  1. I triked mine so the wife could ride in more comfort. I divorced her now I wish I had a sidecar so I could take my great pyrenese along.
  2. I put the JC Whitney rack on back in 2000. Bad move. I got it installed everything was great. The next morning the trunk lid was cracked in 8 different directions. I had to get a new trunk lid. If I remember is was several $100 dollar bills that I paid for it. (4 of them if I remember correctly). I didn't put on another rack for 6 years. Then I bought the Yammy rack and installed it. The pucker factor was high. I had installed many racks on GW's with never a problem, but this one got me. I never figured out what happened wrong. I have been to Alaska and the roads getting there and around there are better than any good road in Oklahoma, and there is only 1 good road in Oklahoma, its just nobody can tell you where it is.
  3. As it turns out it is the pickup coils. I had to order them they should be in next week and I can get back on the road. I had to take a break and get a divorce in order so I can move on while the bit$h moves out. Happier days are here again, more miles and more smiles!!!!!! done deal
  4. Think of it this way. The mechanics and geometry of a hitch are to pull a trailer by the towing vehicle. When it comes time to stop the towed vehicle weight is now pushing the hitch. It is then going to push the towing vehicle in the direction of least resistance not necessarily in a straight line.
  5. An alternative to the Clearview is the Golwing riders favorite for years, the Tulsa Enterprises windshield. wider taller and choice of clear or tinted and sheds rain at 30mph just like they did on my previous ride a Goldwing of course, but I am a convert. I now bleed Yamaha blue.
  6. Last year my 2nd gen venture started right up as always. Pull choke press start, boom, immediate gratification. As the summer progressed, I would pull the choke press start, grind on starter for 5 seconds, engine starts small delay in gratification. Summer progresses more its now 100+ degree days, no choke press start crack the throttle grind starter 20 seconds engine finally starts. By the end of summer pull choke, press starter, grind on starter till I was ashamed of myself. Wait...............repeat, wait................. repeat finally starts. Then just as I parked it tried to start again......nothing but the ignition switch is on, the speedo does cycle through the checks, theradio controls all function. New fuel filter, fuel pump was replaced but did flow fuel as per the spec sheet. All lights function as they should. I did purchase a new TCI module as I thought that might be the problem and new plug wires. I am getting no spark to any of the spark plugs.
  7. Just dip the bulb in Sea Foam that seems to cuer everything else!
  8. Sorry but I seem to be having the same problems. the bike has always started never a problem. Recently I went to start the bike and noticed a hard start, I probably cranked 3 seconds more than usual. I also attributed it to the bike sitting more than usual. The next day I go to start it and nothing, zip, zilch nada. Lets start with the easy stuff first, changed fuel filter, then fuel pump as I already had purchased one in casr the oem died away from home. Then check the left rear spark plug, no fire there. Then I called in for dinner. I have a TCI on order should be here mid-week. anyone here got any other big ideas? thanks
  9. Canyon dancers were introduced to me when I bought a Honda Pacific Coast. I didn't like the looks of them, but now I'm a believer.
  10. I run 41psi inthe front tire, rear tires at 35 psi and the rear suspension (air bags) at 35 psi and the rear spring preload in the middle position riding solo. No problems.
  11. I think the sensor is probably fine. The gap from the sensor to the pulse generator on the drive shaft is to wide. If memory serves me correctly the gap is .078.
  12. I am seriously thinking that I will do this this fall. I will have 3 grandsons moving in on a permanent basis, they are 14, 12, 9 and have no developed skills other than gameboy Wii, xbox and nintendo ds. they are about to learn aq skill. I was wondering where you got the skin steel and what size you got and how easy to work with it was. Have Gun Will Travel
  13. I think that Fuel Injection on the GW and the H-D will almost always outperform the RSV, but the throttle twist, gear selection, wind, elevation, humidity and air temp, have a lot to do with mileage, just ask any pilot.
  14. Sounds to me like the air-cut valves could be bad. If the rubbers are bad on the air-cut valves go bad the exact symptoms you describe will occur along with horrible gas mileage. They also go bad with no warning. This is usually but not always happens with older bikes with low miles. That means a complete removal of all carbs with a very thorough cleaning. Also getting a lot of alcohol in the gas will deteriorate the rubber. Alcohol and rubber do not go together.
  15. I really love my trike but I have wished many times that I had gone the sidecar route instead of the trike. Maybe its one of those the grass is always greener deals. Anyways nice ride congrats!

  17. its a 4 wheel drive atv (all terrain vehicle).
  18. if you want to save a few $ on a cover get then extra large cover for the biggest 4 wheel drive like a kawasaki mule with the cab. It will cover everything on the bike from top to bottom. I picked one up one bay for $29 including shipping.
  19. I did change mine from 3:44 to 3:83 with no noticeable change in gas mileage, which was the reason for the change. Performance didn't change either. So when I had other issues and the rear axle necessitated change I reverted back to the 3:44. I have often times wandered if the 3:08 used by the GL1500 goldwings or the 2:92 used by the GL1800 goldwings would have worked? Should it be necessary to change for any reason I will change the ratio again.
  20. I am not sure why but thats the way we did it back in the 60's when tires were made with a directional arrow for front rotation and the same tire had another arrow in the opposite direction for rear. The only explanation was something to with the way the belts were wrapped. I'm no authority but only report I have had no problems with this setup. I also have a rear tire on the front of my honda pacific coast running in reverse rotation. The tread on a rear tire is 2/32 to 4/32 of an inch deeper than a front tire typically. Motorcycle tires are said to have stiffer sidewalls than car tires allowing less roll and deformation under stress.
  21. I am on my second tire on the front of my trike. The first one was a rear tire mounted in reverse rotation. It was a Michelin Macadam M50. I ran it up the Alcan Highway 2 times which is really 4 times up and back. Dallas Tx. to Fairbanks AK, and everywhere else I went for 6 years and 60,000 plus miles. I recently replaced it with a Michelin Commander rear tire mounted again in reverse rotation. Never had any problems. I was having a car tire mounted on the rear of my Honda Pacific Coast last month and the car tire blew out the sidewall while being mounted. Scared the sh*t out of the tech at the cycle dealership. They refuse to mount any more car tires on motorcycles. By the way the tire was a brand new B.F. Goodrich T/A radial.
  22. I never thought to ask if anyone had an extra antenna? But should anyone else have another FM antenna I could sure use one. The retail price is from outer space, you would have thought I had a Harley Davidson.
  23. Back several years ago we had charging systems problems on the 1985 Honda Goldwings and all the Honda Pacifiic Coast 800 1989-1998. The short simple fix was to break the plastic connector that created the plug connection from the stator to the voltage regulator rectifier then solder and shrink wrap all three wires together, seperately. In doing so the wires no longer and disipated heat at the plug causing the plastic plug to get brittle then melt causing a failure.
  24. I have one (rack bag) that I never use, I still use the one from my goldwing. Make reasonable offer if anyone wants one. email dotson85@sbcglobal.net
  25. This is proof there is more than one way to committ suicide.
