friesman replied to cimack77's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not many guys have attempted to shorten the G1 Ventures. What did you do, and how did it affect handling etc? and how much did you gain on the seat height? I have heard of a couple of guys taking the stand to a fabricators and have them cut an inch off (sounds so wrong...) ....and reweld Brian -
Geez you guys shoulda told KBAy how to fix that 2 years ago when he posted this...lol:stickpoke::rotfl: Brian

I got an email today from Dynatek confirming that they no longer stock or make that item. BUt they will do a one time run if we want to do a group buy, the kicker is that they want an oder of 200 but no mention of pricing yet. Personally I think 200 is way too big an order to consider it.But....i have been wrong before.....just once.......mabbe twice....(just dont ask my exwives......) Brian -
Hi I have a few patches left over from last years Kruisn the Kootenays in Nelson BC Canada, and would send you one if you let me know what you address is. Brian

'nother dumb question
friesman replied to Blue Giant's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ive never done that with a trickle charger, but Ive always been super careful which lead went where. Also, what would be the point of the quick disconnect leads that the battery tender type of trickle charger has if you were supposed to disconnect. Also, most of the new trickle chargers have polarity checks, warnings and shutoffs built in so youre not supposed to hurt yourself or the scoot. I would say youre fine but do a visual double check before you actually make contact with a terminal. brian- 2 replies

Thats great news, may all the rest of the rehab go well!!! Brian

that sounds like a good idea! Let me know how things are going with this idea,. What are your thoughts to possibly tying this together in some way with Kruisn the Kootenays as Nelson BC is only an hours ride north of the Idaho border, and while Salmon is still a good ride south, perhaps we could make it a tour for those that want with the events a few days apart or something like that. If I can help out some way please let me know and Ill try to lend a hand. Brian

83-85 saddlebag liners
friesman replied to chocking's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well Jack I didnt mind unlocking the bags and carrying them around when the finish on the bags was 25 years old, but after painting them last winter, I want to leave them on the bike where they wont get scuffed or scratched, or (...hopefully) dropped. Brian -
I noticed that unit on sale at wingstuff for 99 bucks if youre interested. BUT, read the reviews on the bottom of the page before you buy, most isnt very complimentary. http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/40_Home_Monthly_Specials/29640_J_M_GL1800_Accessory_Digital_Music_Player_Changer/?goto=%2Findex.php Brian

I would love some too, but cant find any around anywhere I have the added issue that the 85 has the large mkII trunk up top but the side luggage is like the 83-84. Brian -
I picked up a Schumacher Battery minder (up to 2amp cycler/ desulfater) today at Princess Auto as it seems to have all the features of the Batter tender plus. It was less cheaper than the Battery tender so I bought it. Does anyone have one of these and if so, what are your thoughts on it. Thanks Brian

Hi Gary When i go to the website it appears the D3K7-7 has been delisted. It lists others but not that one. (of course, I could be blind...) brian -
Hey Rick One of those fancy emoticons youve downloaded is probably causing the issues. Or something similar to that. It doesnt set off any errors for me but I had an issue a while back on another site that dumped innocuous emoticons into my sysmtem causing erros to come up. I cleared mine up by updating the A/V software and not downloading any more cool looking icons. Brian Heres what safe google has to say about it http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=img121.imagehacks.info

Ah thats childs play, last week we had colorado send us a storm that rustled up winds of 50-60mph and we now have drifts as high as 7 feet. The last time i checked it was headed southeast toward minnesota. Brian:snow2:

In your opinion, what are the top five states to motorcycle in?
friesman replied to Sunrayman's topic in Watering Hole
CaliforniaI Central coastal highways is gorgeous area. Lake Tahoe + Carson City NV area too Montana-going to sun hiway, all around Kalspell, yellowstone area, big sky country. Idaho around Sandpoint, Moscow, Bonners Ferry, sun Valley are all great areas Alberta-Through Banff, Jasper and into the eastern Kootenays is gorgeous! BC -Around Nelson BC only an hour north of the US border are great roads and almost no traffic- Here are some pics from last years Kootenays Rally in Nelson.. http://picasaweb.google.com/friesman1/KruisnTheKootenays2009 Brian -
I think we are just being neighbourly and sending the crappy weather back to you all. We had a nasty blizzard last weekend in Western Canada and it came up from Colorado across Montana with 50 mph winds and up to 30 inches of snow. We have 7 foot high drifts in a few places and the trans canada hiway and most other highways were closed for a day and a half. So, i really dont feel too badly about sharing with our friendly neighbours to the south, they should put the blame on those guys in Colorado, not us Canadians this time, lol! Brian

[GBRTK9] Fw: Virus coming!!
friesman replied to MidlifeVenture's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
I work in a school division with about equal numbers of MAcs and pc's (about 2500 of each). We use both and as far as I am concerned each are good in their own way and have their own skillsets and strong points. We run antivirus on macs, PC.s and a few Linux machines and actually have found few viruses on any type of machine, but Linux was the least affected, PCs the most. I have seen viruses wipe out a harddrives info on Macs and PC's not running an antivirus program, but never on a mac running a A/V program. Bottom line is if youre not running a current regularly A/V program you may not get a virus if youre running MAC or PC but youre taking chances especially if you surf the net, as most new viruses seem to be coming in from hijacked or rogue webpages when you visit them. I dont know why the cult of mac users seem to want to think they have such a superior system to the PC's when the stats we have at work really dont bear that out. We have found that the 800 Ibook laptops purchased 2 years ago needed twice as many repairs as the 900 HP laptops purchased about the same time. The ibooks were a bit more stable in the OS than Xp or Vista on the HP's, but even those software issues werent more than a small percentage difference over that time. The pricing on both laptop units were within 50 bucks of being the same price. I just dont understand of some mac users that like to needle PC users when their beloved system isnt as good as they beleive, IMHO Brian -
My eye doctor will check any glasses you bring to him for 20 bucks, so it might be something you could do. I am thinking your lenses are messed up, you shouldnt be seeing changes and warping as you go from side to side. (although with a smaller lense you mat see the edge distortion a bit). Take em and get them checked at someone other than your dispensery. Brian

After my cataract sugery I have great distance vision, and the first set of progresssives after the op drove me crazy. My eye doc suggested moving the start of the progressive down so it wouldnt be in my line of vision. It was a huge improvement for me, its not for everyone as I have to tilt my head farther to read, but during my day to day activities I like my lenses now!!! Brian
