With all the white stuff flying around here, I thought I would take this opprotunity to save some of my LP albums I collected in the 60s and 70s to my computer. These records have been in storage for 30 years. This is good stuff. Been looking forward to this for quite some time now because I have songs by artists you don't ever hear any more. Drug out my old player, found some adapters and the software, ready to begin..... For some strange reason none of those songs sound quite as good as I remember them sounding. And I realized why there are a few artists you never hear any more. Really disapointing. A few of the songs brought back great memories, but the rest.......

Who threw a rod on a second gen engine. June 2004, I remember it well! Riding a 1999 RSV with 40K miles, at around 60 MPH, 5th gear, 2 up, pulling trailer, downhill etc. Without warning the rear wheel locked up. Man what a ride!!! End result...rod had broken just below the piston, rod fell forward and pushed the ballance shaft out the front and through the case. Yammy never gave me a hard time about it, but I don't know what the dealer said to them. Momma gave me new cases, rods pistons, cylinder, balance shaft, etc, Basically everything forward of the crank except new heads. Those checked out good. I was concerned about not getting a complete new engine due to the shock placed on the entire drive line, but 100K mile later and still going strong, I'm getting over it. Yammaha didn't ask for maintenance records or any other documantation from me. Be patient though, it took them almost 8 weeks to gather all the parts and get it back to me in one piece.

Senior in high school. Dumb as the rest of my friends. Couldn't wait to get out of school and get married and get that itch scratched regular. Never will regret it, had 7 good years and 2 more that were not so good before we called it quits. Got me three great kids from the deal and even ended up being friends with the X. Can't ask for more than that.

The American Society for the Blind has been pushing for this for years. Seeing impared folks are always getting ripped off for making change.

Have an 08 with 20K. No problems here.

You ain't THAT young!!!!! Really, I think you two can do 300 a day without problems. Just don't set a firm "goal" thinking you have to make a certain amount. I have had days where we didn't go more than 50-75 miles before stoping again. There's always tomorrow.

True story: The weather here has been better than some places, but still too cold in the mornings to ride the hour + to work for me. The forecast for this morning was for 31 degrees with a high of 62. No kidding, I actually woke up at 3:00 AM thinking "I can do 31 degrees" then went back to sleep. At 6:00 when I got up I said "what was I thinking!" So cage to work again. Time passes, take a break at 2:30 and walk outside. 64 degrees, no wind, not a cloud in the sky. Go back inside and make some lame excuse to the boss, and out the door to home I go to get the bike. I can probably get in a good three hours road time. Kewel. All the way driving home I'm thinking "Which way this time?" West, naw nothing but city that way. South? nope, go that way a lot. East? possibly, go that way a lot too. North? been a while, roads not bad, north it is!!! Get a half mile from the house and the COUNTY HAS GOT THE ROAD CLOSED UNTIL AROUND 5:30PM. Only other way is on a BAD gravel road with a few sand pits thrown in for good measure. I don't usually use bad language, but sometimes you have to express your feelings or explode. Come on summer.

And I'll say it again... no relation what-so-ever!

Just now saw this thread. A couple years ago I had exactly this problem on my 99. Long story short, ended up being the starter relay. When I finally found it, my relay/holder assy was completely encrusted in corrosion. The relay holder block is also the primary power distribution point for the rest of the bike. I could read voltage in all the right places, but as soon as ANY load was applied, the voltage would go to 0. Remove the left side cover, then follow the + lead from the battery to just below the battery box. I could just barely see it through the side. I got a quarter that says you will find yours has corrosion or has a loose connection at the terminal where the battery lead connects. I had to remove the battery and box to get enough room to get it cleaned up. You may be luckier than me.

I would make it a rough as possible for the look you are going for. I've seen some of the old horse drawn wagons and they didn't have neat square cut corners or sanded finishes. Had lots of gaps in the wood etc. Knew a guy once who made replica "antique" furniture. After it was assembled, he would beat it with a short length of chain, just hard enough to dent the wood but not hard enough to break the fibers. Touch it all up with a hammer. Think about where the natural wear areas are and what would get dammaged with 100 years of use. Gave the piece a very antique, well used look.

A little different than I invisioned. I thought you had some old and crappy wood you were going to use. Looks new in the pics. No matter, after 200K miles it will be weathered real good.

Nope! No relation what so ever. You're on your own with that one Ace.

From the pictures it's not so bad...my shop always looks like that!! :rotf: I don't have the holes in the wall though.

Had a great time this weekend working on the bike and just setting around visiting. Looking forward to seeing how the trailer comes together. From your plans, it's going to be unique for sure. The trip home was a booger-bear with the wind through Kansas, then when we got to the Oklahoma border there was a traffic back-up at the toll gate of about 4 miles. Got home at 8:30 last night. But the trip was well worth it.

I suffered with bad teeth for 20 years, get one thing fixed just in time to work on the next. Finally took the plunge and have not regretted it for one minute.

That is a great start on your project. One trailer I saw that always stuck in my mind was a log cabin built out of dowell rods. The roof was hinged to get to the interior. Didn't look real efficient but sure was different.

There have been lots of discussions on the best oil to use, and every one has an opinion, but very few has said why they think their choice is better than anothers. Just what do you look for in your oil? Is your choice based on independent research reports, personal experience, smoother shifting, price or (like me) just what my daddy used? With so many opinions on oil brands, surely there are good reasons for making those choices.

I'm thinking the discussions related to parts for sale should be a part of the add, just like they are on e-bay. When the item is sold or the add expires, the discussion goes away too because it is no longer relevant. If you can include new posts to the classified section into the "new posts" notification, there would be no need to post into the Watering Hole at all. I just reread what I wrote, and don't understand what I just said.

If Rick is going to be lowering your seat, he's going to have the cover off and I bet it wouldn't be a problem to replace the bolt at that time. Give him a shout and ask. Can't hurt.

Got my pencil and marking this one down. A certain wing wants to visit home.

Not too far from the border. Depending on the weather. Only about a thousand miles as the crow flies. I am located about 30 miles east of Oklahoma City.
