  1. Attention all VR Members: As you know, we recently took our donation to St. Jude's and toured the hospital. While on the tour, we noticed the "walkway" had several engraved bricks. We asked our tour guide about them and she let us know that for a certain donation, you could have a "brick" engraved. As we toured the hospital..we noticed there were walls inside with engraved plaques. Again..for a certain donation, you can have your name on a plaque on the wall. As we kept walking..we started thinking...wouldn't it be really neat to at least have a brick out there with "VENTURERIDER.ORG, For the Children" on it? So with Freebird's permission and Dragonrider's blessing...we are going to change up our St. Jude's Fundraising a little bit this year... With your help, we can raise enough money FOR AT LEAST ONE BRICK!! And who knows? If we get enough $$$ maybe, just MAYBE, we could get a plaque. The rates are as follows per the website: I went on the St. Jude's website and this is what I found: 1. Small brick: $1000 2. Lg Brick: $1500 On the TRIBUTE WALL: 1. Small Plaque: $2500-4999 2. Lg Plaque: $5000 SUPPORTER'S WALL: $10,000. If we could get just ONE DOLLAR ($!) from every member..we could do it! This is such a worthy cause. Over the years we have donated alot of money, but didn't know we could ask for a brick or plaque...This is YOUR chance to give just a little bit and yet..do SO MUCH! so what do you think? All you have to do is send your $$ to Dragonrider (Lewis Cramer) by paypal @ partin_guy@yahoo.com or by mail. Will have to add the address on a later post. Come on folks! We can do this! How about it? Are you with me? Thanks Patti and Don :fingers-crossed-emo
  2. http://www.wwlp.com/dpp/news/local/hampden/downtown-intersection-blocked-off-due-to-apparent-gas-leak Never liked gas at all, they had that one in Indy in the last week or so. Today they had blast that was heard and felt 25 miles away, in our downtown area. Mostly older brick buildings, 2 wiped out, dozen or more that they think will have to come down. Nobody killed but 2 dozen hurt. Never will like gas, I guess.
  3. I can get Avon Venoms for about $160 front and back on amazon. Wondering if there is a brick and mortar store that will match these prices? I'm in Dallas.
  4. After reading the post about snowing and money I was reminded of an incident way back in the 70's at Kennedy Airport. I used to pick up freight from various air cargo buildings at Kennedy. Two of my most frequent stops were shared in the same hangar. Air lift International and Al Italia Airways. Now, we were supposed to walk around the front of each hangar area to access one from the other but there was a doorway in a small vestibule that was covered in a thick layer of dust and the door was propped open with this dust covered brick. We poor slobs who made $2.00 an hour driving the "big rigs" back then, passed thru this doorway for years. One day the area was closed off, the dust all cleaned up and the door closed. We had to follow the rules and go around to the front from now on. What prompted this change was someone decided to clean up the area and seal off the door. Well, remember that brick? It turned out to be a full sized gold bar, which was lost from a shipment several years before. One of the dock people had to pass through the door and used a gold bar to temporarily prop it open. Somehow the bar was forgotten about and there was an investigation about the theft of a gold bar from the shipment later on. Literally hundreds passed right by that "brick" over time. God, I wish I had that "brick" now....... Yep, true story......:bawling:
