  1. I'm sure. Actually borrowed an 1 3/4 to see if I could make it work. Floped around in my exhaust like a ........hmmm just drew a blank. Oh well it was too small. Found a two inch on line ....$8.00 Can.t beat that.
  2. (Ring) Them: Hello, @#$#$% Honda, how may I direct your call? Me: Parts department please. Them: Parts. Me: Yes, I’m traveling through and lost an exhaust baffle. I was hoping you had a two inch exhaust baffle in stock. Them: What kind of bike do you have? Me: It’s a 2001 Honda, 1100 Shadow. But it has after-market Cobra exhaust system on it. Them: No. The 1100 Shadow has an inch and three quarters exhaust. That is the size baffle you need. Me: Sorry, but I measured my pipe and it is definitely two inch. It was installed by the previous owner. Them: A two inch exhaust won’t fit on a Shadow! Me: Don’t know what to tell you, but that is what I have. Do you have a two inch baffle in stock? Them: What model number Cobra pipes do you have? Me: (exasperated) I don’t know, they were installed by the previous owner. The baffle doesn’t have to be from Cobra, any two inch baffle will work for me. Them: I have to have the model number to look it up. Me: Do you have ANY baffles in stock? Them: No, we don’t carry exhaust parts in stock, but we can order them and have them for you in about a week. Me: Do you remember I said I was traveling and just passing through? Them: But if you really need it…. Me: Never mind (click) (Ring) Them: Hello, @#$%#@ Harley Davison, how may I direct your call? Me: Parts department please. Them: Parts. Me: Yes, I’m traveling through town and have lost one of my exhaust baffles. Do you happen to have a two inch exhaust baffle in stock? Them: What kind of bike do you have? Me: I have two inch, after market, Cobra pipes. But any brand of baffle will work for me. It doesn’t have to be Cobra. Them: Let’s see here, I show I have a couple baffles in stock, but they are not Cobras. Me: That’s great!! I don’t care about the brand. They are two inch, right? Them: Well… these are inch and three quarters. That is a close as I can get. Me: That’s good but I need two inch. Them: What kind of bike is this going on? Me: Well….it’s a 2001 Honda Shadow, but it has the two inch Cobra exhaust installed. Them: We don’t sell Honda parts. You better call them. You want their number? Me: Never mind (click).
  3. Edith and I are home safe too. I had a great time meeting you all. Having three of my four kids, and their spouses there also made it even better.
  4. Anyone who likes Bluegrass needs to plan a trip to Mountain View, Arkansas. During the summer there is something going on every night. Several shows around the area, plus free music on the courthouse lawn. As a bonus, the riding in the area is good also. Check it out.
  5. :doh:You think you feel stupid!!! I got caught in that scam twice last week and once again this morning.
  6. I'll take second dibs on the tire if you don't want it.
  7. Hey Mike, You didn't say when in june you are planning to be there. Check out the calendar. There is going to be a group of VR riders meeting in Eureka Springs the 23-25. Some of the best riding around that area. You are welcome to join us.
  8. I guess all these guys are going to shame me into offering a place to stay too. You know where I live. Love ya.
  9. I didn't realize the trial membership was that long. My memory is about as long as some of my other parts. I really like Dave's suggestion to leave it like it is and add the number of days remaining to the email notification. We can deal with anything you decide.
  10. I was not that concerned that I was shut off because, as was said, renewal is a snap and there never was a question whether to renew or not. I was just supprised at how quick it happened. I also wanted you to know that the red banner at the top said I had 1123 days to renew and the Privledges box at the bottom still showed that I had full privledges when in fact I did not. Since I started this I should probably post my preference for the time delay. I would say set the same as a "trial membership".
  11. I received my renewal notice email on the 14th of this month (six days ago). Been on the run for the last few days and haven't had a chance to renew or return to the site. So tonight I tried to check in and had a red banner across the top saying that my trial membership would expire in 1123 days. Also noticed that my welcome box said my Private Message box was full. Even though that little box at the bottom of the page said I could reply, edit and post, when I tried to post something I got the screen that I didn't have the proper permissions to perform this action. OK I get the hint...Logged out and sent in my dues. Now all is right with the world. My only thought is "less than Six Days and you're shut off? And for a returning 4 year membership? Geese, new members get more slack than that.
  12. I posted a CL link to this trailer in Colorado Springs, but thought I would put the pics here too. I've never seen a trailer like this before. If I were closer I'd go look just to see it in action.
  13. I'm number 22!! Nice round number!
  14. I'm also a member over at the Goldwing site. Over there, they praise the Bridgestones and cuss the E3s. I know we are talking different bikes, but you would think that tire charictaristics are charictaristics.
  15. Downloaded the ? Release version (not beta version). Internet was noticably faster, but a couple features in Facebook no longer worked. We had to go back to IE8 cause my wife is into that Facebook stuff. A week or so later we got an email from Facebook saying they had a problem.
  16. Just go ahead and get the stripes you want ordered "to-go". Sounds reasonable to me. Shurely he has carry out service:doh:
  17. From this I'm taking that the wire harness is too small to carry a car horn. Monty, You have a PM.
  18. The right side horn has quit working on my RSV. The horn in the left cowling is still working but it is useless. I've heard babies cry louder than it sounds. I didn't particularly want to go with the air horn mod, so I hunted around and found a nice looking replacement auto horn. Plugged in the new horn and it doesn't work at all, not only that, it also kills the other horn as well. Neither horn works with the new horn plugged in. Removed the new horn and the left horn works again. Measured the voltage available at the horn connection and got full battery voltage. Don't have the meter to check current draw. Per the wiring diagram, there are no hidden connectors in line to drop voltage under load. Checked the new horn by jumping directly to the battery and it works fine. Just doesn't work when pluged into the harness. My question: is there something special about the OEM horn on the RSV? Does it take less current than an automobile horn? Other ideas?
  19. Regardless of any drama between them at the time, what kind of rider speeds off from the "group" without so much as a fare thee well after a day of riding? Further, what kind of boyfriend just rides off leaving the girlfriend with some other guy without saying anything? I could see it if they had a fight along the way but they didn't. Maybe he was just waiting until he was closer to home to take off because he was really, really lost all day and didn't know how to get home? On the other hand, what if LilBeaver is totally misreading the situation and the b/f is not a b/f at all, and is just along to keep things at an odd number and insure a "friends only" relationship? You never know what is really going through another persons mind. This would bring up two possibilities: 1. Dispite LilBeaver's protestations, she may believe he is interested in her and she does not return the feelings (me thinks he doth protest too much)! 2. Dispite her protestations, she is interested but since LilBeaver says he is not, she is bringing a third because she doesn't trust herself in his presence. :witch_brew: We need to get them both to a maintenance day and have a counciling session with them.
  20. Try this again! I just came across this site advertised on Craigs List. Its not RSV related, but I know a lot of you have different bikes also. www.gravesj44.webs.com If your bike isn't listed, they say bring it by and they will design you an instrument face for free. This place is just down the road from me, though I've never been there or seen their work.
  21. Sounds to me like you are getting the exact same deal that I did from Yamaha. Except for seeming like it took forever, I have no real complaints. I would like to offer a couple points to consider based on what happened to me. Even though they are going to have your engine scattered from here to yonder, remember that after it is back together, a carb sync is still a routine maintenance item and not covered by the warranty. Specifically ask them to do a sync (and pay for it) or check it as soon as you get home. I found mine out by 7 inches and did my own when I got home. Same situation with the air filters. Maintenance item, not covered. Only difference is I didn't get a choice whether to take them or not. Not really a problem, just a bill before picking up the bike. When my engine went, I was at 60 MPH and fully loaded. I was in a full rear wheel locked skid untill stopped. A couple months after getting the bike back, my rear tire (with around 3000 miles) started shedding big chunks of rubber. Was it because of the heat of the skid? Won't say for sure because it was a Metzler, but you may want to consider a new rear tire just to be safe. Other that that, Yamaha did me right!
  22. Maybe stupid is a self correcting problem.
  23. Lawyer Noah Kushlefsky has filed suit in New York against Toyota Motor Company. Seems as though Mary Rivera purchased a new Lexus and parked it in her down stairs garage. According to the suit, the engine was so quiet that Mrs Rivera did not realize that the engine was still running. The following morning relatives found Mrs Rivera passed out in her upstairs bedroom and her boyfriend Ernst Codella (also a Lawyer) deceased in bed, victims of carbon monoxide posioning. The suit claims Toyota is liable because they failed to install an automatic engine shut off if the car is left unattended for some peroid of time. On the other hand; this may also prove you really can't fix stupid.
  24. OK, just for a minute let's all pretend we are in the camp that thinks Dyna Beads work. Wait for it...are we there yet? Good, Here goes. Being a cheap bas$#&d, I was just wondering. If Dyna Beads work to ballance your tires, why wouldn't BBs work just as well at 1/10 the cost? Easier to recover and reuse in your next tire change too. Of course they would have to be installed at the time of the change. Just wondering. Opinions?
  25. When I took my RSV in for a blown engine, Yamaha never asked me for any records at all. This tells me that receipts are not a requirement of either the terms of the warrantee nor a firm policy from Yamaha. Since I assume Yamaha has designated "regions" for their service reps, you probably have a different representative than I did. I only conclude that the request is comming from the dealer or the service rep, hoping to scare you off. Neither is the final word on the subject. Stand firm, be polite as long as you can. Everyone has a boss, don't hesitate to ask to chat with them. BTW: Manufacturing your own receipts is pure fraud. I guarantee the pentalties for fraud are much greater than the total value of any motorcycle.
