Ride in the Fox Lake, WI St Patrick's Day Parade March 15
Scooter Bob replied to Scooter Bob's topic in Watering Hole
Ya, That's me. Now talking 58 degrees, should be one of the best turnouts in years. I just sent direction to another guy on this site from Manitowac. For you guys, follow 33 into town from the west, and take a right at Kwik Trip(Hwy33 east) and go south 2 blocks and take a left on Cherry St. This is the staging area for the bikes. Parade starts at 1pm, lots of fun afterwards downtown. Hope to see you guys there, Scooter Bob and Karen:Venture: -

Ride in the Fox Lake, WI St Patrick's Day Parade March 15

They give us a city block next to the line up street for the bikes to gather on before the parade. Give me a call if you can make it, and I'll let you know where to meet us. Later, Scooter Bob -
I've run the 10% in my truck, the electraglide FI when I had it, and the RSV. I don't notice any lower milage at all in the bikes. I started purposely looking for E10 a couple years ago. I figured that was 10% less we needed from the foreigners, 10% to our farmers. I see my RSV owners manual says the limit is 10% though. I toured the ethanol plant just up the road a couple years ago. Most of the corn used is then resold as feed, called distillers grain, after they're done with it. I've heard we have a glut of the ethanol now because we built plants to meet a 10% of fuel demand of a couple years ago, and people aren't buying as much fuel now a days. Just my .02, Scooter Bob

Can't speak for anyone coming off a first gen, I've never been on 1. But my last bike was a 99 electraglide classic, and the amount of room for rider and passengers was a huge step up. I sat on a wing the day I test rode the RSV, and couldn't get over the intimidation of all that "stuff" stuck in front of me. I've ridden one since, nice ride, but I didn't like bending back to shift and brake. Luv my floorboards. Later, Scooter Bob

It's the unofficial start of riding season in Dodge County, WI. Our ABATE region has had an entry in this parade for better than 20 years. With the rain coming tomorrow to wash off the roads, and the predicted 46 degrees, and the looong winter, we should get a nice turnout again this year. We've had as many as 80 bikes on a little warmer years. Parade starts at 1, downtown party afterwards. If anyone here wants to join us, and would like more details, let me know. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen P.S. since I'm the Regional Rep, the ABATE group bike ride through the parade will be led by our 05 midnite with an 8 foot flag pole on the hitch.

Here's the snow plow and the snowman with the helmet. Ya, it's the same bike we put 220 miles on 3 days ago. 2 days later, had to put the plow back on the truck and clean up 5 inches. Today it's nice enough and almost safe enough to ride again. Got to love WI, Scooter Bob

Do you get some screaching and pulsating only at almost stopped speeds?? I'm still running original front pads at just over 50k miles, but i've had to fix the squeal every year. The back of the pads get dry and vibrate against the pistons and mounts. I just clean them up and put some grease on the mounting sides of the pads, and sounds quiet for most of the summer. Just a thought, Scooter Bob

Here's some pics from the first Saturday in April last year. It was around 50 degrees if I remember right, but the snowbanks were visible in the pics. A few roads weren't anything to right home about, but most were great. RR51 has a stream that crosses the road several times, and you have to ride right through it(solid base though). Lots of fun though, and it makes you go and find the back roads and a lot of great scenery in the state. Later, Scooter Bob

Here's some pics we got too late for the covered bridge target. It's on rustic road 105, west of Minoqua, off hwy 70. While we were at it, could have gotten the Chequamegan National Forest sign target. They have a rough camping campground right next to the bridge. We might go back someday with the fishing poles and stay overnight. The trip was a lot of fun last year, but about half the Rustic Roads are gravel. I don't think I would have been too comfortable taking a belt drive down that many roads. Thank goodness for shaft drive, no worries. Later, Scooter Bob

Region 1I, Dodge county. I'm the region rep. Paul Vita is the rep in 1A and has really turned thing around there the last couple years. Meetings are the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 at Kokopelli's, 6001 W Madison St, West Allis. Richie Thompson is the new Rep in 1F. His meetings are the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 at Boomers Pub and Grill N29 W24483 Watertown Rd (hwy m) Pewaukee. I'm sure either one would welcome you to a meeting without being a member yet if you want to find out what's going on in either Region. By all means, help protect your right to ride. We just had a lobby day a couple weeks ago. Check out the pics at www.abatewis.org. Check out the calendar of events while your there. Later, Scooter Bob

We'll probably leave the camera in the bike like we did last year when we toured all 107 of the Rustic Roads in the state. Our bigger problem will be getting back to the computer. We often pack the tent and leave for a few days at a time. If this starts getting replies back too fast, we'll be 4 targets behind when we get home again. But don't worry, we'll still have fun, Looking forward to meeting sometime, and maybe seeing that truck collection. Have you got any from the 60s?? Later, Scooter Bob and Karen

I read through this whole thread yesterday to see what other targets have been used (probably should have done that before we picked the new one). We could have picked any color combine, but I just happened to pick the green one. Sorry As far as you're other hobby, I had a 67 1/2ton 2wd 266v8 3 on the tree in high school. After I moved to the Beaver Dam area, I had a 66 3/4 ton 4wd I6 4 on the floor with a factory pto winch bumper(what a beast of a truck). After that I had around a 62 1/2 ton 2wd with the slant 4 (looks like the left bank was cut off, same rocker cover as the v8) and 3 on the tree. Lastly, I needed a plow truck where I moved in 2000 and found a 72 scout 4wd with a 304 auto and plow. There all gone now, but I always liked the looks of the 60's trucks, must be why Dodge tried to copy them in 93. Glad you're keeping the scavenger hunt going. Seems like a lot of fun to us and we'll be participating a lot more. I hope it stays active. All but a couple of things that have been on the list could be found within 100 miles of here. Come to think of it, maybe we'll just go find everything that's already been found. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen

By jove, I think we've got 'em. Here should be pictures of the "X" at EXclusive Automotive center. If so, and we are the winners of this prize, I believe we get to pick the next target. If that's the case, we want to see you and your bike in front of a John Deere combine at an implement dealer. Have fun and by all means, enjoy the ride!! Scooter Bob and Karen

It seemed just too easy to find a business with an "X" in the name where we live in FoX Lake, WI, so we rode 110 miles south to FoX Lake, Il today to look there. Found a place called EXclusive Automotive center that sells dress up goodies for cars and trucks. As we are new to posting, we'll start trying to get the pics on here. Hopefully we'll have them up in a little bit. Scooter Bob and Karen PS, what a great day for a ride in March in Wi. 220 mile round trip. Cool when we left and cool when we got back, but in the low 60's in Northern IL early afternoon.
-
We'l find an "X" later today, at least 100 miles from where we live in Fox Lake, WI and have the pic here Friday night. This should be fun!!! Later, Scooter Bob and Karen PS. That is if we can figure out how to download the pic?? See you all tonight.

Ok, we can't sit home and drink anymore and keep an eye on this screen. We'll check back in the morning at 9 am. Ya, it is only Friday, probably not the greatest time to plan a get together. But, maybe I'm kind of nuts, in past years I've taken vacation days at the last minute just to get some miles on early in the season. If anyone can make it tomorrow, be glad to see you. I hate to mention this, (no offense to the flantlanders) but if we don't get any takers, we might just go to Ill for lunch, just cus we can (only 100 and some miles to the border, and we'll have good evidence) On second thought, maybe we'll check and see how the great venture rider scavenger hunt is going and jump in on that for someting to do. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen

Maybe we phrased things a little wrong?? We know where to find food and drink all over Wisconsin. What we were wondering, is anybody else around here going for a ride tomorrow, and if so, would you like to ride and meet for lunch? We've seen a lot of cheese heads joining here lately, and hope to meet you all someday. Scooter Bob and Karen

Thanks to the slow manufacturing sector, they won't let us go to work tomorrow (damn the luck). Can't see any good reason not to put on a couple hundred miles. We're in Fox Lake; between Madison and Fond du lac. Looking for any suggestions for a lunch stop anywhere in the middle of the state. We're kind of new to the site, but I think what we might be after is an impromptu M&E. We'll watch the site for a while tonight and log on for sure at 9 am tomorrow to discuss any options/takers. Hope to see you riding tomorrow, Scooter Bob and Karen

I think I pulled a side cover to get at the clutch bleed screw once. I don't recall leaking any coolant. I do believe there are rubber plugs under the cover the could be the source of you're leak. If I remember right, the manual says not to run without the covers because the covers hold the plugs in, sort of. Good Luck, Scooter Bob
