  1. I'm not a member, but everything that's open to the masses seems to be working for me??
  2. On the circlp. If you press the plunger rod down into the cylinder and stick a small screw driver thru the large hole in the reserve to keep it depressed it makes getting to the circlip much easier. I went down to Harbor Freight and picked up one of those small plier sets and ground a notch in the tip of the needle nose. Makes getting the clip out a no-brainer....
  3. LOL... That puppy does move around a bit. Kinda unnerving...
  4. One of the things you might want to do is check out a few helmet tests done by some of the tech labs for MC Magazines. When looking I found a few very informative articles posted on the web. At the time the Nolan wasn't the best but did rate high in the groups and it was in a price range I could afford. That's why I went with it. I also bought an 'el cheepo' modular for the kids. The face release broke after only a few times of use because I found it was linked to the latches by string when I tore into it. It would no longer open. I threw it out. I can only imagine what would have happened if it had busted while being worn.... I know we all like to shop and save money, but some of these economy helmets might not be all they're cracked up to be.... Be carefull....
  5. I don't get into windy conditions all that much, but back in '07, on the way back from Ft Collins, GeorgeS and I split off from the group returning to California and took 30 up thru Wyoming. Big black storm cells, monster cross winds, and lightening. A 2 Lane road with 18 wheelers coming from the opposite direction. It was an E ticket ride, but were able to stay in one lane. When we finally stopped for fuel in Karremer and George took his helmet off eyes were huge. He said it had to be the worst conditions he'd ever ridden in, and he rides a bunch. I don't know what the wind speed clocked out at, but it had to be close to a catagory 1. It's fun to talk about it now, but I wouldn't want to do it again....
  6. I think the only way to tell for sure is hold it up to the bike and eye ball it.
  7. For what it's worth I'm a Nolan fan. I bought the first helmet new off an Ebay vendor. Since then I've picked up several, the latest a N-Com 103N complete with the bluetooth headset. It was like new, used once, and in my size and matching bike color, with a $75 dollar BIN. Well Duh!! Just the headset and bluetooth run $350. I guess I have 5 of them right now... it's as bad as the Ventures.... Need to get rid of a couple on Craigslist.
  8. Emachines??? They still making those things????
  9. Just a friendly reminder to use the 'GIFT' feature when sending Dan something via Paypal.
  10. I've been dealing with the Insurance company claim. They are making me jump thru a few more hoops than I've ever had to before, but so far so good. The kicker will be what they offer as a settlement... I've also been watching Craigslist natiionally. Something I accidently discovered while using Google is the 'image' link on the side menu. After doing a search I can click on the link and every pic on every ad will appear. Being a visual kind of guy it makes searching for a particular item a lot quicker. Even Ventures. Try and then click on the image link in the left menu.
  11. Great looking bike.... Even has some nice aftermarket safety chrome on her....

It depends on how long we plan on staying, but if it's for a couple of weeks I generally trade USD for Pesos locally with a no-load currency trader. If I'm just going down for a couple of days, and driving, I'll use a kiosk near the boarder and take the hit for the 10%. If I run out on a long trip I'll check out a silver shop in a local mall, and generally get a better deal than the daily rate.... Paying for things with USdollars will only cost you in the long run as most shops will never give you change close to the exchange rate. They always round off to the lower rate.... Especially when buying fuel.
  13. All the rest are the wrong color. Here's a pic of a '99 silver with whites.... Can't get much better than that..
  14. Thanks for finding this. I picked up one of the VentureLine trunk wing/LEDs and it came with a 2 into one pos wire. Couldn't figure out why?? It must have duel intensity LED's... Cool!!.....
  15. I killed a Deka last July. 8.9vdc. Put it on a smart charger overnight in the motel room, and the next morning it was full. The only damage I think might have happened is it no longer holds a charge for 3 months over the winter just sitting. Now it's only about two, but it still recovers to full after charging. So with daily or weekly use during the summer it should be fine. Those Dekas are pretty tough..
  16. My cholesterol went up 10 points just looking at those pics.... Hmmm... Gotta give that one a try.. I picked up a Kamoto Smoker at an auction a couple of months ago for $35 bucks.... nice way to break it in... http://lh5.googleusercontent.com/public/cA9iAoNS7hLb_7yg0jU5ezLzdErI6vj10XbgdxTJCuiYTjc9DexNkjO30uZu1khODK-x9GnyswgYPWfm_tqAI7_IWm5XdFGjx7v8B_MAn4t81IFUToo8xTy0BMRHd5s4iNHD4sWybCXZUHKQVaMaJoX8ap426K0BxvOK94iR9o4puj00Qr5iGdk
  17. Another possibility other than the blocked return is the rotors may be a tad thicker, or a little off center causing the outboard pad to drag a bit after torqueing the axle. I had the drag problem with new EBC pads on the '83. After riding it a while the pads wore down enough to give some clearance off the rotor. It didn't take all that long to spin freely again. The same may hold true because of the new rotors??
  18. Here's a link to the Emgo .pdf catalog. Lots of choices, and accessories. I get the impression that maybe their mufflers are not baffled... http://www.emgo.com/catalogs/muffler-2010-ebook.pdf
  19. I feel for ya... Back in the late 60's I left for an annual sales meeting in Florida on Jan 2, and spent one night at home in my own bed until March 1st. Said that was enough and called the office and told them I was going to go underground for 2 weeks. Don't call me...I'll call you...
  20. I think you nailed it Goose. I was going to mention the lens and bulb change, but you got that one too....
  21. About 3 years ago I went on the 'Nogoody' diet. Salad for brunch, and no starches for dinner. Also no cake, pies, ice cream, potato chips, etc. etc... Lost 50 pounds in 2 1/2 months and didn't get hungry. So I'm going on it again...starting... yesterday... I'm going to put off power walking the block for now. Did they ever give you an angiogram? If my brother had believed what they first told him, and didn't insist that something was still wrong he could very well be horizontal by now.
  22. Check with Lone Eagle. I think he has a set of 4-2-4's that came off his RSTD. He may want to let them go???
  23. The most expensive is the Rivco at around $350 new. They can be found on Ebay occassionally for about half that. Don (Freebird) used to make and sell one but has quit. The other source was Ponch, but since his accident he might not ever get back into making them again. Maybe someone has one laying around in their garage??? I have an Ebay Rivco and really like it.
  24. I'm a little over 6'6" and the best thing you can do is get rid of the floorboards and the heel toe shifter, install highway pegs to stretch the legs out, and adjust the shift peg lower so you don't need to raise your foot off the peg when shifting. Adjust the brake to where it feels confortable and you're good to go....
  25. Yeah, it's scary. I thought I was safe. I hope they do something. If not I'll have to get on their a$$ again...
