Just gave three more guys the link to the site. Maybe that will help push it over the top. Something must be working. Whenever I'm off site for a while I start seeing new names and icons avitars popping up. Keep it rolling Don!!!:)

Maybe the guys wife bought the bike as a going away gift. If he keep riding like that, he's definitely going awaaaayy!!! Aren't you supposed to get wiser with age. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::whistling:

Don't take Bill tooo seriously. He loves riding with our groups and is a lot of fun to be around. He just doesn't like strangers in his space. :no-no-no: I've had the same things happen to me. Guys I don't know pulling next to me at a light or passing me in my lane. If I want someone to go around me in my lane, I'll slide to the right and motion for them to go around. Then and only then do I want to share an 8' wide strip of concrete with a total stranger in a bigger hurry than I am.

I told my wife just to step off on and stay out of the way. The bike won't flip completely over if the bike is stopped or going very slowly. My 1st gen will come to rest on motor guards and foot pegs. The extra weight of her remaining in the seat will just speed up the fall. Keep her safe and happy. That way, if something does get dinged, she won't mind too much if you have to buy a new "shiny" replacement thing for it. :cool10:

Bill, I'm surprised at you. Barry Manilo? I always had you pegged as a Patsy Cline kind of guy. :rotf: I agree with Bill though, I don't like riding tandem in my lane either.:no-no-no:

It is important to develop a classy dismount and a remount that appears effortless to impress the locals. :cool10:

I waited three months for my dealer to get one in just so I could sit on it. Very nice, but my 1st gen is paid for and a lot younger than I am. :rotf:

I have dropped mine once and I'm sure I will again. I'm nursing a bruise and skinned ankle after my last close call. Pulled through the drive thru at our local Hardees to get me a sausage and egg biscuit for breakfast. After the young lady handed me my sack, I coasted down a few feet so the truck behind me could get theirs. I put down the kickstand and swung my leg over to put the sandwich in my travel trunk. MISTAKE!!! Bike was on a slight incline, nudged it with my leg, and down it started. Only thing that kept it up was the fact that somehow my ankle got between the kickstand and the bike. Ouch!! It was push it up or get pinned under it. You are all correct, that is one very heavy bike to stop from going over. If it hadn't been for a curb I could put my other foot against it would have been on its side but resting on me.

:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Right!! I also believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and Honest Texans!!! :stirthepot:

If I didn't know you better, I would think you were implying something negative about my bike.:no-no-no: You wouldn't want to hurt all of our little 1st gen hearts, would you Mike?:crying: Regarding the Hemi Charger post, around here we have some state guys riding around in them. That just don't seem right somehow.

Hey Jeff, too bad they don't make a "hyper chip" for the fast bikes, ain't it? :rotf::rotf::rotf: Jim

Just couldn't help myself today. Riding home after a twelve hour day, I came up on a pickup following a crotch rocket. Rider had a neat flamed shirt and fancy helmet and looked good, if you can look good going 55mph on a crotch rocket. He had a puzzled looked on his face as I cruised past him. Guess he didn't think the old guy on the old 1st gen had it in him. When I hit 95 he just kinda slid into the background. About two miles further I saw this speck coming up and low and behold, it was our little speed demon. He was probably running about 110 when he passed me. Evidently he didn't like high speed running cause I caught him in a couple of more miles. This time he laid down on the tank and really opened it up. Still had to wait on him to turn off the highway when we got to town. For just a split second I dreamed of a V-Max. I'm sorry, what was I thinking. I ride a 1st gen. I don't know what he would have done with one of you speedier guys, (you know who you are). Just made my day. Anybody else done that lately?:cool10:

Kuddos to you and all of your profession. Can't thank you enough. (Your undercover attire needs to be re-evaluated though)

Mike, you know we don't have chains on the first gen, but that steel butt pad sure looks a lot like the 2nd gen offering!! :rotf::stirthepot::stirthepot:

Pat and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. We know that your Grandson is in a better place, but our Love and Prayers go out to you and your family. May God comfort you as only he can as you journey through this valley. Jim & Patricia

We have a WADDLE
Ozark replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have Venoms on my '88 and I love them. Didn't like them at first though. Turned out to be tire pressure. There was a link here a year or two ago with lots of posts to it about tire pressures. I'm getting old, so I don't remember the specifics, but once I adjusted the tire pressure all the wobble went away and the bike handles like a dream. That's a cheap thing to check out. Good luck. -
Count me in for one for my '88. Thanks for the work. Jim

Seen too many tornadoes and too much damage in N.E. Arkansas. Used to be mainly in the spring, but we've had warnings off and on all fall, winter and spring. Kind of gets tiring after a while. It's kind of like all weather though, can't do a thing about it and don't want to live anywhere else. Besides, when it isn't raining or storming or -20 degrees or +100 degrees, Arkansas is one fine place to ride.

Can't help it, but when I think of Redneck on a dirt bike I automatically picture a stork on a tricycle, arms and legs hanging out everywhere. :rotf::rotf: Might just be a wee bit jealous. Heard that is one very nice bike. Have fun and get dirty. :cool10:

Welcome to the best bike forum on the web. If you can't find the information or help you need regarding the classic 1st generation Venture here, it can't be found. Like most have said, look at ebay and the classifieds for many items. Good luck and enjoy a truly great bike.

I'm sure you will be seeing that scene over and over again for several days. It's a very traumatic thing to witness. Young and invincible seem to go hand in hand, but never the less, I hope he makes it okay. Only the Grace of God has kept me upright on the road all these years.

I can finally be in the group!
Ozark replied to Principal's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
You might not want to share adventures with all of these crazies, but a few of them are mighty nice to have around. Welcome aboard and just make yourself at home.
