It is sunny and about 45f here today but cold overnight about 15f, but its come to an end for everyone I know. I helped a friend put his scoot away for the winter yesterday, he took his last ride of the year in the afternoon when it was nice and sunny and about 45. I am looking forward to the colder weather now, at least with the cold we get the great bright sunshine none of the cloudy/snowy/rainy crap that depresses me. Brian

Hard starting after 6 weeks

I was always told that starting fluid was hard on small gas engines, did I get the wrong info? Ive always used wd40 to start with as I was told it had more lubricating stuff in it and wouldnt hurt the engine. Do the rest of you guys have any input on this? Brian -

I bought a refurb Garmin Quest last spring for around a hundred bucks when the garmin website still had them on sale for over 400 bucks. For that much difference I was willing to take a chance and i am glad I did. Garmin makes a good unit as far as I am concerned and I am happy with the fact the quest is waterproof and portable so I can move it from car to scoot. I would say go for it as long as your retailer is reliable and you trust them. Brian

Whats a St. Andrews day??????? :rotfl:Am I missing a holiday? Brian

I think ur in the banana belt for a little while yet....:stirthepot: We have had a good fall season so far until last night we got a light skiff of snow, but worse than that it dropped to -20c (around -5f )overnight ,,,nasty stuff for this time of year. Brian

5 more months of snow in WV ? Isnt climate change going the other way? Even up here I should only have 4 months tops before I am back on the road. :stirthepot:. I just pay storage insurance on mine for the off season 60 bucks gives me 5000 bucks of coverage with a 100 ded. Rather than pay for my registration and insurance for 60 bucks a month, the off season storage works for me. (but then for sure I cant ride it even if I get a nice day) Brian

You wouldnt have to find more if you wouldnt loan the ones you got out to guys from Canada who forget and take them home.... Brian

Up here in Regina Saskatchewan Canada it was about 50 today and sunny a real nice day. Sorry to hear that you southern guys are feeling our pain! :stirthepot: Actally i really enjoy winter, once it gets here, I just hate this one day warm, one day cold stuff and the cloud cover sux. Once it gets cold we get all sunny and clear and I love it. Brian

geez its still nice up here in the great (not-so)white North , it is sposed to be close around 45 or 50 and sunny tomorrow.. But that can change in a big hurry, as we have already found out this year when we had a big dump of the white stuff that has already disappeared. Brian

Depending on what youre doing you should be ok. BUT if youre using bittorrent downloading you will chew that up in a BIG hurry. Most of my elementary schools use less than 10gig a month but I have had a month where my home modem used about 90 gigs (kids were home and downloading movie torrents but they left the azureus torrent clientopen to share for a few days before I noticed). My ISP gives me a web interface to check on my stats so now I keep an eye on it when the kids are around. I would ask for access to their web interface, I think every isp has one. Brian

Jack was kind enuff to open his house for me last summer when I came down for Venture West last August. He and Nadine and their family made me feel so at home and even fixed a great dinner while I was there. After spending time with Jack last summer down in SLO I feel I have made a friend that I think very highly of and value his friendship very much. If youve got Jack as friend you have made a special friend Lady! Brian

I had a slipstream on my 85 that was too short also, I found a compnay recommended by members on this website called Clearview that makes a larger than stock windsheild for the 1st gens. Actually I think it can be had in a few different configurations with and without vents, larger smaller wider, etc. I had an issue with my clearview's vent being installed slightly crooked and I placed a call and they took care of the issue immediately! Looks good doesnt it? Here is a copy from the website about the sound system. Check it out Advancing the riding comforts to the next level are the instruments and built-in radio on the Voyager’s classic automotive style console. The image is reinforced by the classic font used on the large round dials of the instrumentation and the radio that’s reminiscent of 8-track players from the 1960s. Mixed in with the retro analog dials is a multi-function LCD display in the center of the instrument console. It’s controlled by switches on the right handle and features a gear position indicator, clock, odometer, dual trip meters, remaining range and average fuel consumption. The intercom headset-compatible, 40W, twin-speaker audio system features a three-band (FM/AM/WX) radio that is also compatible with an iPod, a XM radio tuner or a CB radio unit. The audio system (and iPod) can be operated by an integrated controller on the left handlebar. Besides volume, the rider can adjust the bass, treble and balance levels of the system. The Voyager also features a water-cooled alternator with rare-earth magnets that produces an impressive 48.5 amps of electrical output; enough to power add-on navigation systems and other electrical accessories that enrich modern touring. The Voyager has a convenient cigarette lighter-style power port on the dash and two power outlets under the seat – ideal for plugging in electrically heated vests. Brian
