There have just been way too many injuries and deaths lately. I've reached a point where I just really don't know what you say any more. Words seem so inadequate to express our sincere condolences for you and your family but please know that they come from our hearts and that you will be remembered in our prayers.

It was sincerely our pleasure to host you for a short time. Maintenance Day is not a good time to spend with people one on one as there is just way too much going on but we enjoyed the little time that we had. I hope that this is a trip that will bring you many years of memories and smiles and that we see you both again in the near future.

Rear speaker problems
Freebird replied to Maritimer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree with you. Stand your ground. -
Too late for that and I forgot to take any pictures. Didn't even think about it. She met me at the dealership on PA today and then I saw the rear of it heading to OH.
-
Haven't even looked at the manual yet so don't know what it says about recommended intervals. I figured with 8.5 quarts though that it would be longer than usual. Still, I can't imagine letting it go 10,000 miles. I know it would probably be OK but I just don't think I could do it. I'll probably figure about 5,000 miles, depending upon what the manual says. Seeing as it is rear wheel drive, I figure it will pretty much just be a summer car anyway and I doubt that she'll put more than about 5,000 or so miles a year on it. She may surprise me though. and Mel...you are correct...when this car was new it listed for just shy of $40,000 but I can ASSURE you that I have NEVER paid that much for a car. These things can actually be picked up pretty cheap now.

Thanks. I'll keep them in mind. Luckily it has what looks like almost new tires on it. When my wife met me in PA to pick it up, I told her to not get too excited because due to the price of tires, she could only drive it once a year. There isn't much room in them that's for sure. I was surprised though that once I got in it and the seat put all the way back, I was actually quite comfortable. Yes, Dylan has already made some suggestions to Eileen about how he might be able to make use of it. Well, time will tell and I'm sure it depends upon how you drive it. It is rated 17 city and 27 highway. For some reason, Eileen always seems to get better gas mileage out of our vehicles than I do. One other thing that I noticed last night while looking at some specs online. They recommend synthetic oil, which I always use anyway. BUT...this thing takes 8.5 quarts of oil. Now any of you who know me know that I always use Mobil 1...but at over $8.00 per quart X 8.5 quarts PLUS the filter?

Well, I'll try to get her to post later but I promise you that this is her baby. She hasn't seen it yet though. I found in in Pennsylvania over the weekend. I am here on business this week and went by yesterday to check it out and made the deal. I called and told her that it was hers and she is about as excited as I have seen her in a long time. Her brother is driving her to PA today to pick it up. I talked to her a little while ago and she told me that she was so excited that she had been up since 5:00. Those of you who know Eileen KNOW that she doesn't do 5:00 for much of anything. Anyway, she is supposed to meet me at the dealership around noon. It is supposed to be all detailed and ready to go. It's far from new. It's a 2004 model with 31,000 miles. According to the CarFax, it came here recently from San Antonio. Appears to be in excellent condition. For those who are not familiar with the Crossfire. It was only made for about 4 years. It was imported by Chrysler from Germany during the time that they were owned by Daimler. It has the Mercedes engine that was in the SLK Roadster. The tranny and all underpinnings are also Mercedes. The body was made by Karmman in Germany also. One cool little feature is an automatic real spoiler that raises at speeds above 60 MPH. It can also be raised manually from a toggle switch on the console. Most of the road tests that I read were very favorable. Some complained that it was slightly lacking in power but I sure didn't feel that way when I drove it. Very responsive and the 5 speed auto tranny is awesome. Had it been for me, I would have looked for a 6 speed but most of the reviewers actually preferred the auto in this car. One negative is the price of tires. It has good tires and I don't think we will put that many miles on it but it has low profile 19" tires on the rear and 18" on the front. I read that they are about $1,000.00 per set.

Well hack Craig...you took ALL the fun out of this. How the heck did you get that so quickly? OK...PM me your address and I'll get your winnings to you.

Just a fun little contest for all of you. I picked up a new toy this weekend. Really got it for Eileen as she recently saw one and fell in love with it. I'm going to post a picture or two a day until somebody correctly guesses what it is. The first one to correctly identify the new toy wins a small VentureRider patch and a VentureRider domed decal. So...without further ado, here is the first clue.

Is this it? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37770 It's a good article. I think I need to copy it to the tech library.

This is silly talk. You KNOW I was born and raised in Texas. The truth is though, that may have been the last game that Oberlin won.

I forget to tell you Lewis but I think you already knew. XL for me.

Leaving Tomorrow & leaking Antifreeze
Freebird replied to craigatcsi's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It's strange but it's not a problem on all the bikes. My '99 has the original plugs and I have never seen any leaking.- 7 replies

Payment sent. Sent a bit extra to cover PayPal fees but then remembered to send it as "personal gift" so there shouldn't be any fees. So, consider the extra a donation.

Your opinion is appreciated and welcome but you seem to be in the minority by far. Also, with the addition of the feature that posts new ad notifications automatically to the Links to Classifieds forum, they get at least as much exposure as the did in the forums. As for your old ad being deleted? I didn't delete any ads that weren't marked sold. If it was over 60 days old, it would have been deleted automatically. That was another negative of having them in the forum. After 60 days, there were deleted and there was no email sent out before hand giving you the option of renewing it. EDIT: I misread your statement about your old ad being deleted already. You said it was in the OLD area. So I really don't know what happened to it. Maybe notifications did not go out when I had that section disabled.

I lerned al my cipherin from Jethro Clampett. -
Please don't apologize. I don't take it as complaining at all. I need to know when there is a problem. I have found out there there is a bug in this last security update from VBulletin that is causing these problems. I am trying to figure out how to correct them while waiting on them to come up with an official fix. I must made another change. Please try again and let me know what happens this time. Thanks
-
I just made a change in the programming code. Let me know if it helped.
-
Is it when you click on one of those bookmarked pages that you have the problem? If so, delete one of them and then add it back and see if that corrects the issue. If so, you will need to do them all.

hmm......ONE word....Frog Toggs..... Frog plus Toggs = .......hmmmmmm I need to find my calculator but SOMETHING just doesn't seem to be adding up. That aside....I agree. We really like our Frog Toggs. They work well and you don't cook inside them when it's warmer outside. -
Just a reminder. We HAVE gone back to the old format. No new ads can be added to the forum classifieds except for our member vendors. I will be removing all other categories tomorrow. I have sent Private Messages to everybody who had an ad in the forum classifieds reminding them to post their ads in the old classifieds. You get to them by clicking on "Classifieds" in the upper menu bar. Just a reminder. When you place an ad in the Classifieds, you do NOT need to place a link to it in the "Links to Classifieds" forum. That is done automatically by a custom mod that I have installed. Every, 10 minutes I think, the script checks for new ads and then posts a notice on the forum. At that time, the new ad will also show up on the home page as an active thread and also will show up under "New Posts". I am still working on the original glitch that caused our member vendor ads to prematurely get deleted. You will see some "test ads" posted by me until I get that issue resolved. Hopefully I will get that worked out soon. Until I am sure that it is resolved however, I will leave the "Member Vendors" classifieds in the forum as they are now.

I hope you enjoy it I too had never thought I wanted an electric but am sure enjoying the Taylor solid body that I bought a few months ago.
-
Also, check your settings and see what the detail level is set on. I think there are 3 settings, low, normal and high. If it is set on low, it won't show the smaller streets.
-
OK folks, I cannot duplicate the error on my system using Firefox or IE. You probably get tired of this suggestion but in these type cases, it usually resolves the problem. 1. Remove VentureRider from your favorites. 2. Clear your browser cache. 3. Go to VentureRider.org and then add it to your favorites again.
