    welcome to the crazy train. The 2 complaints from what Ive read and heard myself are common . If you are haveing intermitant whining then you are better off than some as a lot of peaple have complained about the whine quite a bit. ANd as for the loud pipes , if ypu want to quite them down then maybey you can make a trade with some one who has stocker and are wanting louder pipes. David

    on mine its a push button connector. Like the ones you see in a car. When the door is closed the connection is closed and the light is out. when its open the connection is open and the light is on. Mine isnt wired wright now. Haveing a few problems. Either switch or wire has a short. If I can Ill go outside and snap a pic tonight for you. David

    OK sorry if this has already been asked. I did several serches and came up empty first. I know that my 1991 uses a ch6002 parts number filter. Thats where the rub comes in. Nobody in my area except the dealor carries it and hes crazy at $20. I have found at a local auto parts store the ch6000 and the ch 6003 . Will either of these work? they look to be smaller than the ones Ive used from what I remember.But that is dealing with my memory and sometimes it fails me. Seems to me I remeber someone talking about using the ch6000 . Any help is apreciated. David

    Hey Randy, Ive been looking on the dulop site for the rear tire for my 91. What is the crossover size as it looks like Greek to me now? Unless I looked at it wrong. David

    got the same type silverstar ultra in my bike and my wifes shadow. In my 91 its no problems. In the wifes shadow I was having the same problem. I took it back out to see what was going on and sure enough, bad connection. With the bad connection it was arching and causing the low beam to be bright some times, low sometimes and not at all some times. Because of the arching I had to clean the termnals on the bulb and replace the plastic h-4 conector on the wiring harness. it melted the harness from the arching and made it worse. Hope this helps as it so far has worked for the wifes bike. david

    thats purdy................. how do you lock a leather bag? Please forgive my ignorance as I would have loved to known this when we went shopping for bags for the wifes shadow. David

    Earl you are welcome at my home any time. NO fixin needed. The bike is down but I can always get my fix on Lauras bike or my buddies HD fat boy. As for now Im just leaving the old girl alone till I can put together the funds, and till I can get her trailerd to muffinmans for the due repairs. Im no mechanic and I fill that Ive done enough damage trying to fix it, I should know better than to have tried it myself as I always get agrevated. I havent given up as I love my bike. Dont think il ever replace her unless she gives me no choice. LIke already stated.......You are always welcome at my place. david

    And here I was thinking you was going to say you lost some weight or something...............you know round is a shape.....HEHEHEHEHE but seriously why are you in here playing on the computer with a perfectly good bike setting in wait for a rider............mine is setting but not waiting...........shes tired and threw a clutch plus maybey some other parts. comgrtas on the repairs.     Ive just recently been able to help out a couple, On our way home from mantenence day the wife ( shadow queen) and I were traveleing the blue ridge parkway a bit. We came along a couple of hikers . They were setting there tired,head hanging. After a qjuick conversation I ended up taking the young lady over to our trailer,opening the cooler and telling them to help them selves. They ate several ham sanwiches and took quite a few drinks with them. In the short conversation we found out that they hadnt eaten all day and were out of food. They were also at least a 40 mile hike from the nearest town. There was also another venturerider and his wife( sorry I cant remember there names) that we had seen at the M&E in ohio that also opened there trailer for food too. Wasnt much but man did it make me feel good. Oh yeah we ended up going to the next town and buyibg a small bag of dogfood too. their dog was hiking with them and although they didnt ask Im an animal person so he had to eat too. David

    not shifting at all in any position Ive tried today. Now for the worst part, I do believe Ive got a clutch problem . It is eaither the problem with the shifter or or a seperate problem to boot. Had to try to move the bike today as I needed the trailer out of the back yard. The bike is stuck in 5th gear and i was hoping to be able to limp it out of the way , so I let out the clutch slowly to see if I could get the old girl to move . I only needed about a foot . I eventually eneded up l;etting the clutch all the way out and the motor never bogged or stopped. Full release and no movement or shut down of the motor.Ended up getting the neighbor to help me push her out of the way. David

    went for a ride to the dragon this weekend. Every thing felt good there and back till my last stop. When I went to downshift on the exit ramp the shifter pedal went from normal to pointing straight down to the ground. I talked top muffinmman and he said to check the bolt that held the shifter to the transmision spline( think thats what it is called). the one that comes out of the side of the tranny. The bolt was loose but not broke so I tightened it up. Hers where it gets weird. Before I tightened the bolt I could shift up or down by hand . Now it is stuck in 5th gear. will not shift. I did pull the cog off of the splined gear to check , I think i got it bac in the same place not sure. help please as its too soo to end my year and I cant afford to put her in the shop just yet. Any ideas will be appreciated. My # is 336 707 5561 if anyone has any ideas that they arent sure they can explain over the internet or if you kneed more explanations of what Ive done. Im not a mechanic so I stopped where i was as Im not sure if it not changing is me putting it in a bind or if it want change because it cold as its always a little hard to get it to change before you warm it up. Again any help will be appreciated. David.

    No the duck didnt get mad and it was stil on there. It broke off a couple inches above the duck. This mod sounds promising but Im not able to fab up the mounts. David

    its a single . And yes it was just above the larger part where you loosen the set screw and do the adjustment for the cb. David

    I beg to differ. I was on the dragon/deals gap sunday. The crotch rockets were having a hard time with me and my first gen. And I seen and stopped and talked top a couple on a beautifull MKI . Told them about this group/website. David

    He had a small frame bike( didnt pay attention to make) and couldnt turn it around. No way in this world I was handing him my baby after he dropped his twice and then acted like he did. david

    David, Ive been on a lerners permit. One of the many reasons youve never seen Laura and I double up. Its been 20 years since I had a motorcycle much less an endorsement. Therefore I chose to get the permit and get used to the bike. Permit was due to run out soon and as Im now comfortable on the bike I fugured go ahead and take the roadtest. now I think I want to take the safety course and also maybey the ride like a pro class. they give one here in greensboro nc david

    best Ive gotten inside of is 16 feet and that was dragging the rear brake and playing the friction zone inthe clutch. David

    I wasnt around when it started but as I understand it St Judes is the clubs pet charity. Not sure how it got started or why but all I know is its just about the most worthy cause Ive ever had the privaledge of helping out on. Wish about 5 years ago I had known this group. I know without a doubt my life would be different. Dragonrider..........thanks for all you do as I dont know where you get the energy for everything life throws out and still be able to do this. david
