  1. I put pics here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19542 I like the idea of the horn out in front of me instead of behind me. Did not like idea of it under or inside fairing because I thought it would be muffled - but it is very loud even installed in front fairing!
  2. Yeah I ride my RSV like that all the time - NOT! Just glad I don't have the nuts to drive like these nuts!
  3. It took most of my Sat - now its done I took video/audio but cannot attach here - anyone know how to do that?
  4. Actually Donald - removing seat to get to fuel pump, battery, coolant reservoir, etc., - more than I wish I had to! I have had my USED 2001 RSV a couple months and had to rebuild carbs - so that was on/off many times! replace battery then several times when installing lights then to jump it when lights ran batt down - man was I glad I had the wing nuts on the seat then! then I got new sebel air horn and route wiring under seat & tank Then to run wires for passing lamps, etc, etc, etc C'mon Donald - don't you play with your scooter when you ain't ridin her? Playin with her is 1/2 the fun!
  5. anyone come up with a decent replacement for the nuts that fasten the driver's seat? I tried wing nuts but no better and 1 vibrated off.
  6. Guys (& gals!) If you put the fish tail straight pipes on you will never notice the whinning either from the tires, clutch box or the whinner on the pass seat - until she slaps you on the helmet because you are whinning out the bike in 3rd gear and hittin 90+ LOL!
  7. Any one know of a good and active mercury/ford car forum? I found a cuouple via search but they are dead.
  8. just ordered mine in black from CA for $40 shipped and will put in fairing - same horn $50 local + tax
  9. I put this kit on a Kawa Vulcan a few years back and pd $50 here: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?action=detail&model_ID=1&Category_ID=48&manufacturer_ID=223&product_ID=6421&sblid_name=detail I found the same ringed led lights at Advanced Auto (Discount Auto) in FL @ $6 a 2 pack & installed on my Honda with the same results! Now the store does not carry these. Cannot find these ringed led lights locally anywhere. Anyone know what I am talking about and if so where I can find them online or where?
  10. Hagmaster 86 VR thanks for offer but got tape and removal & reapp was a success to other tank - thanks for all help here !
  11. Thanks ECK - AFTER the emblems come off damaged tank, I want to be able to put them onto another good tank. Not worried about removing glue etc. Will the rubber on emblems be OK after using the Fishing line to remove them? What is best way and glue to apply the used emblems onto the good gas tank?
  12. The 2007 RSV chromed metal emblems seem to be glued onto the tank. I want to remove them from one tank and install (glue?) onto another without any damage to either tanks or emblems. Anyone do this and/or anyone know what is best technique?
  13. I got a sylvania dot-it at parts store. It would not stick onto lid. So I used a piece of industrial strength velcro and also was able to stick the light onto the lid where it curves where it closes over the latch mechanism on the bottom part thus avoiding any objects that would be put into the trunk!
  14. Mikey - BUT you can do it! I am not a mechanic by profession - just a home mechanic - and I have torn into 2 RSV Mikuni 4-pack carbs 3 times in the past six weeks since I got my 2 RSV 6 weeks ago. And I have to do it again on 3 carbs this month to sell 1 bike, sell 1 carb set & keep 1 for my own 01 RSV. Tedious but a must do!
  15. Anyone have a trunk light and if so can you please comment as to what you have and maybe post a pic or 2?
  16. I can add my 2 cents - - - I run the high beam in day light hours and low beam in eve. I commute and am in dark in am & pm. I want all 3 lights on all the time whether I am using hi or lo beam. The whole purpose is for the car drivers to see MY lights and take note. By the time their brains figure it out what the heck I am at least they have noticed that I am there. Most car drivers - and I have to admit that I am too guilty - look past a cycle. Everyone is conditioned to see a car or truck. A single light confuses them and a multilighted cycle makes them at least notice it whether they yield or respond at least they notice. And a high beam and 2 other lights on the front has a better chance than a single low beam to be seen. All newer model bikes's headlight comes on with ignition key. In the old days this was not the case. Safety standrds recognize that mandatory headlights on for bikes has a much better chance of being noticed by car drivers than a bike with no light on in day time. High beams at night are not only illegal but dangerous plus all oncoming traffic will be constantly flashing back which is not pleasant and also blinding and dangerous.
  17. here is what I made to get the RSV up & jack out from under it cost was $4 for 2x2 & bolts + scaps of metal around the shop + $35 for 4 jack stands @ Walmart. the flat bar was because the jack frame is only 12" wide for the 2x2 wood frame to fit onto it and the RSV peg supports are a few inches more. the long 2x2 is 29" by 12" wide the flat bar is 14" or so I have 1 RSV up on it for 10 days and no problem. so now I can use jack for other RSV & my Honda
  18. I did install the brake flasher I got on sale @ custom cruiser (cheaper on ebay & JCW) and they work great! I bought the $50 blinker/tail conversion kit from custom cruiser for my Kawa Vulcan and it was good. But when I got the next ride - Honda Sabre - I got the same round LED lights at local auto supply for $6 and worked great. Now they do not carry this item. The circular lights slipped right over the 1157 bulb and siliconed in the lense behind the bulb. The custom cruiser directions told you to silicone the lights into the amber reflector lense. Behind the bulb is better. When I find these ringed lights again somewhere they will go into the directionals next - but I am not paying $50 for them!
  19. 3 venture tail/brake lights - hope to be seen in the dark. I commute and both ways are in the dark. So far battery has not quit on me!
  20. Still need: Chrome rear fender brace - left side chrome windshield trim INNER fairing RIGHT lower/leg cowling Right passenger arm rest Right passenger arm rest cowling LEFT bag guard trunk lid
  21. I need chrome windshield trim too! I got wrecked RSV from ebay also and it needs more little parts than I had bargained for. I am buying parts off of ebay and memebers on this forum. Still need: Chrome rear fender brace - left side chrome windshield trim INNER fairing RIGHT lower/leg cowling Right passenger arm rest Right passenger arm rest cowling LEFT bag guard trunk lid If anyone has these for sale - please let me know - thanks in advance! Pinwall has many parts but is WAY too expensive! BUT I did buy RSV carbs from them for my 01 for $250 auction which they list for $$350 - so you just need to watch for deals if you want to save a few bucks.
  22. questions were posted whether battery could handle extra current needed for lights - the answer is no it cannot. after I charged the battery I took my wife for her 1st ride on my recently aquired RSV. I was fortunate enough to find a neighbor less than a mile from where the bike died and was able to jump it to ride it home instead of it being towed! Can the lights withstand the vibration mounted on lower part of fork? No as can be seen from pic. Next is to spend the xtra bucks to get the tried & proven after-market light bar! I am thinking of adding 2 xtra tail/brake lights that use the same 1057 dual element bulb that is the standard Yamaha bulb. My questions - anyone ever have any battery drain from: 1 - using the passing lights? 2 - using any other rear tail/brake or running lights?
  23. With all respects - you have designed a very useful & very needed tool for those of us Venturer's who are doing their own thing! The pics here are what I did from your design. I am not selling anything. I used 2x2 wood, & hardware from Lowes - 3 1/2 anchor bolts ============== I do not see where/how I can upload pics
  24. As you can see from the pic I had a $5 walmart fanny pack strpped under the tank. It rashed up the paint a little so I took it off.
