It's been cooler than average here too (since the Newby invasion). The low next Friday & Saturday is supposed to be in the twenties.

I bought the $25.00 battery operated gloves. They heat the palms and back of the hands ok, but don't work well in the fingers. LilBit used them for about five hundred miles with the same results plus they turned her hands black. Oy!

:BLUE: There are options for clocks. I use the clock in the dash and a multi function gauge that has a clock in it. When the trip meter kicks in to alert you that you're running low on gas, I leave it on and observe the other gauge/meter. http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv87/dawarren77377/Bike%20shots/090408A.jpg?t=1261400774 http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv87/dawarren77377/Bike%20shots/090408D.jpg?t=1261400848 Ponch

www.FireStik.com offers a 2' model in the FireStik and FireStikII. They come in several colors. I don't know how performance is affected regarding range and reception, but with the windings encased in the body, it might be comparable to the stock Yammie rods. You have to order from a dealer as they don't sell direct. Here's a neat option. The FireStikIIUSA. http://www.firestik.com/images/fs-usa.jpg

I must say I had my doubts when it started going up. After it was in the air, it seemed ok. Thom didn't strap it down and nobody stood guard over it to make sure it wouldn't fall. Squid must have trusted it as he was under it a while. Maybe Thom or Squidly will chime in.

After seeing Thom's G1 on his high lift jack, I would think all you would need to do is to widen Larry's adapter to fit under the exhaust. Possibly bolt on a pair of 2 X 4's.

I use mine whenever I need extra light. ie: driving at night in deer country or when I want some extra help being noticed. ie: traffic (day or night).

Be sure to put the rack on in the correct orientation. I've seen many a plugged hole in the trunk lids of RSV's because someone drilled the lid and mounted the rack only to find they put the rack on 180° off. They had to re-drill.

Freebird Centerstand Measurements
Ponch replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My AIS is still attached but reworked to allow the stand to fully retract against the left exhaust. I think it has to do with the lever on the centerstand. That is what seems to drag. It's not bad. Has only happened about six times in two years.- 10 replies

RSTD Exaust tips- 2006
Ponch replied to GOINtoHELL's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There's a pair for sale in the VR classifieds. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2346/cat/7 I put some on my stock RSV mufflers. Had to drill and tap the mounting holes...... Piece of cake. The Tour Deluxe mufflers are already drilled and tapped to accept the end caps. Ponch -
I tried the bypass today using Gary's schematic for adding a relay. I couldn't get it to work. Apparantly there is some circuit inside the Hazard relay that is compounded in another circuit. Gary worked with me over the phone and we determined that the relay was fine. We took the relay out and bypassed the power from the ignition switch. We applied 12v straight from the battery and it wouldn't work with the ignition off. With 12v from the battery applied and the ignition on, the 4ways worked. On to plan C. (if we can think of a plan C)

Have you looked at the four way flasher circuit? I've been thinking about a way to energize the flashers with out the ignition being on. I tried bypassing the switch by supplying 12v to the brown wire that feeds the 4ways, but it turns on the headlight (and a few other things, I think) as well. Whatch think?

Oldest & YOungest: WHO WAS 77 YR OLD RIDER? Lost record. Help!
Ponch replied to Zfrebird4's topic in Watering Hole
Welcome CJ. We're glad you're aboard. Enjoy that Venture. -
I've always been a fan of deep sounding pipes, so I put on a set of Road Glide mufflers. After several long trips, I switched back to the stock pipes with Tour Deluxe tips. For me (and wife), the loud mufflers were too annoying. Now I can hear when something goes amiss on the bike.

with add ons... The only thing is, if they have to remove anything added to do warranty work, they charge extra to remove and re-install said items. Does not affect warranty unless add ons caused the problem. (according to dealer service mgr.) PS. I found a use for part of the old cassette player.
