  1. I saw it, we have a winner, waiting for the next target. Oh ya, Thanks again everyone that has helped thin the herd. Later, Scooter Bob
  2. Good job on the hunting Steve!! Waiting anxiously for the next target:whistling:. Hopefully the Yahoo alert works so I can get it while on the road today. Later, Scooter Bob
  3. :stirthepot:How hard are you trying?? Does your computer desk face the window to the woods behind your house?? :sign just kidding:Just Kiddin, Jeff. Please keep at it though:080402gudl_prv: Now, if I could figure out how to combine these two smilies... Later, Scooter Bob
  4. Get that bike out by where you hung them, or next to the pile of them in the back of your truck, and win the Great VR Scavenger Hunt in the Fun and Frivolous section. your next target is...You and your bike and a deer you have just harvested from the woods, bow or gun, I don't care, just get rid of more of them to keep the rest of us safe on the road next summer Thanks again for thinning the herd everyone. Later, Scooter Bob
  5. Thanks for stirrin Don, but.... Before I saw your post this morning, I saw a new thread in the watering hole about deer hunting, and two guys from WI have killed 3 each this year . I'm going to nudge them to get the pic so we can move on. Hopefully they can get it done this morning, cus I'll be riding this afternoon, and could use a target I can play with... Later, Scooter Bob your next target is...You and your bike and a deer you have just harvested from the woods, bow or gun, I don't care, just get rid of more of them to keep the rest of us safe on the road next summer
  6. There's a snap ring on the pumpkin side of the wheel. Remove it and the 6 finger drive hub assembly will pull straight out of the rim, and you'll see the pins. There is also a needle bearing in that side of the wheel, but what you'll see is the center race of it. Pull it out ( it has a taper on one end, be sure to put it back in the way it came out) to add wheel bearing grease to the needles. Since this sounds like your first tire change, I hope it's a fairly new bike, and this may be greased well as RandyR pointed out a couple replies back. Later, Scooter Bob
  7. For a little more piece of mind, the other end of the axle is pinched in the swingarm by another bolt. While your at that rear tire change, be sure to check the tech articles hear about removing the drive hub from the rim and lubricating the drive pins and the needle bearing. Dry drive pins causes a clicking in the back end at low speed and when pushing it back out of the garage. Good Luck, Scooter Bob
  8. Had a great time meeting you guys. Wish we could have made PIP last year, but we'll try harder for the next one. Steve, thanks for the nice route back to my folks in Menomonie, took an extra hour or better, but well worth it. Saw enough of the big cities on the way there anyway. I met a couple folks on a '07 blue and black RSV just east of Princeton, MN a little after 2 pm Saturday on Hwy 95. Anybody from here ?? See you guys later, Scooter Bob Oh ya, I really, really, really needed another 700 miles this year. My head cleared up great this weekend. And got to spend a couple evenings with my folks along the way. Thanks again,
  9. I put the yahoo password into my phone before I left to the MN meet and eat this weekend. I was still waiting to find out what was going on so I could make afterwards plans. I knew folks had replied to the thread, but I wasn't getting e-mails. Looking forward the final solution to this problem. Later, Scooter Bob
  10. bump
  11. Weather not looking to bad. If I get a wild hair (no offense Lowell) up my you know what, what are the plans for the day. Any after event with a place to crash? I not, I've got some relatives around Monticello. Any info would be appreciated. I feel the need to put on a few more miles this year, and that 600 to 700 mile round trip might just be the ticket. Later, Scooter Bob
  12. Wow, learn something new every day. Now I guess I'm done for today. Should I go back to bed? or go for a ride? Ride it is, Later, Scooter Bob
  13. Show him a good time Cinderella:guitarist 2:, and tell him Karen and I say hi. Oh, don't tell him about the beautiful sunshine we're having up here again today, he might get bummed :bawling:about not being able to ride, like we're going to be doing. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen P.S. it's almost 10 o clock, it's about time you go and wake him up:stickpoke:
  14. I'm not an electrical engineer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Seriously though, I have dabbled in this stuff over the years, but if we have an electrical engineer in our midst, please confirm my findings. You need an additional resistor in line to reduce the voltage to the light bulb, not a diode. Using ohm's law, your light bulb resistance should be 2.6 ohms. An additional .25 ohm resistor should cut voltage to the bulb about 10%. But, I believe the resistor will need to handle more than 5.5 watts. (10% of the power). Hope this help, Scooter Bob
  15. I was hoping for a pic after the hunt when you get home, deer can still be in the back of the truck, or on the hood, or the roof, or hanging from the tree. Just roll the bike out into the pic. But if someone wants to ride to a friends place or finds a hunting camp, and take a pic of their deer, that's fine to. If it's not hit by the end of Thanksgiving weekend, then I'll settle for the fake deer lawn ornaments, we saw a ton of those yesterday while looking for the turkey. I've seen that done a few times around here. In mid October, former State Senator Dave Zien (million mile HD man) hit a deer on the way to the State ABATE meeting with the new bike HD gave him when they put the old FXRT in the museum. New bike had 70k miles on since April. He threw the deer over the back seat and continued the ride to the meeting. Later, Scooter Bob your next target is...You and your bike and a deer you have just harvested from the woods, bow or gun, I don't care, just get rid of more of them to keep the rest of us safe on the road next summer. by Scooter Bob
  16. Ya, :dancefool::dancefool:Way to go...
  17. What he said. When I heard it on the news early this week, I heard it was 4 guys doing the robbin' and in Milwaukee. They saw the ID, and discussed it, and gave everything back to him. They were still on the lamb though. Hopefully that will change, Scooter Bob
  18. Had some time, and fair weather this afternoon, so we rode around for an hour and a half looking for the flock of wild turkeys first, and then anything that resembled a turkey or pilgrim. Turns out damn near everyone still has Halloween decorations out yet. We finally found this little turkey in Waupun. So, if it meets with your approval Don; and in the spirit of the recent seasonal theme...and to protect folks like me and BongoBobny that only seem to hunt out of season with the RSV... your next target is...You and your bike and a deer you have just harvested from the woods, bow or gun, I don't care, just get rid of more of them to keep the rest of us safe on the road next summer.
  19. :sign06:I'm starting to care so little for the turkeys:doh: playing tidlywinks in Green Bay, that I had no problem burning up fuel in the bike instead of sitting in the bar watching the game and getting an ulcer. Later, Scooter Bob the current target is a Turkey or a Pilgrim, actual or sign (oh, and plus you and your bike of course), by dynodon
  20. I think the target is fine. We had some crap weather around here for quite a while, but it got muuuch better a week ago. I've burned up a couple tanks of fuel doing other thing, and didn't see any turkeys on the way. I can't seem to find the flock of wild turkeys that used to be on the way to work either. I'll keep looking for them though. Later, Scooter Bob
  21. Who do I know with a Chevy Venture Minivan, or a Yamaha Venture Touring Snowmobile???
  22. Not that tough for a lot of us, I road HD's for years, and have lots of friends that still do. But.... I wasn't going to participate in continuing a "brand rivalry". I here many here complaining about HD riders that don't wave, or do other rude things. I don't see much of that around here, yes, in WI. So I just didn't want to be the one to be starting something either and get mentioned on HRRIDERS . org or whatever. But interesting target just the same. Later, Scooter Bob
  23. You're not adjusting the mixture, but the throttle plate position. You need al 4 throttles acting in sync to feed the same amount of mixture to each jug, so they all put out the same power at the same time. Hope this Helps, Scooter Bob
  24. Tapping sound could also be the starter relay pulling in, but not passing current through the contacts. I see you just changed the battery, are the connections clean and tight? Check the connections on the other end of the big battery wires also. Just a couple more thoughts, Scooter Bob
