  1. They must have some good stuff to smoke up there.

  3. That is a pretty bike for sure, but does it have a tape player?
  4. Glad to hear you are OK.
  5. I agree, the Venture site is the best people I know (& some I don't)
  6. Lucky enough to work out of my house so really nothing. I have been riding quite a bit since the weather has been so nice and today another 75+ degree day. Getting ready to go spend another $20.00 or so as I will just have to ride today.
  7. Looks like a bunch of Houston riders I know
  8. Enjoyed seeing everyone. Happy New Year. Ride safe.
  9. Looking forward to seeing everyone before the years end. We will be there.
  10. Squid that picture of your garage looks like my new home away from home:safemotorcycle: Oh yea, I got a pair of Tourmaster riding boots and golf balls so maybe my wife is telling me to either go riding or go golfing but the big word is GO!
  11. I smoke lots of things, pork shoulder, brisket, chicken, ribs, turkey, and the list goes on & on. I use wood (in Texas there is not anything else) Once the smoke clears (let it burn for an hour or two before placing the meat on) I place place the meat and let it cook for a couple hours then wrap in foil for the rest of the time. This will let the meat cook in the juice and will be very tasty. Marinating it overnight? Try italian dressing. It works very well and will keep you from having to mop with anything. Let me know how it turns out and I will come on up.
  12. I have been thinking pretty strongly about trying one. I got 10,530 on my Bridgestone and just picked up a nail last week so I purchased another one. While doing this I was leaning very hard toward placing a car tire on here but for some reason I just did not do it. Let me know how you get along with yours as I know of several that have made the switch.
  13. I agree with Sylvester and the others. Just double up on the spring and keep on riding. At 45K my 07 started slipping and I bought and replaced the friction disks and the spring but the friction disks were not worn and had lot's more miles in them. Take the $ you save and buy yourself something you really need. Or use it for my present, whatever works for you.
  14. Folks are pretty knowledgeable here but you might have better luck with a GL 1500 forum
  15. My wife rides some with me and when I purchased my GW and after her 1st ride on it she did state the thought the Venture was more comfortable for her. She never complains about the GW (I sold my Venture) and seems pretty happy with the bike I ride now. I believe your wife will go for either the Venture or GW. Both are great bikes
  16. Not had that problem with them but then again, It nevers rains in Texas! Or at least not since I installed them in May of this year.
  17. They were 1 of the 1st items I purchased for mine. Safety 1st right? Love them
  18. Yes for all the reasons I have stated earlier. Loved both my 07 RSMV and my 80 GW.
  19. I had to oppertunity to own (for 1 month) both, an 07 Venture and a 08 Goldwing. I too had a very hard time deciding on which one to keep. I do believe the Venture handled the long haul better than the wing. It is a great road bike. The wide front end, larger tire, and the way I set on the Venture were all a plus for me. The wing being fuel injected, not as top heavy, and having 40K less miles than my Venture swayed me toward the wing. I do like the feel of the wing as it is very quick and can be a lot of fun to ride but the Venture just felt good going down the road and the cross wind does not affect the Venture nearly as bad asit does the Goldwing. If I had not found such a good deal on the 08, I would be happy to have continued to ride my Venture. It is a great bike.
  20. It was just like I ride home every day. That is one crazy person. I just can not imagine passing those vehicles at those speeds and a fraction away from a horrible ending if he misjudges any movement of himself and/or the other vehicles Would be a hell of a rush though.
  21. That is good news for a very good fellow. Drove through De Berry Texas yesterday and thought of you Lowell. Good Karma. Maybe I will get to see you in November.
  22. I have Murth mirrows on my wing and they are pretty much the same. I rate these high on a safety scale. I do believe the folks behind you see the turn lights in the mirrors.
  23. Sound like you had a good time but you missed the best Bar-B-Que as you forgot to eat some in Texas! Maybe next time
  24. Ride them both then decide. I had a 1500 for several years and several thousand miles. It was a great bike on the long haul. Rode it to the easst coast and back acouple of times. Very dependable. My 1800 is a great sport bike with saddle bags. Just as dependable. You do need to ride them both as they are quite a bit different but both have their +s. Good luck and let us know whhat you decide.
  25. It is so darn dry here in Texas, the earth is cracking! This on top of all the fires, AND 100+ days & days & days. Oh well Ricky boy has been praying for rain here and you see where it has gotten Texas.
