I know it must be here somewhere but I cant find it! Can someone please tell me when the St Jude ride is for this year? I know there was some question about sept 12 but I never have heard if there was another date set.

Looks just like my Piggy without the rear bumper and the cooler rack!

I went last year and probably the very best thing I saw was the changing of the gaurd ceremony at Arlington, followed by the vietnam memorial, the national cathedral, what part I saw of the Smithsonian, Mt Vernon. All of which are easily accessible by subway, trust me the traffic is terrible in the city and I surely wouldnt try to pull an rv through there. Once you get there you will see many many advertisements for attractions throughout the area and believe it or not the best ones are free!

I just had new Avons put on my bike, the tire dealer I always use for vehicles also has one guy who does motorcycles. I took him my internet purchased tires and the bike and two hours later it was ready for pickup, total cost 90.00 bucks!

Yeah I really want to break a thousand too, I know one thing, it will have to be all interstate for me cause I really pushed it to make tha trip in 11 hours, not really the speed but just not stopping to rest or anything except just long enough to fill up the tank. It was all interstate except for about 60 miles. My wife and her siblings decided on friday night that they would really like to have fresh seafood this weekend and I had been trying to come up with somewhere to ride on sat sooooooo I was thinking you know I bet if I took the cargo box off that piggybacker trailer I could get a couple of coolers strapped on there. Worked like a charm! If you take off the fenders too, you can get 2 - 120 qt coolers on there just right

Was just wondering who has ridden the most miles in one day. I did a little over 700 miles yesterday which is not alot compared to some but it was the farthest I have been in a day. Actually it was 11 hours but I only stopped for gas, to load the trailer with oysters and about 10 minutes to shove a burger down my neck. I was trying to beat the rain and it worked this time!

you can still get those faceplates with the clear plastic flip up lens, just go to a boat supplier. I put one on my boat last year but I dont remember the name of the company, it was one of them that send you catologues for years after you buy one thing though.

well I have noticed that I seem to spend a lot of time around the grill, but then again I have never met a ribeye I didnt like!!! In all honesty about two weeks after I stopped, I was driving down the street in subdivision at work one day and I smelled bacon cooking!! It really is amazing how much better things smell and taste. I will have to work on one thing at a time though.

Believe it or not it seems that my wife and I have both stopped smoking. It has been 5 weeks so far and we are both doing great. I just put them down and havent touched one since, she started out with the patches and is almost off of them. It amazes me that I have spent so much money over the years on this. We decided to put back the money that we would have spent on smokes and do something with it so the first thing we did was buy a new set of tires for the bike. I have been wanting a set of avons so we decided to go ahead and get them before our trip to gatlinburg next month. We stopped smoking with two other couples who are our best friends, one couple is hanging in there with us and the other couple only made it a couple of hours. now my problem is that the dang dryer seems to be shrinking all my clothes again! :big-grin-emoticon:l

need clutch help

ok, It looks like the clutch problem is solved for now, It started slipping again after the bike cooled down overnight so I decided to go back to the regular old motor oil instead of the synthetic stuff. I changed it cold so that i could test it and when I first started out it really slipped if I tried to accelerate very hard at all, then after less than two miles it completely stopped slipping. This was yesterday and I have been riding about thirty miles today with no problems. I guess I will stick to the dino oil in the bike. -

guys I know this is gonna sound whacko but I went out for a quick ride yesterday with my wife onboard also, when I left home the clutch was slipping so I just eased around on it, went about 5 miles and stopped at a tire dealer for a few minutes and when we started back home I could not make the thing slip at all. I mean I really romped on it several times and never was able to make it slip at all. Now I really dont know how that could be but it is. -

Sorry it took me so long to report back, Here is what is going on so far, the dealer said he had never seen this problem after switching to syn oil but the bike is still under warranty so he suggested that I ride it for about a hundred miles and if the problem is still there bring it in for repairs. The only problem I have with this is that if the clutch is wearing out and stuff is getting in the engine oil it is probably doing even more damage, plus I dont really think that this problem is going to heal itself. I dont have the old oil containers since the trash was taken out the day after i changed the oil and I cant even find my reciept from the purchase. Im sure they can tell me which oil it was when I get back to them. I will try to keep info coming when we decide which way to go with this. -

hey Boomer, I bought the oil at the dealer and I think it was called yamalube but I am not sure I know they offered two different brands. I will look in the shop tonight to see if the bottles are still there. the dealer is closed here on mondays so I will have to wait to talk to them tomorrow. -
I dont know if this is in the correct place but I am having a problem with the clutch slipping on my 08 rsv. This problem only started after i changed the oil last week, went to the synthetic oil that the dealer recommended. I noticed it on the first ride after the change, it seems to only happen in 4th or 5th gear and is not real bad but it is bad enough that I can feel it. Are there any adjustments that can be made or does it need to just go back to the dealer for repairs? Thanks for any help. MURPH

Well I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later and it did. Was leaving for a quick trip to the store and noticed that my trunk was not closed, so being the bright person that I am I stopped in the driveway and instead of getting off the bike to close it, I decided to turn around and just close it without putting the stand down. Needless to say my left foot slipped just a little and by the time I could turn back around she was going down and was too far over for me to stop. The engine guard did its job and nothing was hurt except for pride, just so happens the nextdoor neighbor and his son were outside and saw the whole thing. Hopefully it wont happen again for awhile. I have been looking for a set of OEM exhaust to put back on my bike and I only live a hundred miles or so from you. Would probably want to pick them up if thats ok. My # is 256-214-0753 -
After taking a trip or two with my freshly gutted stock pipes I find that the sound is really annoying to both my wife and I. If anyone has a set of stock mufflers that they want to sell or trade for a set of gutted ones please contact me.

I found that the rsv handled very well, even riding two up didnt seem to really need anything, of course I wasnt scraping the pegs or anything but it felt as though I could have with no problem. Overall I have always been very impressed with this bike whether riding on the tight twisties or running the interstates and only having to stop when I need gas. One thing I am going to change though is the exhaust, a couple of weeks ago I gutted the stock pipes and although I really like the sound when I am wearing my short helmet, when I changed to the full faced one it is a whole different sound, very very annoying!!! Dont know yet whether to go back stock or maybe some slip ons but something has to change

went to the smokies last weekend and got to finally see what all the fuss is about. We went out and rode the dragon & skyway loop and I must say that it will be an annual trip for us from now on, I honestly felt a little let down at deals gap after wanting to see it for several years it just wasnt the way I thought it would be. Still a very fun ride but it just didnt compare to the Cherohalla skyway, man that was really awesome!! Best views in the mountains very smooth road and long sweeping turns. My wife finally decided to go with me on the ride and she really enjoyed it, I never got pinched, called names, yelled at or threatened with bodily harm the whole day! Was a little cool on the way home on monday but not too bad. Now she wants to go down to the coast this weekend and pick up some fresh seafood, Oh well if I must I must!
