    balls

Thats right balls. Big balls, little balls, balls of all sizes and shapes. Thats what my 3 yr old grandson enjoys the most for toys. Nothing extravagant in a kids ball. It's all fun. Ahh, the simple things in life. Just surfing feeling blue and came across this happy BS on a health site. Seasonal depression, which medical professionals call seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, is depression that occurs only at a certain time of the year, usually winter. It is sometimes called "winter blues." Although it is predictable, it can be very severe. Boy if this isn't right on.. Come-on summer!
  2. Haven't dropped by in a while, and not quite sure why. Maybe it's because I don't seem to have much downtime lately... or because after sitting on a computer all day at work I can't bring myself to hardly look at one at home! Hopefully everyone is doing well, and hopefully at least some of you are able to get out and ride. I'm having withdrawals so bad right now, spring can't come soon enough. Anyone planning any exciting trips this year? I'm hoping my dad and I will get our plans set in motion to take a trip up and around Lake Superior. We talked about it last year, but scheduling never got worked out, and my mom was having problems with her foot and was in a boot for 6 months (that put a damper on her riding). Anyways, just thought I'd drop by and say hello, and hope everyone is surviving the winter!

    Why I Love Ontario ...

It's winter in Ontario And the gentle breezes blow, 70 miles per hour at 52 below! Oh, how I love Ontario When the snow's up to your butt. You take a breath of winter air And your nose is frozen shut. Yes, the weather here is wonderful, I guess I'll hang around. I could never leave Ontario, 'Cause I'm frozen to the ground.
  4. Is it me or has this been a slow year for noted winter projects discussions on the forum? Since I ended up doing my winter project last summer of replacing my transmission gearset, other than a planned cleaning and checking the bike out for some loose bolts, I don't seem to have much planned. I may try to get motivated and get my solid motor mounts made and get them replaced. RandyA
  5. No, not in my bike. I'm smarter than that. Okay, this is way off the topic of bikes & ridin', but the roads are icy, it's the middle of winter and I'm trying to get caught-up on my "to do" list, and I'm looking for a little advice. Last winter, I pulled-out a really old kerosene heater to see if I could warm up my garage enough to putter around with my bike (okay, I guess this is bike related). This heater hasn't been fired-up in probably twenty years. But, it's still in great shape and operates just fine. So, I went out and bought a few gallons of K1 kerosene and filled up the heater. Well, it actually did work well. However, when it was time to turn the wick down, it would not lower enough to extinguish the flame. That was a challenge. I finally ended up smothering it with a tin-foil cap. Anyway, someone recently suggested that my problem with the wick not lowering was probably because the wick was really old and needed to be replaced. So, I got on-line and ordered a new wick. I have my new wick all ready, to put in the heater, but a new concern has been raised. I read somewhere on-line that Kerosene doesn't store well and the quality degrades after a while. Well, I still have about four gallons of the kerosene which I purchased last winter, plus the remainder of what has been sitting in the heater since filling it last winter. The four gallons has been stored inside the garage in a sealed fuel container and I don't expect that any moisture has been able to get in to either that container or in to the heater. If we were talking about fuel for my bike and I had any question about putting anything questionable in it, I wouldn't. It's just too much potential trouble for the little money I could save by buying a few gallons of gas. But, since the mechanics of the heater are so much different than that of an engine, is it all right to try to use this kerosene I bought last year. Or, has it probably broken down or degraded to where it won't provide acceptable performance? I don't want old fuel to cause me any further problems. But, if I can use one year old kerosene, then I won't have to figure out how to dispose of what I have left - I'll just use it. I will wait to do anything with it until I receive some feedback. Your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks! Pete.
  6. I am still reading about the winter storms you guys in the south are getting and the havoc it is causing! Please take care and if you dont have to drive...dont. We came home last night from Winnipeg....normally a 2.5 hour drive...it took us 5 hrs. (we also stopped to eat). But even with being used to the bad stuff it still was awful! Take care and hopefully you are all ok. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

  10. As the leaves are falling and the tempatures are droping I look at Jacks bike sitting in the driveway and know that I have to clean the bike before it get put into the garage for the winter. We have used just simple green all summer long to do the regular cleaning and now that it time to put her away I want to make it look like the day that we bought it. So what is the best wax cleaner to make it shine. I have to get this done today before the hunting season starts on Thrusday because all my spare time will be out in the woods with my daughters. Any help will be apperciated Thanks Jessie P.S. No smart alleck comments about me having to clean the bike because I know there will be some lol
  11. Riding season is winding down for some of us. So lets hear it? Whats your winter project? I got a 86 to part out and a 99 to paint.
  12. Hey guys I am going to take on a few bikes this winter to paint and figured I would let you guys know first. Any member that wants some paintwork done will get 20%off my regular prices. Let me know as I am getting my schedule together for the next couple months. You can check out some examples of my work at www.bigheadguitars.com or at www.myspace.com/bigheadguitars or you can check some stuff out in my gallery as well. Here are a couple things I just finished up. One was a restoration job and the others were complet builds, but will give you a good idea of what I can do, check them out. Let me know and I will talk to you soon, Paul
  13. While I sure hope I have at least another 60 days of riding, at some point I must face the inevitable. This will be my first winter with my 07 RSV. With other bikes in the past I have done everything from gas stabalizer, to battery removal. I have left petcock on, I have turned it off. I have filled the tank and I have emptied the tank. I have also done nothing. Now I have a bike I want to make absolute certain lives for 100k+ miles. What do other Northerners do with their RSV iover the winter?
  14. That's another job on the moneypit done. Between the advice and freebirds writeup on forkseals in the tech library, Oh and a trip to home depot and sears, while I surely didn't get it done in an hour, I now know how to change the seals in the forks on a vr. Tomorrow is valve cover gaskets. Anybody got any suggestions? Trying to get the bike ready for a trip to south Ga the end of the month. I had been thinking about selling this thing this winter, but at this point, I think a coat of paint and a sattelite radio, and I might just keep her. Can't swing it this time, but I think next go round I might try to get in on the deal for the MAC mufflers.
  15. I put the 83 on ebay , so much for the Winter project. Need the room for a new toy. Pictures to come soon. No its not an HD yet this one has four wheels.
  16. When second gos out, about how many miles are on the odometer? I've got 38,000 on mine and second seems to be still going strong(knock on wood). I wanted to go through and fix it before it goes out over this winter.
  17. My mechanic has been a busy one lately. I’ve noticed that a lot of my friends also show up at his door asking questions, getting advice, sharing a story or two and making him laugh with some of their jokes. I just don’t know how he keeps up with the, now two, shops that he looks after plus his family his property. I sure glad he’s got some help with some of the locals. What bothers me sometimes though, is how long will he stay on. Very few of his customers pay him anything because he just won’t present a bill, he says it all from the goodness of his heart, and I believe that to be true. The other day though, I did leave him a little something so that he could maybe repaint the front door or maybe replace the chairs that we seem to have worn out by sitting on and watching him work. I’m thinking to make up a sign so that more of the other ‘locals’ will leave a little bit so that this winter when it gets cold, it could be a little warmer when we sit around and chat. I figure that with a little over the 3000 customers he has, we should be able to keep quite warm this winter. Yep you guessed it, MY MECHANIC is this site and if I need to say more this part will have to go to part 3. I really think that just counting the bike info we get, let alone all the other entertainment, comradery, prayers, support, physical help, and more, that we get from this site, we certainly would not want to forget to place just a little something in the donation box. Ok I’ve said too much, but it’s been on my mind and I couldn’t shake it. Now it’s done. Carl
  18. Winter tires. for my scoot .Winter came in early:crying:
  19. We had frost warnings here last night. Predicted temps in the mid to high 30s. I don't think it got that cold but I'm not even ready to hear those predictions. Just doesn't seem that I've gotten near enough riding in this summer. I pulled the trailer out today and got it washed and waxed and polished the chrome. Then put the cover on it and put it in it's designated winter storage corner of the garage. I'm not done riding for the year but any long trips that would require the trailer are pretty much over with. I tell you folks...there is just WAY to much going on at my house. Seems there is not enough time for Eileen and I to have any time together. I know I've not posted here near as much as I usually do but things are just hectic right now. As you know, Eileen lost her sister a year or so ago due to cancer. It really took a toll on her after being the caregiver for a couple of years. Now her mother is dying of the same thing and she is doing it all over again. She is really having a hard time dealing with it all so please keep her in your prayers. Don
  20. Hello, I am trying to track down the lack of turn signal on my 1991 I have checked all fuses and connections-the bike is almost skinless should I consider replacing the signal relay?-its $130.00!! The front "turn signal" lights are fine in a runny light condition-but no turn signal. The back siganl lights give me nothing-all bulbs are new I worked hard all winter to get the bike painted and detailed-just bought it last year BUT I can't ride in Cleveland Ohio without turnsignals Your input would be greatly appreciated
  21. Hi Folks, as i have read, there are some Guys, which might be interested in passing the damned Carb-Stuff out and go for a Fuel Injection System. As the Carbs and Strakes are not that big different on a Venture, it will mechanically fit and work properly on all the Ventures you use. Just the Mapping should be different, because of the different Valve-Sizes and other Camshafts. I know this Guy, which has an Injection-System developed and fitted to several Vmaxxes, from 1200 cc Stock-Engine up to his 1670 cc Monstermax. Works also on a 1200cc Engine with a Blower... As i heard these Days, they now have also a done Deal with a Distributor in the States .... Here's the Link to the EFI in the States http://wildbros.com/EFI.html If have worked on that System at a Friends Max, was a quite impressive Moment. I will upgrade my Max next Winter. As i'm not only seeking for the Gain of Power, i will not use the advertised Fuel Computer, instead i will go for the Full Motor Management, which comes which Lambda-Control and Regulation of the Igniton-System. This System runs already on a Development-Bike with really great Performance. If you are a "Save the Planet" Type, you also can mount some Catalytic Converters and run the Bike in perfect EPA-Conditions. It's just for your Information, i'm not related in any Ways to the People who are doing that Business.
  22. My bike 2006 RSV will be out under car port all winter with a Real good bike cover. i start it up every 2/ 3 days Do i need to do anything else? i let it run until its hot. tree
