  1. There is no connection between the TCI & the cruise that I am aware of with the exception of the 12V+ feed & ground connections. Cruise should not be affected. My cruise, which is a stock Venture 88 configuration functions the same whether I have a stock TCI in or the Ignitech in. Gary
  2. You're kidding right. I am happy to remember the parts I bought, let alone the ones I missed out on. The UPS truck automatically pulls over in front of my house, just so the driver can check his sheet to see what I have that day. I bought a grab bag pile of VMax parts a week ago, there were a few neat things in there and I think I can flip a few on Ebay to get my money back. Gary
  3. I am in shape, round is a shape. In 1986 the science fiction magazine Analog published following: A lion wakes up each morning thinking, “All I’ve got to do today is run faster than the slowest antelope.” An antelope wakes up thinking, “All I’ve got to do today is run faster than the fastest lion.” A human wakes up thinking, “To hell with who’s fastest, I’ll outlast the bastards.” I am like the 8th slowest antelope, I plan a week ahead. 4. That explains why. I was somewhat surprised you didn't show any interest in the Ignitech unit. After all, you got a new shiny one, that had to cost dearly, and its rock solid technology, I think its based on an 8088 chip, 8 bit state of the art, 3 decades ago anyways. Gary
  5. TCI order has been accepted by Ignitech this morning. I believe they understand about the cable lengths, they dropped the upcharge. I also got them to throw in the male side of the connector that hooks in to the bikes harness. Reason for this is the Ignitech plug locks do not match the bikes harness locks. With the other end users can choose to swap out this connector if desired. The connector as it is has given me no problems, I just asked for these because they probably threw them away anyhow. Paid a $1.00 for the terminals for each pair but it was worth it. The connector swap is NOT necessary to use the TCI. See attached picture of what I sent them. Picture shows two six pin connectors, will be getting one six pin & one eight pin connector. Haven't seen a shipping notice yet, but it will take a little time to get harnesses made up. 2nd picture shows an 83-89 Venture harness. I really hope this all comes together, it's looking good at this point. Gary
  6. The cable with the adjuster nut goes to the left most carb hole (straight up & down). This is pull cable. It goes to top of wheel in junction box. Other cable goes to angled mount more towards center of carb body. This is return cable. Gary
  7. Thank you Don, That is much better. Missed that memo. Gary
  8. About all they are going to see on mine is YAMAHA across the trunk !! That is if they have good distance vision. Gary
  9. I am OK on cash, It was about $100 more than I anticipated. But I am still OK. My paypal balance is zero at this point. But I did get two extra TCI's with what I had to put in. So I am fine. And I am making a little money at this. I have spent a lot of time getting this coordinated. Just finding a affordable map sensor was very time consuming. I found a very nice lady to deal with at a China based company that has been fantastic to work with. Her grasp of English is better than mine. She has gotten me tech specs & dimensional drawings and pinouts very quickly. The sensors were very nicely packaged and construction looks good. I haven't tested any yet, but I am confident they will be fine. Now the people in Czech, that is another can of worms, as far as the language barrier. Last problem was, I requested that they add the 3 MAP/TPS wires to the connector and make them 1 meter long. They interpeted that to mean I wanted the entire adapter harness 1 meter long. This would be a PIA to deal with. And they invoiced me about 80 ($120 USD) Euros for the additional length. I revised the invoice and paid it tonight without the extra length & upcharge. I have no idea how the email tomorrow morning is going to read when they translate it. I even sent a picture of the last harness they sent me with notes on it. They had difficulty grasping the concept the 90-93 Venture was different than the 90-07 VMax so far as wiring harness. VMax fuel pump does not go through the TCI, Venture does so it needs different adapter cable. I drew schematics for each of the 3 different cable versions(83-89Venture & 85-89 VMax is 3rd one) so they could visualize it. I still may need to modify cables, but I think they understand. Gary
  10. I finally got a response from Ignitech today and got the TCI's paid for & ordered. Dealing with them has been a challenge due to the language barrier. Paypal gave me an unexpected loss by using a much different exchange rate than common market values, but reading the terms & conditions, they can do that. I probably won't have them by the weekend as I had hoped for,so they won't get sent out Monday. DHL has taken 4 days transit time to get overseas packages delivered. And they are not cheap. I have two extra TCI's coming if anyone is still interested. Gary
  11. Considering how absolutely worthless the search engine is here, good luck. Love you Don, know its not your fault, it's Vbulletin software. And, yes, I do know how to use a search engine. I do it quite often in my job looking up technical info. Gary
  12. Just checked the 83-85 service manual. Same in 86-93 service manual. Specification is for gap of 0.8 ~ 0.9mm (0.031" ~ 0.035") Plug type DPR8EA-9/NGK, X24EPR-U9/Nippondenso Gary
  13. OK, I am going to hate myself for asking this, but... How do you know they clocked you at a 150 if they didn't stop you?? I really don't hate myself after all, know what I am sayin' Dingy, who has seen the radar readout at 120MPH (193KPH btw), long time ago. Gary
  14. Your welcome, I think ?? Gary
  15. I resemble that remark, and will raise you guys a (*&^$*(*&*^ dang &^%$^&()_?>* dang (*&*(^$%%^. So there !! Gary
  16. It has been my experience that as a general rule a spark plugs life is from when you put it in till when you are sure it is the source of whatever ails the motor & you decide to change them, good, bad, or just dirty. My dad had a sand blaster that was made just for spark plugs and the were like a cat, nine lives. He was a pro dirt track racer, and he led about half the Daytona Beach race in his Triumph Elite class in 1949, so I think he may have known a thing or two. Try gapping them a little tighter on the next set, like .032" and see what it does. Shorter arc may not erode plug as badly. Gary
  17. Received the MAP sensors & harness from China today. Gary
  18. Sorta like a 350 V8 motor with a 3/4 race cam and a 750 holley on top !! Gary
  19. I have read that the Jason mod causes rough idle at best. I can see little benefit by tying the cylinders together through a 1/8" vacuum hose. The intent behind it seemed to be too help power in the same way the Vboost does on the VMax's. There is way too small a cross sectional area in a 1/8" hose to have any real effect in my opinion. Gary
  20. I have an extra. Send me a PM. Also a number of them on ebay. Search yamaha cable venture Gary
  21. I will be ordering the Ignitech TCI's that I have payments for tomorrow, 8/15/11 If there is anyone else interested, contact me today, 8/14/11. Gary
  22. If you hook the TCI in and properly energize & ground pins it will. Of course it needs fuel source, cooling reservoir, some big bolts to hold it down !! It will run like crap, but it will run. These motors are very temperamental to intake air flow steam & exhaust. You will have to remove u-joint on middle drive gear. Gary
  23. The speed bleeders will also leak air on an old set. Is bike on side stand? (saw it was an RSV, so it has to be), If it is on side stand, there could be a pocket of air in slave cylinder that is a little higher than the bleeder. Get it as straight up as possible. Put at least 5 wraps of Teflon tape on, as much as you can and get it started into female port on slave. It only takes a minuscule hole to pull air in, it will drive you nuts. Slow pumping on mighty vac or you will build a high vacuum in line and promote leaking around the threads. If it isn't leaking at master end it has to be a bleeder leak. Assuming the slave is new and not leaking internally at least. Gary
  24. Jason, I have a set of 8mm core graphite wires that were new last summer. Took them off this year due to COPS setup. Cut to length for stock coil location on a 1st gen. Caps have SB05E - 5K ohm on them. Inside caps are bright, shiny brass. Paid $55 for them, you can have for $25 & shipping. They will fit is a small priority box. Gary
  25. Best of luck to Ponch. Gary
