  1. :cool10:Thanks much Kenny and Beth, I had a wonderful time. Great meeting everyone:banana:. Hope everyone made it home safe. Here's a few pics I took along the way. Later, Scooter Bob Never Mind, Apparently I cant upload pics from this hot spot. I'll try again later.
  2. :confused24:It's 35 degrees already, the sun :sun:is coming out, and should be in the 50's at the Meet and Wrench. And I don't have to scrape an 1/4" of frost off the seat today! Meeting Walter and his wife and CMIKE at a truck stop by Jackson at 9:30, and heading south! Should Be A Blast Today. Later, Scooter Bob
  3. Not only does everybody talk funny down here, they'll let anybody drive down here.... Found these dogs across the parking lot at the motel tonight.. Later, Scooter Bob
  4. Sweet!! , I think? How early is early down here? I'll be hitting the road by 8 or before. We'll see what happens by then. Can't change it, just dress for it. Thanks for the update, Scooter Bob
  5. I was just looking at that weather a bit ago. Sure hope it's done by morning. I quit at Winona, MS; not cus of weather, my butt couldn't take it anymore! I will try to meet up with Walter and his wife in Richland by 9:30 and we'll head down from there. Looking forward to meeting ya'll, Scooter Bob
  6. "Watch that ***** Shovel!! " And I thought you were going to tell about a ride with Squidley. Take it easy, and get that checked out if need be. Later, Scooter Bob
  7. It's TOOO HOTTT down here, or maybe I was just overdressed. I started out at 18 degrees, and it was in the fifties when I quit about an hour before sundown. That and my butt just couldn't take it anymore. Am I getting older? I pulled the pin in Winona, MS, about 80 miles north of Jackson. Only 415 miles today, but it seemed like it should have been much more. Maybe that detour to see wasn't such a good idea after all. What am I saying, ya it was. :sign13:Sorry Walter. I do appreciate the offer to stay, but it just wasn't the cards for me. I'll have a fresh butt in the morning, and we'll hook up for the ride to the Loozeaner Meet and Wrench. I did see a few bikes on the road today. I met three at different times, and I had 3 Harley riders pass me just before I got here. They were all packed up and probably riding to Daytona as well, but they had MS plates. But hey, two of them waved back as they passed. Karen, I've mailed you my credit card so you can bail yourself out. Don't worry, if I run short of cash on the way home, I'll just rob a bank. The cops will be drug testing the witnesses :Im not listening towhen they say "he left on a black motorcycle in the snowstorm". Later, Scooter Bob
  8. If it was North of Elpaso, it was probably me. DynoDon and I rode together from there to Bloomington, then he headed back towards Washington, and I headed South. And I just looked at the atlas, and you didn't miss me by much. I think it was Lasalle where I got fuel at the Caesy's a half mile west of I39! Maybe next time, Scooter Bob
  9. Thanks! That was a nice little town. Garmin dumped me off the big road about 10 miles north and sent me down a nice windy county rd the rest of the way. It was nice to see hills and trees again. I think you got the wrong guy. Jeff (Red Rider) from Fond du lac was looking for one a few days ago, but I think he might be all set. Might want to check with him though, as the other seat was coming down from Canada. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45588 Thanks, but probably won't work out well for tomorrow. I'm meeting up with Walter(wes0778) around 9:30 tomorrow, and riding down with him to the Loozeaner Meet and Wrench. But I'll be heading to Florida from there on Sunday. (hint, hint) Later, Scooter Bob
  10. :whistling:Just to prove to any skeptics that this thread is real, and not some giant Practical Joke dreamed up by some snowbound Cheeshead, here's a pic of my bike in front of the statue in Metropolis, IL. (since Don and I both forgot to take a pic of the M&E yesterday) Thanks for the target Mike. Nice area down there once you get off the big road. Sorry Karen, It's all Garmin's fault, she set the route from superman to Jackson. Wound up on some of the same roads we were on last summer. I know, shame on me, never the same road twice... Later, Scooter Bob
  11. I wonder if he could FLY me and bike to Loozeaner? It's 18 degrees and sunny again this morning. I should be on the road a little after 7. Looks like I'll be stripping clothes off by the time I get to Memphis, supposed to be 50 there today. HEAT WAVE Later, Scooter Bob
  12. MRAF, In case you didn't know, this is a link to my crazy trip.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45537 Later, Scooter Bob
  13. Mt Vernon, IL. Not quite a hundred miles from MO where I will jump on I55 south to Loozeaner(did I spell that right, or was there supposed to be three o's?) If you want to follow the rest of my crazy journey, it's all here.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45537 Later, Scooter Bob
  14. Damn, and I was planning to tent it. I could just go back to WI if all I wanted to do was camp in sub freezing weather. Oh well, I've done it before. How far away are the warm ocean breezes anywho??? Later, Scoooter Bob
  15. I kept it around 70 most of the time, just didn't stop much. After I left you, I stopped once in Matoon for fuel and a phone call to my honey, and next thing I knew, I'm less than a hundred miles from MO line. Thanks again for the making the impromtu central IL meet and eat. That was a nice visit, and a nice break. Later, Scooter Bob
  16. And I just got done with 460 miles today, all below freezing temps. I'd love to trade you for a few miles Annie??? Later, Scooter Bob
  17. Oh ya, that's right, I left a day late, it is Thusday already:bang head:. Guess I don't have to track it and see if I can catch up with it. If I can do anywhere close to what I did today for miles and time, should get there plenty early Saturday afternoon. Thanks, Scooter Bob
  18. 460 miles south, there's almost no snow, and everyone talks with an accent! I made it to Mt Vernon, IL. I've got a cheap motel with WIFI and breakfast tomorrow. My favorite Mushroom and Swiss from Hardees is right across the parking lot, and I found a 6 pack. :beersign:Life is good. It was great to have another bike to ride with for a bit, hiway was pretty lonely otherwise. Had a couple Hardley riders rubbernecking as they went by with bikes in tow:mytruck:(probably headed the same place I am). Had a nice lunch with Don, and thanks for the wrenches. I think that took care of it. (started seeping oil out of the cam cover left rear, guess it doesn't like startin up at 8 degrees out. snugged up the bolts 1 flat) Later, Scooter Bob PS Karen, Thanks for all the help and support, I love you and miss you.
  19. Suns :sun:coming up just super this morning, not much wind, just a little on the cold side. :cold:It's 6 degrees right now, so I'll have to dump in a few of those chemical heat packs right away and hope they work good. Gonna have to wait a little bit for the ice to melt off these side streets, or else I might scoop a bunch of sand out of the grandkids sandbox and spread it on the road for a half a block. Karen says I have to go today. We're out of the milk and OJ that I drink, so OUT OF HERE she says. Later, Scooter Bob
  20. The sun popped out a little around 10 am, so I shoveled the driveway and started getting ready to leave. About 11, it started snowing:cold: and blowing and drifting across the roads, so I have scrapped leaving for today. I hope I can get out right away in the morning, as it has finally stopped snowing, and the sun is coming out again. Later, Scooter Bob, At least I have beer and a good woman here. NOT
  21. Owen, He mentioned this one earlier "there is a hotel in town (Travlers Rest and Sportsman Inn)." I've never been there so I don't know if there are any others. Will have to wait for one of the locals to chime in for any more options. Everyone else down there, The sun popped out a little around 10 am, so I shoveled the driveway and started getting ready to leave. About 11, it started snowing and blowing and drifting across the roads, so I have scrapped leaving for today. I hope I can get out right away in the morning, as it has finally stopped snowing, and the sun is coming out again. Hopefully I can get in there later Saturday afternoon. We'll see how tomorrow goes. Stuck in Snowy Paradise, Scooter Bob, At least I have beer and a good woman here.
  22. I love a challenge! If I ever get out of here and headed south, I'll go and look for it when I get to Florida early next week. Later, Scooter Bob
  23. Ya, What Dano said!!
  24. Tire's making way better time than I am. It's halfway through Flatland already, and I'm sitting at home :whistling:waiting for the snow plow to go by. How late are you guys wrenchin' Saturday night?? Later, Scooter Bob
  25. I thought we had a winner for the Great VR Scavenger Hunt..... The current target is..... You and your bike with a beach in the background. Prefer warm and sunny with sand and blue water, but so everyone can play, I will settle for hard water and snow covered sand as well. Have fun with it... BONUS...I'll buy you a beer at the international if you're wearing your (or anybody else's) swimming suit. by Scooter Bob Body work looks great by the way. Later, Scooter Bob
