Electrical capacity
jlh3rd replied to Sandbagger's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
i'm no expert, but if a stator can't maintain it's rated load without burning wires, then it is a faulty design in the system.....so...the stock stator may be undersized for additional loads we like to add, but it is not a faulty designed stator, so...no.... you won't damage your stator or wiring....if the stator is putting out its maximum, and it's not enough to supply the demand, the battery makes up for the extra...which discharges the battery.....but the stator or its wiring shouldn't fail......your wiring problem was something else, it was not the load on the stator... i guess i should add that parts fail...for any number of reasons....but not because of normal operations from reading a lot of posts here....these bikes have a weak point at the three wire connector from the stator that gets dirty or corroded, which reduces the current supply from the stator and builds heat (resistance)...so that could have been your real issue.. -
jeez......that's why i use 2 2x12's on each side of my ramp for walking boards...

NEW LED highway lights 8W each 120 Lumens
jlh3rd replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
the lights are equal to a par 36 lamp...so will fit in a housing for a par 36 lamp.......but, if you have the lights for a stratoliner those housings measure 4 3/4 inches..which i have....i made them fit by using closed cell ,stick on insulation aroung the edge of the led lamp.... and i also get the interference on some radio stations...102.3 gets totally blocked out on mine........... -
static electricty...true......putting a match out in a cup of gas..i'd have to see that cause the match flame would ignite the vapors before it hit the liquid..throwing gas on a lit match, maybe.......now, putting a cigarette out in a cup of gas, or throwing gas on a cigarette and putting it out, i've seen it done.........
-
funny....it had me all the way to the end....

sleeperhawk.. i bet it seems some of my posts are contradictory.....the par 36 lights i tried were always for the venture housings.....when i switched to the strat...i "assumed" they were par 36 size....i just changed the bulbs........so when i got these leds...i was just thinking par 36....didn't fit...saw they were smaller than the strats lights....so, just assumed they were 4 1/4.............anyway, i found a solution..........and you can't tell, and it's a very snug fit....
-
nope....gonna use 'em ....already have one mounted by using closed cell stick on roll insulation around the light....
-
ok.... mystery solved the stratoliner lenses are 4 3/4 inches.....so the light housing ring inside diameter is 4 3/4 ......the led's ARE 4 1/2, not 4 1/4.........so.....all i know to try is some peel and stick insulation to try and snug the light up......
-
mine are yamaha....they're for the strat..but, like others on here , i've put them on my venture.....every par 36 bulb i've ever ordered has fit just fine........these do not...
-
the specs say 4 1/2.........but they are not........
-
ruffy yeh....they will fit up against the rubber gasket...but no way will the chrome cover hold them tight...and also hold my visor....they are just not the right diameter
-
yeh....i liked 'em to......and some people ordered 'em and say they fit right in.....but no way are they going to fit......curious as to what ruffy's and rlyon's measured....
-
no i ordered from this site and from the original link....as you've posted... and they are 12v-15v par36.......led......now, i have the housings for the strat ( i think that's the model) that you mount on our ventures.....but those are par 36 housings......the problem is that these led's are 4 1/4...not 4 1/2.....so i don't see how ya'll made 'em fit...or , you know, why mine are 4 1/4.......
-
rlyons i ordered the greenboat led driving lights....and they don't fit...they are too small for my housings....i measured them and they are 4 1/4 in. diameter......the stock ones are 4 1/2....so how did you get them to fit.......they say par 36........
-
no problem with mine also

my temp gauge pretty much shows the same thing........if it was my car doing this, i'd say my thermostat was bad.....but the bike being exposed to airflow like it is, i believe it's normal... .. and what/where is a thermostat by-pass setting ?

latchkey if you read sgn's post and his attachments....you will see how easy it is to use the motorcycle attachment, and how well it works.........i also purchased the mojo tire tool and blocks.....which make it easier to use, and protects my rims.......i've changed tires on my venture and the harley i had..........plus all my and family's car tires........i'm pleased with it.....

i understood your request 100% the first time.......so not everyone felt you were being "moralistic".......

maybe the 1st and 2nd gen are different....but i had 3 individual wires running thru 3 different holes in the grommet.......then had fabric covering the rest of the 3 wire bundle.......i should have added that i used sealant on the outside of the grommet....and the stuff yamaha sells now is called 3 bond 1194..semi-drying liquid gasket...
