  1. i need your help on this matter. i bought my wife a brand new helmet($80) to match the bike. got it out of the box and put it in the trunk she got it out and there was a big scratch on it i asked her when did she drop it she said that she didnt so i just blamed it on one of the kids. got it out again sunday and there was another one on it by this time i am getting real mad about it but didnt say any thing to the wife or kids. so today i rode it to work went to put my helmet in the trunk by the way mine is a half helmet no scrathes yet i look at hers again and i can see that it is a fresh scratch on it i looked inside of the trunk and i see paint on the bolts that hold the luggage rack on and i put 2 and 2 together. so my queistion to you guys is what did you do about this problem did you put some thing on them to make the problem go away or did you cut them down or am i the only one with this problem? by the way i gueess i owe the kids an apology when i get home.

  4. Hey Everyone.... Haven't posted for a while folks....vacation, work, just busy...BUT...I have to say how well the bike performed AGAIN...This past Memorial Day weekend...I know a lot here do this on a regular basis, but when the better half and I get a chance for an adventure...they are rare as I own my own business and wife does the nurse thing.... Live here in Lynchburg, VA....Went to Lexington, Ky to see the Kids and grandkids on Saturday..(We are originally from KY)...My idea to go...Wife's idea to ride the Scoot.......410 miles one way....Great weather over and back...Left Saturday AM....Visited on Sunday...Left and came home on Monday....I did an 1100 mile round trip by myself last year and 760 round trip with the wife to NC and the Dragon/Cherohala in October last year.. Just love the bike and just wanted to say so.....AGAIN...75 mps's on Interstate 64 through the hills of WV..Rolling hills of KY...and back again..Bike just rolled on....Wife loves it...and me at 6'5"...240...I just throttled on....could have set in the saddle most of the day except I had to stop and get gas and PEEEE!....Sorry...it is what it is...... Just wanted to post how much you guys/gals helped make up my mind last year (January) when I decided to buy the 06 RSV....It has done EXACTLY as everyone said it would... Wife also enjoyed telling her nursing friends yesterday that WE took a three day trip/ride on the Scoot and did a little over 885 miles round trip AND it was HER idea to take the bike.... NOTE: Added the K&N Filters and Chrome Covers and took to dealer for carb sync....(was getting a little backfire)..ANYWAY...backfire is gone, but I did notice a slight drop on mileage...maybe more 70-75 MPH's....will see how it goes on rides with speeds closer to 55-60... Everyone have a safe riding season... NOTE: Wife and I will be in NC....Dragon/Cherohala....June 19-22....Leaving Lynchburg, VA on Thursday the 19th....Returning the 22nd...I-81 to I-26....Asheville...on to Stecoah, NC....and Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge....Meeting up with two other couples from Charleston, WV that we went with last year...ANYONE in the area...we stay here.. WWW.IRONHORSENC.COM Contact me if anyone in the area then or wants to meet up and ride.... George in Virginia...
  5. Hi all, I am really a newbe here just a few weeks old, I bought a very nice 84 venture, and Loved it It was the most comfortable Bike I have ever owned. I just thought I would share this. Mothers day my wife and I decided to take a late afternoon drive, and about 4 miles from home Bambi's dad decided he wanted to commit suicide and run into my bike. Attached is a picture before and after the accident. I hope they come out haven't ever attached photos and I had to resize them. My wife and I have survived, just broken bones, and sore body parts. And one less Venture on the road sad to say.
  6. I'm going on a long trip the end of August, and I would like to be tracked, by both the wife & club members. looking for (in a word) a not so expensive unit. Plan on 6500. miles in 20 days
  7. A fellow worker has a V-Star 1300 fuel injection silver/gray for sale with only 1,300mi for 9,850.00 . So I posted it in classified for him he has no Internet at this time. Motorcycle is in excellent shape and still looks new. Reason for selling it is due to the wife not liking the seating for long trips he loves the ride but to please the wife he needs to sell it and buy another motorcycle for long trips. If your looking for a fairly new motorcycle at a good price this is the one!!! buddy
  8. just got back from litchfield. it was almost the ride from hell both ways. as bad of wind as i ever rode in, a little rain, and slightly cool, thought sure it looked like snow. saw one of my favorite venture riders there, roadkill. did have a good time when i got there. any one who did'nt make it, was alot smarter than me, lots of bikes, several hundred. i got hung up on this awesome goldwing that was loaded with all the bells and whistles. burgandy 2008,the sales men were all busy all day so i could'nt do any dealing. could'nt even get a price. i figure at least $23,000. fell in love with it as soon as i walked in the door. thought what a surprise that would be for my wife. figured i could leave my v-star there and drive back tomorrow and pick it up. spent a good hour and a half trying to get a price, no such luck. so i think while i'm waiting maybe i ought to sit on one just for the heck of it to see if it fits. guess what major disappointment very cramped for space. handle bars to close. no leg room, just did'nt have the best ergonomics. so i climbed on my vstar and headed for home in the wind ,$23,000 + dollars better off. good thing because my wife went to the mall and spent all my extra money for this week. fancy that. bill:2133:
  9. As I was headed back to my hotel today, I noticed a Midnight RSV sitting at the local Yamaha dealer just a few buildings down from my hotel. I stopped and me the owner. Very nice guy and he rides a 2003 Midnight. I gave him the information about our site and hope that he joins us soon. His wife rides also.
  10. Well, I have been having second thoughts about my 07 Venture for quite some time and finally made the decision to trade it in. My wife is starting to get interested in her own bike so I figured I could make this a win-win situation. Not so much. I had in place a deal to trade in my 07 Venture for a new 06 Honda ST1300 for me and a new 07 Honda VLX Deluxe for my wife. I was getting a very, very good deal from Toledo East in Toledo, OH. Was in the garage lastnight and made the comment to my wife that I have to get the Venture preped to take to the dealer. She asked "why"? I said because I'm trading it in for the two new bikes. Her comment was, "You can go buy me the one I want, but that one isn't going anywhere, it's too comfortable and I like it". So, needless to say, I said fine, changed the oil and installed my levelling links. Now maybe my first Yamaha will want to stay at home since my wife likes it so much and not want to spend so much time at the dealership getting worked on. The hangman's noose is put away and I have become re-dedicated to my Venture once again:) AND I don't have to be subject to the wrath of my wife and let me tell you, she has plenty of wrath to go around but seems to only spend it on me:) Hope to see some of your guys out this summer.
  11. Well I think Marcarl must still be in shock after my visit yesterday. My phantom wife finally met Carl ( Marca wasn't home) after we left Norwich Ont. for a drive(in her new Sport Ute) not the bike.(last minute decision). We went out to check his bike to see if I had an idea why his bike might be acting the way it is --but I wasn't much help. She said she would try and come to the meet & eat in May .WE also gave her a look around the shop. We had a good visit for about an hour or so and it was time for Carl to finish up his closing the shop and then go for a ride to check-out his bike. Hope it went alright.

    Golf game

Three guys always played golf together. They decided one year that the next Christmas they would all meet to play golf on Christmas day. They figured they would have the whole course to themselves and could play as much as they liked. Next Dec 25 they all meet at the golf course. They ask the first guy how he did it. He said " I gave my wife two airline tickets to Paris and promised to take her shopping there next month. I also gave her a diamond bracelet. It was expensive but worth it." The second guy says " I bought my wife a new Mercedes and a diamond necklace and earrings. It was expensive but worth it." The third guy says " you guys are nuts. It didn't cost me a dime. All I did was roll over, smack her on the ass and say " It's a great day for sex or golf" and here I am.":cool10:
  14. Getting ready to go to Panama City this sunday, this will be my longest ride so far. Went to Montgomery last monday, lot of fun! Took my bike in for the 600 mile service yesterday and noticed a noise coming from the rear, sounds like the tire rubbing on something. The dealers mechanic thinks it may be a brake caliper but Im not sure. The sound doesnt change when you apply the brake. Hope its not serious, I am supposed to pick it up saturday am. Also got my gps mounted yesterday, the folks at adventure gps in Decatur were great to deal with and had all parts in stock. Anyone know of a good ride around Panama City? My wife and I are taking 7 18 year old girls down for spring break so I know I will need to ride some to get rid of some stress!!!! They are all riding with the wife in her suv.

  19. Sitting near the hand of God now. MY wifes Dad passed away this morning at 6:23 AM we got the call that he had been called for a higher purpose. and now is no longer alone as he is reunited with his wife and they are together watching over us. Dic & Carol
  20. Got a 'friend' well I don't know him yet, but my wife is working on that seeing as his wife is a friend of hers. So,,, I got a friend who is supposedly 6'3" and is looking to buy a new (to him) bike. The reason being is that his wife likes to ride with him and the present bike he owns, although he loves it and it's a Yamaha, will not accommodate her very well. So how does a 6'3" person fit on a Venture? Any modifications necessary to make it comfortable.
  21. It's January 6th, 75 degrees and the wife & I just got back from a 150 mile ride. Life is Good...
  22. The wife proving once again to be the better person has ended her pondering and made her decision. She just ordered herself new 2008 Burgman 400. Myselfish is still changing my mind every day between RSTD, Venture, ST-1300, Burgman 650, FLHT’s, Nomad, and on and on and on.
  23. Well, yesterday I bought a new (used) vehicle. 2004 AWD Olds Bravada. Wow this baby is loaded. Never had a vehicle with so many bells and Whistles. Heated Leather Seats, Driver info Center with all kinds of things. Its gonna take me a couple months just to figure out how to use everything. Coming from a Ford Focus, so its nice to be back in a bigger vehicle again. I should be able to tow a trailer also, which is something I have wanted to be able to do. Wife and I have talked about how it would be nice to take a Winter getaway with the bike. QUESTION Has anyone ever installed any of the chips/modules that claim to increase horsepower & mileage? If so, what is your opinion or experience? Do they really work? Thanks for any responses. Jay
