Have 83 VR handlebar options?
friesman replied to OldBull's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I dont really like the way the handlebars on my 85 look, but I sure liked them a lot better once I found out that I could adjust them in about 6 different directions and heights. Mine are very comfortable now, i never get the pain across the shoulders thing happening. So I guess my advice is replace them if you dont like the look, but if youre looking for more comfort, save your money, and get out the toolkit. Brian -
1st gen (83-86) flasher circuitry

Has anyone tried adding an LED or 2 to the inside of the tailight lens beside the OEM bulb to add to the brightness? The original should make the computer and wiring work ok and the LEDs shouldnt draw enough to make a difference. Brian -
I use the HJC fs10 full face with the flip down inside visor and love it, especially for the price. It gives me clear vision , has never fogged on me, But i do pop the front when stopped occasionally. here is the link from NewEnough . http://www.newenough.com/helmets_eyewear/closed_face/hjc/fs_10_matte_motorcycle_helmet.htmlIt is great not having to carry sunglasses along and I should add that I wear my glasses while wearing the helmet and the sunvisor doesnt touch my glasses at all, some times i will ride with the shield open and the visor down and it works fine too. Heres a review http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/riders-gear/370831-helmet-review-hjc-fs-10-a.html Brian

One of the guys at work just bought this one and likes it a lot. he was looking at the Asus but couldnt justify the price difference for his use. about 150 difference. Tigerdirect has a few different kinds of netbooks but he went with the Acer, he does some consulting and used quite alot of Acer stuff and he seems to think its ok for consumer use. These netbooks are a perfect size for travelling on the scoot about 1/2 the size but most of the power that a full size laptop has. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4185139&Sku=A180-8008 Brian

heheh the flat spots on the tires on the Ford arent permanent, theyre only there until the temps warm up.............(looks like that might be July this coming year tho:rotfl:) As far as the snotsicle thing goes its not a big deal, the kids need snacks too, :rotfl: BUT I havnt shovelled yet this year.......:stirthepot: Brian

Seeing as how you guys on the left coast of Canada always like to rub it in when we get a little cold spell on the prairies, I just cant be silent on the small amount of snow we have here as usual. We have about 3 inches on the ground with a few drifts higher than that. I dont know why you guys think cold is so bad..., when its cold it doesnt snow and the sun comes out.. PLUS you dont have to shovel the cold.....:innocent:, you can dress for the cold, you cant dress for shovelling:innocent: Brian

I have decided that I just cant make it to the Intl Rally in August so I was gonna cancel my room at the Hub. I dont know if they will let us transfer reservations from my name to anyone elses but if anyone wants a triple room at the Hub maybe give them a call to find out if its possible. Its sposed to have a fridge and 3 beds. Please let me know if youre interested so when I call to cancel I can give them your name, Then you can call them to finalize things. I will take the first name that lets me know if its possible to transfer the reservation. I would love to go, but the summer is just not long enough to fit everything in. SO you guys better take lots of pics so I dont miss anything..... Brian

On the upside, if I get down there with my bike again, there will be a trailer around to get my bike home with ,,,,lol! Brian All kidding aside,,,,that is a SUPER deal. good for you.

I would hafta say spend 150 bucks or so and get a Garmin GPS as it is so much easier than pulling over every once in a while to try and look at a map. Especially when going through cities it will route you so you dont have to look away from the road, just listen for the directions through your sound system. You dont necessarily need to spend a lot of money to get a basic GPS that will get you where you want to go with sound but if you want extras like bluetooth and mp3 player they cost extra big time. I just copied both maps to my hardrive and then opened microsoft paint program then copied and pasted each of the maps into it. Then youll have to get everything sized and placed properly, when youre satisfied with how it looks, save it ,remembering where you saved it to. then when you go to upload on the VR site just select your new file youve just created. Hey Rick there is an upside to you guys having some snow this winter and that is all that shovelling will have you in great shape to get some serious riding done when it melts. That cardio workout has gotta make it easier to sit on that bike for hours at a time doesnt it? You see thats another reason I dont mind the cold, when it gets below minus 30 its too cold to snow as the air cant hold any humidity and the weather is usually bright and sunny. So as much as I ***** about the cold I still prefer it to shovelling. We only have about 3 inches on ground. Brian:stirthepot:

Dont trust those shelters in the snow at all. A friend of mine bought his from Costco to store his boat in out at Falcon Lake. It collapsed in the snow too wrecking his windshield and just making a huge mess of ripped fabric and bent metal. Brian

You guys have a safe trip and a wonderful Christmas!! Brian

I would take a set also, if anyone is so inclined into making stuff like that. Brian

If you figure out a way to copy your existing set on BLack Beauty to a cardboard template I wonder if you could send me a copy of the edges. I know a guy that does metal work that might make them for me depending on how difficult it is. Then I just gotta find a good chromer as there isnt any in town any more. Brian

I was listening to the national Weather on CBC radio this morning and heard a strange statement or two. The first was that my city Of Regina SK. Canada was colder this morning than the temp at the north pole. Something is really messed up with a weather pattern when I am in a minus 33c deepfreeze and the north pole is only minus 24c. The other fact that surprised me that it looks like this year will be the first year since 1971 that Canadians from east coast to west coast will be having a snow on-the-ground White Christmas. I figured that Canada was snowy around Christmas a LOT more often than that. CMON GLOBAL WARMING!!!!! Brian

I am sure it would look great and be unique. Who cares if some so called purist doesnt like it. All that matters is that you like it. Brian

I am starting to think EVERY 85 made was brown. My trunk and bags are out getting painted as the clearcoat is peeling and I dont like the silverygold "accent stripe" in the bags. Still going to be brown however as I just cant justify painting the rest when the paint is perfect on all the rest of the plastic. Brian PS I dont call mine "ugly" ....she's temperamental and it might tick her off even more and lately I dont want her any madder at me......:mo money: Brian
