  1. The pipelines that serve the SE are at diminished capacity due to power outages from the hurricane. Stupid EPA regulations prevent sending gas to the Atlanta metro from surrounding areas because Atlanta uses a special low sulphur formulation. Your government at work!-Jack

  3. Wow that IS a nice bike! Looks like Yamaha has been caught snoozin!-Jack
  4. Here's a good resource. http://www.weather.com/outlook/driving/fallfoliage/regiondetail/nc3?from=from_ff_reg_txt http://www.weather.com/maps/activity/fallfoliage/southeastusnormalfallpeaks_large.html?clip=undefined&region=undefined&collection=localwxforecast&presname=undefined
  5. I've put 21,500 mi on the 07 RSV and here is my experience so far with tires. 8,000 mi: Stock Bridgestone Rear tire worn out at 8k mi. It handled ok but was a bit noisey.Replaced with Dunlop D404. 10,000 mi: Rear Dunlop 404 showing cord all around. That's right. 2,000 miles and worn slap out! Front stock Bridgestone worn out and showing uneven wear from one side to another. Replaced with Avon Venom X front and rear. Bike handled and rode better than ever with no roar or whine from the tires on straights or corners. 21,500 mi: Replace rear Avon with another Avon Venom X. Rain grooves in center of tire where gone and the profile was squared of. Probably could have gone a little longer on this tire but needed routine maint done so I just got it done all at once. Front tire looks like it still has at least 50% tread left. I ride about 50% solo and 50% two up. I keep a good watch on my tire pressures and run at the suggested amount. On the Avons I run the rear at 50 lbs and the front at 42 lbs. When I first got the Avons I called their tech service and they said if you run max pressure they will last longer since they will stay cooler (less flexing). I do a good bit of hwy riding but I live in the N GA mtns so I ride alot of twistys also. I'd say the mileage is about 50% hwy, 50% twisting country roads. This is my experience. For my money I will stick with the Avons until I have a good reason to change.-Jack
  6. I always thought it looked like a Tazmanian Devil was eating the tire.
  7. My first guess would be the tires. On my original set of stock Brickstones mine did the same thing. With a new set of Avons the problem was solved. 9k mi later it still tracks straight even at 80 mph with no hands.-Jack
  8. I don't think the main issue is wearing out the horn button. What the relay does is allows more power to get to the horn allowing it to reach full volume. There is less loss of current when bypassing the horn button.-Jack
  9. Yes they do work. The Venture has limited electrical output though. You should be able to run one set of vest and gloves with no problem. More than that might be dicey.-Jack

  11. Lewis, you and Charleen are in our prayers for a quick recovery!-Jack:337:
  12. My cords short out pretty regularly. The upper cord on the J&M is a pretty poor design since it plugs it horizontally which puts it under stress at all times when riding. They do have a 2 yr warranty though and they will replace them. I zip tie my cord to my mike boom which seems to help some in reducing the strain.-Jack
  13. Yall will be in our prayers Lewis! Hope she gets back on the bike soon!-Jack:thumbsup2:
  14. I'm sorry but a sticker (or a bunch of stickers) or a scratch is not gonna stand up court. Any decent attorney would get that laughed out of the court room. At best it would cause considerable inconvienience and expense to the scumbag. You would need something on or in the helmet that tied it directly to the owner like a name, ss # or something similar.JMO. -Jack
  15. Unless the vicitim had his name or ss number engraved on the helmet I don't see how he can prove ownership. Unless they have actual video of the guy lifting it. -Jack
  16. Yammie says to get power thru the ignition switch, put the fuse in the fairing and gives you an El Cheapo switch. A better way is to get power directly from the battery using a relay, put the fuse under the seat, and buy a better switch. This puts less strain on the ignition switch and allows you to change the fuse without splitting the fairing.-Jack
  17. Not sure what aftermarket sets are out there. I went with the Yammie lights and installed them myself. Saved $ and kept the bike from being in the shop for a few days. It can be done in a few hours if you know how to turn a screwdirver and can follow a simple wiring diagram. I would NOT wire them the way the Yammie directions say to. There is a better way and we can help you with that when you get to that point.-Jack
  18. If they've been out of sync since you got it you might not notice. You might just think that is how the bike runs. If they're badly out of sync you might notice lack of power, rough running/idle or sputtering. If you can't sync your own carbs then you probably can't tie your own shoes. It really is that simple. It's a 10 minute job. Equipment can be had for $100 or less which pays for itself the first time you use it. Many people use the Morgan Carbtune. I use a TwinMax.You also need a loong phillips head screwdriver.-Jack
  19. I was also at the StarBQ. My understanding is that the VMax we saw there was a "non-running model"-Jack:confused24:
  20. Sorry to hear this. Prayers sent!-Jack
  21. Oh well, I guess the cats outta the bag now! We've been trying to keep this quiet!-Jack:bang head:
  22. The last D404 I ran on the back I got 2500 mi before cord was showing thru. That is not a typo, two thousand five hundred miles! I don't blame your dealer a bit in refusing to sell you an inferior product. As a result I will never run Dunlops of any kind again if I can help it. Avon Venoms for me from now on.-Jack
  23. You have to enlarge 2 holes that are already there so it's not too scary. You should put a block of wood behind where your drilling so you don't gouge the fender when you go thru.-Jack
  24. Yes it should be a warranty item. It might be that your ignition switch is starting to go out. Check all of your other lights and your fuses.-Jack
