get carbs synced and check for a vacume leak, could be the rubber nipples and or hoses that connect to the carbs in the center, check them out, it doesn`t take much of a leak to get the popping.

I put just enough trans fluid in my small engine gas to change the color, I havn`t done it to the bike, but that gas really screwed up my new Cub Cadet rider, sure wish I had been using the trans fluid sooner, may have to try it in the bike also, but what a pain to try and take some with you, and if you use too much you foul the plugs Thanks for the post!

Working down the list
Kregerdoodle replied to MidlifeVenture's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
you can check the air filters with out removing the front fairing , probably eiseir taking them off though, I checked mine with out removing the fairing. I am sur that some one around you has a carb sync and would be more then happy to help you out with that.. get hooked up with some of the folks around you or attend a maint. Day, and they will gladly point you in the right dirrection on maint. good luck and happy learning.. -
Now that sucks.....I havn`t seen any yet, but I`m sure They will find me...

Welcome to the Family!! Your right about this place, you will never meet a better bunch of folks!! Yes you will need to get your bike off the ground to do a full service, greese the splines, ect. I beleave there is a thread in the tech area with a step by step, but it is no big deal, if you pull the drive shaft, that can be a bugger to get back in.. If you don`t find the post, then we can walk you through it. pull your rear wheel, clean all the greese off of the gear part of your wheel and there you will find a split ring, take it off, then remove the hub from the wheel, you may need a large screw driver to help with this, then get some steel whool to remove any rust off of the splines and the holes that the splines fit in to. use a good Molly greese like Honda Molly 60, you do not need to use alot, greese the splines and re-install all. if you are removing the drive shaft, remove the 4 acorn nuts, and pull the rear hub back untill it comes out. clean the shaft and lube. like I said getting it back in is a fun job, but doable.. I hope this helps, others are better at typing instructions then I am and am sure they will post also.. again welcome to the Family!! K
