  1. That is a real biggie right now. In 35 years and over a million miles driven with zero claims and zero citations, my insurance (car, house and bike) more than tripled overnight because of job problems pulling my credit score down. They have me in the highest risk category that there is. I drive a 16 year old vehicle with 250K miles, and pay the same as a 18 year old with multiple convictions for OWI driving a new Corvette, I have shopped around and they are all the same within $25/yr. They all know when they have you bent over. The worst thing is that it takes 7 years to get the negatives to fall of your credit report so they can keep soaking you for more cash that you can not afford. With the new insurance bill in WI, I will be getting another hefty rate increase real soon. [/Rant off]
  2. I am still working on a way to get train horns on my bike. I have train horns on my P/U truck and they work wonders for tonsil inspections on pinheads. I have found all of the parts and figured out how to mount everything but the horn its self. Its a big hunk of horn to fit on a bike. For now I will have to limp along with my "wimpy" Bad Boy air horns.
  3. In the description written by Squeeze it says that the gaskets will come with the new starter clutch. In your nitty-gritty you mention that I will have to get the gaskets and a crush washer. Are the gaskets and/or crush washer included or must I source them? This is the first mention of the crush washer that I have seen, which part is it?
  4. Hmmmm....... New seller with zero feedback.
  5. Dang the road to the beach is not plowed. I'm chicken to drive the bike down a steep snow/ice covered road with a 100 foot drop if you slide. The 4x4 was no problem. There might be a start or 2 left in my starter clutch. How about me, my truck, at a snow covered beach, in my swimsuit??
  6. '96 K1500 ext cab 8' box 4x4 GMC P/U, 250K miles and running strong. 16-18MPG GF has a 2000 Mountaineer, biggest POS I have ever had the displeasure to work on. 13-14MPG
  7. OLD
  8. Is WHO gone? Or is he still on first?
  9. I now have to agree with Scott. This old bike does need any help finding spots to corrode. But in my younger days I rode all winter in Wisconsin. I had winter tires and summer tires. The winter tires were the narrowest ones I could get on the rim. Up to about 6 inches of snow was no problem. Now I am old and have realized that I MAY be mortal.
  10. Thanks Squeeze, Option 2 sounds like a much better option. Now we need Dano to chime in with the rest of the info for cost, turn around time, and where to send it. I have applications that I use the type of clutch that you are referring to that have to "slip" at 20,000rpm yet lock up rite now with no slip allowed. Second question, I have seen many posts on the starter clutch refer to the 72th gear, the parts breakdown refers to it as a 76T gear (Item 6 on the parts breakdown in the tech library). Which is it, or are we talking two different parts?
  11. I was just going to order the same stock parts. I know nothing at all about this mod. So please start from the beginning.
  12. Dano Did you ever make that post about the Starter clutch upgrade? I couldn't find it. We are having a heatwave here, the temp is actually supposed to get above freezing for a whole weekend. I may actually go out and start working on this starter clutch, this weekend so that I can get my shopping list in order.
  13. Your doing better than a lot of deer hunters in WI did this last season.
  14. Just ignore winter. Here is a pic from the radio control New Years Day fly in that we had today. After all of the snow storms that have been rolling thru, we finally got some nice warn weather, it got all of the way up to 15°F for today. Yes that is snow and ice in Wisconsin on New Years Day.
  15. I'm game. I have a couple of projects for the bike before I can ride. Loud clunk in the starter and a slipping clutch. I will be ordering the parts as soon as (if?) I get my tax return. I may have to trailer it to the MD.
  16. Dumb (rum) Balls 1 bottle Stroh 80 Rum 1 8oz pack of pecans or walnuts (I prefer pecans) 1 box of regular Nabisco Nilla Wafers (don't substitute) 1.5 Tbs molasses 1.5 Tbs clear Karo Corn syrup Sifted powdered sugar Finely chop the nuts and grind the Nilla wafers in a food processer. In a cup mix the molasses, corn syrup, and 8oz of rum. Add rum mix to nuts and Nilla crumbs in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly , add more rum till a ball will just squeeze through your fingers when you squeeze some in your fist. Roll into balls of about 3/4 inch diameter, (they should be a little soggy and hard to roll) immediately roll in powered sugar and place in a bowl that has a lid that seals. I always sift some powdered sugar into the container to keep the balls from sticking to the bottom. Once all of the balls are rolled, go back and give each of them a second coat of powered sugar. You can not get to much powered sugar on them. Keep them sealed in the container or all of the good stuff will evaporate. They do not need to be refrigerated but keeping them cool will preserve flavor and potency. Avoid eating cookies and driving. This recipe is world famous in the radio control Helicopter world.
  17. Are you sure that you really want to feed the pond monsters? They could start to multiply.
  18. I don't need no pointy hooves tearing up what little life is left in my roof. I am loaded and ready........ MMMmmmmmm............ reindeer.
  19. Its those "might as wells" that always get me in trouble.
  20. Maybe in your house.
  21. The city just changed thousands of traffic signals to nice energy efficient LEDs. Now that we have had our first real snow of the season, it was determined that the nice efficient LEDs run so very nice and cool that they can not melt the snow and ice off of the lens. So now there are nice "efficient" diesel trucks and crews running around with ice scrapers attached to long poles to scrape all of the snow and ice off of the thousands of traffic lights. There have been several accidents already because the traffic lights can NOT be seen. I wonder if they are saving enough on electricity and longer bulb life to pay for the trucks and crews to be running around cleaning the lights?????
  22. I can only hope. I love lake effect snow where we can get 10 inches of partly cloudy with no warning. I just had to rub it in a little, here I am right in the middle of this "major" snow storm an nuttin to show for it.
  23. Another big blew-it by the forecasters. I went to bed last night expecting to have all kinds of fun playing in the 8-14 inches of snow that was being predicted for the last week. All I heard on the news was about this monster storm coming, the Great White Death, gloom and doom, dogs and cats living together, ........... Live reporters scattered all over the area, a reporter at the salt piles, reporters by all of the plow trucks standing by, reporters at major intersections, ......... Well I woke up this mourning nice and early to have time to deal with the pinheads on the road for my 20+ mile commute, and when I opened the door to leave there was nothing, not a single bit of snow on any paved surface and Maybe a half inch on the grass, and I did not find any snow anywhere on the drive in to work! I realize that there were some people that got hammered like Madison WI with 17 inches down and another 6 expected with 40 mph winds just to keep it interesting. I feel cheated. I like snow. Its fun to drive in. Yes I am a little demented. OK rant over, I'll let everyone else get back to digging out.
  24. I would not call it special so much as lucky to have an impenetrable immune system. Good luck with your interview.
