  2. After my mishap in November I had to buy a new "right side" cowling to replace the cracked one. I got it new for $187 and it came with a finished paint in black. I think I got it from Cruiser Customs but not sure because I bought a few items from different places. I'll check my reciepts and post when I get home.
  3. That's right folks "The Big Easy" otherwise known as New Orleans is hosting this years Bike Week in the place of Myrtle Beach. May 6th - May 10th, 2009 Check out www.bikeweekneworleans.com
  4. There is a product called TSP (tri sodium phosphate) that works well. I use it on all my siding, soffat, gutters every spring and cleans them up real nice.
  5. Don,It all depends on your utility provider and what source is used to produce electricity (hydro/coal/natural gas). Living in southern Louisiana all of our electricity is produced from natural gas so as oil and gas prices go up, so do the utility bills with the pass through. My house is unfortunately total electric. The developer never ran a natural gas line when the area was being developed. I live in a 2100 sq ft house with and above ground pool and hot tub. In the winter which is very mild my heater is set on 63 and rarely comes on and the electric bill averages around $150-200. In the peak of summer with everything running including the a/c my electric bill averages $425-475. Do your research and calculate your payback before investing.

  7. I just stop drinking beer and the weight falls off. Have been going to a local gym for the past 5 years 3-5 times a week, cardio and weight training. The beer is my downfall and makes me soft around the middle no matter how much I train.
  8. Permeation. Permeation is the normal process by which the air in a tire bleeds through the tire’s body or carcass. It is typical for an "air" filled tire to lose 1-2 psi of pressure every month through normal permeation whereas it can take several months for a NitroFilled tire to lose a single pound of pressure. Temperature Change. All gases expand and contract with temperature. If you live in an area that experiences dramatic temperature changes, you will have to adjust your tire pressure accordingly. Typically you will only have to adjust your tire pressure "up", adding pressure as ambient temperatures decrease. Count on losing about 2% of your total tire pressure for every 10 degrees in temperature reduction.
  9. Why Inflate with Nitrogen? Compressed air is your tire’s worst enemy. Air is about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% other. Nitrogen is inert, non combustible and non corrosive. Oxygen, on the other hand, is immensely destructive to rubber and other tire materials. As soon as a tire is manufactured and exposed to air, the effects of “oxidation” begin to deteriorate the rubber. Over time it loses its elasticity and strength, just like an old rubber band you’ve probably found around your home. This same process occurs in tires inflated with air as the oxygen attacks the rubber molecules, working from the inside out, until the oxygen, and its destructive properties, permeates the tire structure and ultimately the tread. The purity of nitrogen available from nitrogen generators generally ranges from 95% (low purity) to 99.9% (high purity). A minimum of 95% purity in the serviced tire is the minimum allowable purity that must be maintained in the tire to enjoy the benefits that nitrogen provides. Tire Pressure loss: Permeation. Knee sugery

Had the right knee scoped in 91 and againg in 2001. (cartilage and bone fragments) Just had the left one done in May this year. The first two on the right knee took about 8 weeks to heal, the one on the left knee this year I was cutting grass 3 days after surgery and back to work in 18 days. Absolutely no pain after the surgery. Had to be on self injections of Lovenox to avoid clotting and went through a series of Synvysc injections (made from rooster combs) to replace the cushion in the joint from the cartilage removal. Hope you heal up fast.

  15. I installed a power boosted antenna inside the fairing for the radio. Got it at Pepboy's and get great reception.
  16. You sure it's not a Harley??? Sorry......just kidding, I couldn't resist !
  17. All left hand thread nuts and bolts are marked this way. Chrysler had left handed lug nuts for a while on their cars and one day while getting tires replaced on my car the guy at the shop didn't know this. Before I could stop him he wrung off three lugs with an impact!
  18. Mounting Driving Lights........ check this thread
  19. Had some cracks in the tall windshield at the bottom screw holes so while I was waiting for the new one to arrive I cut the cracked one at the bottom, drilled holes and installed as a test to see how much difference it made in the wind. Cutting at the bottom was simple and even though it was a little narrower there was not much impact on me but Momma didn't like it on longer rides. too much wind and head buffeting. Got a show chrome tinted shorty for under $100 which stays on the bike most of the time but I swap over to the taller one if we take longer rides. Like JerryK says, very easy to swap.
  20. I AM THANKFUL: FOR THE WIFE WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOG S TONIGHT, BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME, AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE. FOR THE KIDS WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES BECAUSE IT MEANS THEY ARE AT HOME, NOT ON THE STREETS. FOR THE TAXES I PAY BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM EMPLOYED . FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS. FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT ME A LITTLE TOO SNUG BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT. FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING, WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING, AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT BECAUSE IT MEANS WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH... FOR THE PARKING SPOT I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION . FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM WARM. FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH WHO SINGS OFF KEY BECAUSE IT MEANS I CAN HEAR. FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR. FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD. FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE. FOR THE crazy people I work with BECAUSE they make work interesting and fun! Live well, Laugh often, & Love with all of your heart!

    06 RSV on eBay

Laid my 2002 down a week and a half ago, Progressive adjuster came 2 days later and totaled it out for 10800 and I bought it back for 3500. Nothing changed with the title meaning it's not a salvage title. Kept all the same paperwork and the adjuster said it is still totally insurable for full coverage, comp and collision. He said just keep receipts, take pictures etc for all the repairs and paint just incase something happens in the future it will all be covered again. All parts on order and going to get some custom painting done. Will post pics in a couple of weeks of the finished product.
  22. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to touch up the black on the engine? I have some spots that I would like to touch up.
  23. I agree with others...waaaay too much for that much mileage! I got my 2002 in 2005 with 2400 miles on it for $10,500. (basically stole it) As i posted the other day, I laid it down last Saturday and yesterday the insurance adjuster (Progressive) totalled it out at a value of $10,800 counting the extras and I bought it back for $3500. Keep searching, there's a deal out there just waiting for you.
  24. Met with the adjuster today (Progressive) after Saturdays lay down and we reached a settlement. He told me all he deals with is bikes, boats and RV's and once he started researching parts for Ventures was amazed at the prices. He told me he has never seen prices that high even dealing with Harley's. The Damage was all cosmetic but once the repair estimate got over $8000 he totalled the bike and I bought it back for salvage value. Been shopping ebay for a few items but I'm now looking for a right side outer and inner cowling if anyone happens to have one in good shape.
