatly appreciated! Here's a few pics. I have no idea where I'll end up, as I'm waiting out some rain right now in Lincoln, ME before I head up that Haynesville Road to Houlton and head back down I95. Later, Scooter Bob

4 new states on my map by 2pm. Only one left for this trip. Breakfast in RI, fuel in MA, Lunch in NH, and having supper right now in Augusta, ME. Going to head towards Bangor tonight yet. Not sure if I'll camp or Motel it, so may not get back on the puter later tonight. Tomorrow its up to Haynesville, just cause I remember it mentioned from an old truck driving song. Plus, I'll get to see a lot of ME this way. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aFzfDv2hz0]YouTube- Dick Curless / Tombstone Every Mile[/ame] Boy, it don't take much to get me to go for a ride somewhere does it? Boatloads of And the weather looks good in the area for the next couple days as well. Life is good. Time to ride, Scooter Bob P.S. Anyone in Lower Maine want company tonight? Give me a call 920_a_210_a_4652

Mine will turn 70k in a couple days, and has had regular 87 most it's life. When I was dragging a pop up camper around a few years ago, I would run mid grade to reduce the pre-ignition knock when starting out with the big load. And I have no problems with the 10% ethanol either. Doesn't seem to hurt the MPG any. And that's 10% I give to the farmers here instead of the foriegn oil big whigs. It just makes me feel better. And no, I don't want to get into the whole, fuel for the tractor issue. Along the lines of what others have said, not much to gain once the octane is high enough to stop the pre-ignition knock under low speed, heavy load. Just my , Scooter Bob

What a great day yesterday! Didn't get near as far as I thought, but a nice ride on lots of twisty 2 laners. I met up with Cecdoo for breakfast, and he lead the way on some nice roads for about 50 miles or so. Nice meeting you Craig, Thanks. Crossed into New Jewsey at Easton and then headed Northeast on county roads 519 and 521. Met a couple biker from the neighborhood while taking some pics for the VR scavenger hunt. Then back into PA (3rd time on this trip, so far...) for a bit and grabbed the big road across the 3/4th of the bottom of NY, and then back to the two lanes into CT through New Milford and Torrington, and to downtown Hartford. Stayed about 20 miles east of there in Vernon, CT. This morning, I'm going to take the two lanes to RI for breakfast, and then head North around the west side of Boston. Maybe meet up with a couple other VR members that are headed south from NH. Hope to get well into Maine tonight. Later, Scooter Bob

Someday I'll make that trip, but that one may be a few years yet, and I've got to take Karen with me. Enjoy the ride, and post often. I'd love to see some pics along the way. What part of WI did you end up in? Not that I could have met up with you since I'm in Conneticut tonight, but just curious. Later, Scooter Bob
