My service dog is for the post traumatic stress disorder. She is quite often the only thing that keeps me from twisting off. We need to go for a ride this snow sucks.

unless Motor trike changed they no longer offer a kit for the Royal Star Venture as I got the last one produced in back in 2003 I think it was.

I have been searching for something like this. I have a great pyrennese service dog that I must have with me at all times. I was thinking of doing something similar but putting a removable sun roof on the top with a windshield of some sort infront of the hole so she could look out without the air blast.

Maybe someone close to you will chime in, but in the meantime get yourself a service manual, and stockup on some juvenile, and adult beverages. I am sure someone in your area has done a carb clean and adjust and will be willing to help you do it. I only wish you were closer to me, its not that difficult a job. Every once in a while I see complete carb setups on ebay for $150 or less ready to install. If I were more enterprising I would buy a set, overhaul them and to an exchange program, but since retirement I can't seem to commit to anything but grandchildren.

Having owned both the RSV and the goldwing the goldwig wins hands down. Better mpg, suited my riding style, quieter, more accessories from the after market, etc..... That being said which one did I keep? The 2000 MM RSV. ! I can ride it and have many times doing 1000 mile days. I have to stop every 115 miles to get gas. The goldwing 1800 has fuel injection and will get into the 30 mpg range. The RSV only gets into the low 20's being conservative on the right hand twist, and can get into the mid teens if I get aggressive. I have installed an additional 5 gallon auxillary fuel cell which will let me go 200 miles between fill ups.. I have a physical impairment (fused right knee) that dictated I needed to have my feet forward rather than beneath my seat. So that is how I came to keep the RSV and I like the style better.

I have the Kenney cellset on my bike. Since I don't use the cell phone on the bike anymore I plug the gps into the cellset and it works no matter what mode the selection of am/fm/cass/aux/disc is selected as the cellset works via the intercom.

I am looking 4 lady that wants to be the backseat 1/2 of the couple riding a great trike to new experiences to new places. She must be at least 45 years of age and not more than 60 years of age. She must be adventurous, Knows how and when to be classy, and also needs how and when to be trashy. She also needs to have the answer of what do you want to do today? and where do you want to go today? I love someone that has a joke to tell about herself and one about me. Must be avaiable for fun filled weekends, or an occasional week here and there, spur of the moment is absolutely best. If you think you can hang! Look me up! Your photo gets mine.

Cruise Control Issue's , Worked Great Before.
HGWT replied to Cougar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
MY trike will do that every once in awhile. I then adjust the air gap the speedo sensor and the gear on the drive shaft. It is a real pain in the @$$. -
I have seen trailers at rallies that resemble 57 chev's, corvettes and 65 mustangs. These were built to be pulled behind motorcycles, they look like cars on trailers, are made of fiberglass, and they open up and are cargo trailers. I seem to remeber them being made in Louisianna but not 100% sure of that. Anyone know anything about them?

I to have the battery tender hooked up where I can just plug it in and not remove the seat. Still on the original battery starting my 9th year. I do think I will change it after Christmas just because I don't like surprises when I don't need them.

Bike not running right - HELP PLEASE!
HGWT replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got mine back from the dealer yesterday. Heres the skinny. The pilot screws (jets) were plugged up. Complete carb overhaul, new plugs, ega carb setting, and carb synch, undoing the Jason mod, hooking the AIS back up, $238 parts and labor. Having my bike running like new again PRICELESS.......................! -
Bike not running right - HELP PLEASE!
HGWT replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds exactly like the problem I had. I did everything others are here telling you to do. I fixed mine by taking it to the dealer and having a complete carb overhaul, carb synch, and ega setting. Mine is a 2000 with 62K miles. It had sat for 8 months while I recovered from bypass surgery. Get your checkbook ready & say Merry Christmas to you! -
I am thinking of tradeing my 2nd gen trike for a 2nd gen with a sidecar. That way I can take my great pyrenees with me on road trips. I can't seem to get her to feel at ease on the trike and she doesn't want to ride in the trailer she can't hear the tunes back there and she loves music. If you have a sidecar on a 2nd gen and may be intrested in a trade let me know.

As it turns out the final result is bad gas, to many months of non-use resulting in the primary mixture screws got crud on them. I tried the much on this forum touted "sea foam" miracle cure! The final results after 2 cans was zip, zero, nada.........not happening here, not happening now. Before someone gets their "sea foam" feelings hurt, it just didn't work in this case! I had to remove the carbs and do a cleaning, install new gas, new fuel filters, and new spark plugs to get it running again. However thats the first in 8 years so if it aint broke don't fix it.
-
So far a check of the following has yeilded these results: 1. Fuel filter clear and unobstructed 2. Air filters clear and unobstructed 3. Fuel pump operational 4. Fuel lines clear and unobstructed 5. The carburetor assembly removed and the exterior cleaned 6. The float bowls removed and the jets removed. 7. PMS removed noticable dirt on them 8. Dirt in the float bowls (as expected) 9. The clamps on the intake boots were loose. 10. the intake boots dont appear to be damaged 11.The diaphrams on the slides appear to be in good shape (no visible deformaties or punctures. 12. The floats are within specification within 1 mm 13. The float needle valve and seats are functioning as designed Tomorrow I am cleaning the carb assembly with compressed air. Then reassembly and reinstall all the parts and then a reinstall of the assembly. Checking the throttle position sensor The only thing I really find suspect to this point is the loose clamps on the intake boots. which would explain the slow deceleration (sucking air) and the lack of idle (sucking air) I will report later once all is reassembled.

Buy a new bike with carbs?
HGWT replied to keithert's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Still no answer to the question of how much to have a dealer clean and adjust the carbs, but I will find out soon I'm sure. -
You'll never be sorry you made the move. You WILL wonder why you waited so long.

Due to medical conditions most of this years touring was none. I finally got cut loose from the physicians and finally got my hands around the handle bars while my wife was gone so she couldn't see what was happening! I hit the starter and the bike started and was trying to run but just couldn't. It would only run with the choke engaged. When parked I put stabil in the gas and did everything I usually do when I know that the bike will be parked for any period. As it happened I was not able to ride all summer. Now I can do limited rides. I am thinking the carbs should be cleaned. It is a 2000 MM with 65,000 miles and never had anything done to it but change the oil and fill the tank. It absolutely ran perfect when parked. I feel like I have abused it by letting it sit for 4 months. I guess my question is how difficult is it to pull the carb assembly and overhaul carbs? Do the carb parts come as a kit or do the parts have to be ordered piece meal? Is their anything I should be aware of before starting this? I am not going to be doing the removal myself, the work will be done by my 12 yoa grandson under my direction. Any thoughts or input is appreciated.

Had it in my scoot for at least the last 3 tire changes thats 6 years . Never a flat. never low on air.
-
What you will need to do is split the fairing on the front and zip tie all the intercom connections together. I think you will find this will correct your problem.
-
I have a trike and from time to time I toy with the idea of selling it but then I would need something else to ride. Situations change, my wife rides no more and I need a bike with the sidecar. Wife wont ride so I could take my dog with me. If you hear of a rig with a hack Send them over to me, Maybe we could work a deal on a swap.

Repositioning Passenger Intercom Connector
HGWT replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just removed the seat and ran the wire where it came out in front of the passenger seat and behind the drivers seat . Then the plug is right in front of them and is easily within reach at all times. -
Is there a list of vendors somewhere?
