  1. Why do you think they invented aluminum foil?! Duh!! I loved my XM until they merged with Sirius. They raised the rates and added DJs to every station to which I listen. If I want to know what song they are playing or who is playing it, I'll look a the digital info!
  2. Also check with Rick at Buckeye Performance. He is really knowledgeable on these bikes. http://buckeyeperformance.com/
  3. Same 2 U, Mister Ambassador! Keep the rubber down, Amigo!
  4. Looks like your trying to build a "YamaKing"!!! Looks good though; nice lines. I had a YamaKing for a while after I crashed on the Dragon. Here is a picture from the rear, don't think I have any others.
  5. Like The Squid said:................."Welcome Home short Jeff!! Even if it's for a time ":rotfl: I'm with you on that one, Eck! Although you and I would tip a cold Miller while the Muffin would tip a cold Pepsi!!! Welcome home Jeff!!!

  7. I just sent PP for 2 1st gen pins! Can't wait to get 'em!
  8. Hey, Mike. I'm in Mayretta and I have a carbtune. If you want to get together next Sun. (or an afternoon this week) we can probably do your carbs. I haven't done a 2nd gen, but I reckon we can figure it out with some input from some of the other Harley-wanna-bees out there!
  9. You be Frank and I''ll be Ernest!
  10. I have the same problem and have spent a couple of years stopping only where there was a hill or a friend to push, if the stop were to be less than 10/15 minutes. I have since learned that if your clutch switch is working (which you can check by setting the cruise control and pulling the clutch in a little, it should cancel the cruise), you can start the bike with the kickstand up and the clutch pulled in. I had to take the clutch switch apart and clean it so that it moves freely.
  11. If you look at the 1st and last pics, you will see a short black whip antenna on the right side. It could be that an after market radio was added or it has a stock radio and the antenna was changed.
  12. I want a couple of 1st gens, Bob, but having CRS, I need to know the price and paypal info again! Thanks, Dude!

  15. Another cause of this sort of thing is in the computer module. If you are going to crack the fairing, pull the computer board out and resolder all of the joints. Yamaha is bad about cold solder joints! Right now my 86 shows the headlight icon when I hit the high beams. I'm going to resolder the next time in the fairing! For now................I'm just living with it.
  16. When I first got my 86, I kept blowing past the red line on the tack, so I asked a friend that was a super mc mechanic if he could put a rev limiter on it for me. He said "What year is it?" I said "86". He replied that it already had one. I said "No it doesn't cause I keep running past the red line!" He said "Watch this", he started it and opened the throttle all the way. At 10 grand the rev limiter kicked in! (If you look at a VMax tach, it red lines at 9500) He said "I wouldn't go there too often but you've got it if you need it." Now, I told you all that to tell you this: I was riding with a friend that was on an HD Ultra. We had previously talked about racing and had just missed a turn. We weere riding along at 5 mph or so talking about the missed turn. The road ran straight to the horizon. He asked if I wanted to race. I said "Count it down!" He did and I went to the rev limiter in first and then again in second. When I shifted to third, I looked down and I was doing 103mph!!! The first gen WILL top 100 miles per in 2nd gear! My advise: sync the carbs, run some SeaFoam through it and ride the hell out of it!!!
  17. Spanish?!? Nah..............Spanglish maybe. I spent 13 years in the Big D, Y'all need to learn to speak Texan. Y'all down there know what I'm talkin' 'bout, Y'all be safe now, y'hear!?!

Very Nice indeed! My brother had a '68 Lightning. Biggest, heaviest bike I had ever riden in my life at the time! Tried to pop a wheelie from a light one time. Did it just like I did with my 350 Honda, rev'ed it up and dumped the clutch. It was so heavy that the front wheel didn't lift at all, the back tire just spun and lit up!!! Didn't know I could do a burnout! In my garage is a '65 650 Firebird Scrambler that a friend bought new; there were only 250 imported that year. It was rusting in his backyard and he said that if I would work on it and not forget who it belongs to, he would pay for parts. Hmmmmm, I need to get started on that project!
  24. I lived in the Big D for 13 years and I don't remember a lot of Cajun food! Texas........318 miles and 11 turns!!!
