  1. My wife and I are leaving the monday after the St Jude event to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway from end to end, 421 is on the list for us as well as at least a dozen other stretches. We have a couple weeks to ride and explore this year and as long as the weather is ok we will see how many of the suggested roads we can hit.
  2. Looks like we will have 6 coming from N. Alabama this year! Look forward to seeing everyone!
  3. Looks like we have 8 coming from north Alabama. See you all there!
  4. Lewis, I have 4 confirmed and possibly 2 others coming. I haven't done as well this year getting donations but we still have a little time to work!
  5. Made it home from the annual Texas Trike Reunion in the hill country. Didn't do the iron butt ride home this year due to leaving a day early to beat some of the bad weather, we still hit rain around Meridian Miss. and rode in it the last 200 or so miles. Did I mention that riding in the rain really sucks? Had a great time and rode the 3 Sisters and who knows how many other roads in the area, Willow City Loop was cool, we didn't see many blue bonnets at all but will try again next year!
  6. We will be at the Super 8, lots of good times there after dark at the picnic tables between the buildings! Will look you up for sure! Last year I think I was the only one on two wheels but had an absolute blast!
  7. Gonna be out there 4/22 to 4/26 again for the Texas Trike Reunion, I don't have a trike but my buddy does. We did this trip last year and had a blast! Looking forward to it!
  8. Read the book last summer and loved it! Just got back from seeing the movie and it is awesome! There are a lot of Marcus Luttrell videos on youtube, Having never been in the military I had no idea what those guys go through to become a seal, to say the least it is awe inspiring!
  9. Not sure who really started this mess about shirt sizes but so far it has cost me about two hundred in casino money and a dozen roses! Crap! now she wants to go shopping for a new CAR! Whichever one of you yahoos did it is on the list now!
  10. Ha ha! Probably not a good idea but still would like to try it! Going to be in the area next month and am thinking of giving it a try. I really don't like the dragon that much but have been wanting to do this for a while now. I am sure it would be a slow ride!
  11. Anyone here ever ridden the dragon at night? Was wondering if there is a lot of traffic after dark.
  12. Hey Lewis, Dee and I will be there again this year, looks like there are at least two other couples coming along.
  13. 441 is back open now but I did meet two cars on 32 this trip, that is the same amount that I saw in my 1st 8 or 10 trips there combined! I didn't ride 441, just saw all the signs saying that it is open.
  14. Go north out of Gatlinburg on 321, about 18 miles 321 will dead end into hwy 32, turn right and in about two miles you will be blowing the horn at your own taillights! It only lasts for about 8 or 9 miles then there is about a mile of gravel road down to Walnut Bottoms, N.C. if you turn left at the bridge it's only a mile or two back to I-40.
  15. I will certainly do that! I have found that the best riding is not always the most popular roads. I can get out and wander around and stumble upon some the greatest rides ever just by accident! The Little River Road between Gatlinburg and Cades Cove early in the morning before all the traffic lines up is about as good as you will find anywhere! Hwy 32 between 321 and I-40 is about as intense as any and you don't have to deal with all the traffic! And the Alamo is probably the best ribeye in the land! If there are any better I am looking forward to finding them!
  16. Just got back from a trip to East Tennessee, rode through Cades Cove, Foothills Parkway, Deals Gap, Hellbender 28, about twenty miles of unpaved park roads and finished up with a sprint through hwy 32 all in one day! Love that whole area! Only reason to ride deals gap for me is because it was the shortest route to some other roads that I wanted to get to. Road conditions in that whole part of the country are always great!
  17. 1007 miles in 18 hours Kerrville, Texas to Hartselle, Alabama with a detour in Louisiana!
  18. Been to two of them, personally i'd rather have a good cheeseburger! Almost all the naked ones REALLY needed to stay clothed!
  19. Lewis, you would have enjoyed this one too. I went with a friend of mine to the Texas Trike Reunion. It's a bunch of folks from the GL1800 riders group that do this every year. Had some really good riding and met some really nice folks!
  20. Just got home from my trip to Texas, the Twisted Sisters is a good ride. Personally I like the riding in the East Tennessee area better but West Texas certainly has its good points! Got in a total of a little over 2600 miles on this trip including an Iron Butt 1,007 mile ride home in 18 hours! That is my longest one day ride so far but I have done several 700+ mile rides, as usual the Venture performed flawlessly and I am still in awe of this bike! Mine is a 2008 with 40,000 miles and I just don't believe that anything else can compare to the Venture when it comes to comfort.
  21. Got in about 700 miles yesterday, looks like it's gonna be a wet 250 today! Sittin in a hotel room in Palestine, Tx. watching it rain. Gonna give it a little while longer and see if it passes through before we head out.
  22. Oh by the way Lewis, you might need to get your camera checked. In every picture you took of me that camera makes me look fat!
  23. We made it home safe! We got a little wet yesterday when we left St. Judes but not too bad. Today was a chilly ride home but still was a lot of fun! Thanks Lewis for all your work and for your dedication to this cause. This was my 5th year to make this ride and I hope to have many more.
