  1. Were you on a blue VR riding southbound through Springfield, Colorado? Was it on Monday of this week? (03/23/2009) At around 11:00 MST? Did you turn westbound on 160? I was sitting in a Co-Way truck at the truck stop when you rode by. It caught me off guard to see a VR go by, I usually only see Harleys or Gold Wings go by at that location.
  2. Ok gave up on ford ranger, they are going out of production, and decided to small a vehical. Started researching Chev. Colorado, truck, found front end , and tire problems, and few more problems. Gave up on that. Ok, so started shopping for a Silverado!! Great, truck, and really good deals, but then I found out about all the brakeing problems, from about 2001 to 2006 or so, and maby 07 and 08. Rust on rotors, and calipers, and lots of problems with the actuation system. And the kicker, GM was stonewalling untill the Feds stepped in. I know, this is old news, but I guess I missed it. OK, a salesman at dealer e-mailed me that all these problems have been fixed, on the 2009 Model, Silverado's !!! Can I trust him, ??? Does anybody here have knowlege of Brake problems with 2009 to about 2008 GM pickup truck ???? GM was blameing it on Road Salt. Funny their trucks are the only vehicals that were effected by the salt on the roads. Hmmmm ?? I can't find any confirmation, that the 09 models have had the Brakeing systems fixed. Or maby all those postings on " edmonds.com " are bull ??
  3. The wife has 65K on her 05 Chevy Colorado with the 5 cylinder motor. Truck runs great but this is the third time it has been in for a engine service light on. GM dealer says even though it's out of warranty they will fix it for free. Something about a head replacement,Valve stem wear issue. The dealer says about $2K in work at no charge.I heard they were extending the warranty to 7 years or 100K for this problem. Has anybody had this problem fixed? I'm concerned about long term life of that motor. I would like to get about 200K of service from it.The plan was to run it another 5 years after paying it off and convert a truck payment into a new house investment. So much for a plan.Does anybody know of the I5 engines getting high mileage out of that motor.
  4. I'm currently in Process of purchasing a Horn for my new Ride and i stumbled over this Stebel Compact Truck Horn. This isn't for a Truck but the Frequency is nearly from a Truck Horn... I found Sound Bites for different Stebel Horns here on this Website http://www.valkmotorparts.com/products.php IMHO, this sounds very good. Might even give me one or another Laugh. I'm seriously considering this Horn.
  5. Due to current discounting, I am considering buying a Ford Ranger XL small pickup truck. As to the Engine, 2.3L I4, and the transmissions installed in those vehicals. ?? Also, considering buying a trailer, for hauling the bike south to Calif. to gain a few more months of good rideing weather each year. OK. I'm open to any and all comments concerning the Ford Ranger Truck, as to engine reliability, etc etc etc. -- Tear it appart for me if you have any information !!!
  6. Well I did it going to lease on to Transport America with new Semi. No jobs around here in Michigan so OTR I go. I suppose I will at least have a job for now. What do you all think of the new Truck? Joe
  7. Drove my truck to work this morning. When i stepped out of my truck I saw a guy standing next to a car wearing a motorcycle jacket and holding a helmet. Or so I thought, I looked again and he was just wearing a regular wind-breaker and holding a bag. Spring better get here soon. I need to go riding.
  8. Be carefull out there everybody. Although it was a bit cold today I decided to take the bike for a ride. Just after I got on the highway a trailer came lose from a truck in front of me. No big deal as I was cruising along and had plenty of time to react and move to the farthest lane. Heres where the fun began. After I moved over, a kid with his head in a cell pjone moved over on me. Says he never saw me. He put me on the shoulder of the road and almost hit the guard rail. luckily I had already slowed down or that would have been the case. The kid actually hit the guard rail. All of this was caused by the driver of the truck useing the wrong size ball on the truck hitch. 2 inch instead of 2 and 5/16. No one was hurt thankfully, but the kid and the driver of the truck got tickets. Failer to yield wright of way for the kid and failer to properly retrain a load for the truck. Please all,be carefull out there in a cage or on 2 wheels. I feel very lucky to be here now. I dont claim my prowless on the bike or the bike itself had anything to do with that. I just think my angels were looking out for daddy . Be safe and good riding. David
  9. A friend of ours are planning a trip to Florida in February. They are trailering there bikes down and plan on a week long tour. They could use a place to park a truck and trailer, while they enjoy the riding. If anyone has room in there driveway to store a truck and trailer and would be willing to help out let me know. Thanks Brad
  10. When Burgymon rode to work this morning on his scoot, it was 19F. Man, that's breath taking!!! I guess I am going to have to get some leathers and a face shield if it gets much colder!! I bet Eck wimped and drove his truck!!!!

  12. It has been a while since I had time to log in. Driving around the clock, non stop. This is the first day I have had a few minutes to relax. Alan and I are getting ready to leave for Germany tomorrow. Two weeks away from the truck. Yea !!!! I did not wanted to leave without wishing all of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
  13. New here, so not sure where is the best place to post this. I have an '09 RSV and am wondering how to rotate the attena so that I can lay it down. One is okay, the other is pointed towards the truck if you try to lay it down. I looked at it andf it appears that there are 3 differnet junctions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  15. Good morning everyone. I am starting a new thread because I have seen several questions on small jumper cables. I purchased a set during a motorcycle show one year. They are about 10ft. long and have nice clamps and a carrying case. On a 1st Gen. the case fits flat in the bottom of the side bags. I have even loaned them here at work to jump a 4cyl. or small 6cyl. car! Here is the link from Cyclegagets: http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item=BBOOST This is the same thing I have. I don't think you can build a set and get a storage bag on your own for this price. At least not unless you have things laying around. I like having them. Last time, I hooked them to a truck battery and just let it sit for about a half hour before starting. The donor vehicle wasn't even running. We then started the truck and then the bike. Hope this helps. JB
  16. After seeing a huge difference in what my dealer wants to sell a pair of tires for and what I can buy them for through Dennis Kirk and others I was wondering if there is anyone out there who does their own tire changes, and if so what you use for tools and irons to break the bead and mount the tire. Also I can't remember if the colored dot goes with the valve stem or opposite it. Now some will counter with "buy the tire and have him mount it". $50 to do each tire if I supply, $16 when buying his. I have changed 2 and 3 pc. truck rims and I have even done a couple of tubless 24" truck tires. I am concerned about damaging the rim with pry bars on the motorcycles.
  17. I was on I-40 near Asheville in my SUV and had to run over a truck recap.I had no wiggle room and hit it about 65mph in a SUV which did fine.It made me think if I would have been on the bike what would have happened.I wish they wold give truckers an incentive not to run recaps.
  18. Looking to get a Satellite radio for my RSV. Have heard that one is taking over the other but don't know which. My question is what is a good receiver for a motorcycle? Which receiver has the best secure docking station for bikes? Currently have XM on my truck but don't know if after the "takeover" which will and will not work!!! I'm showing how little I know about this subject so be kind in all replies.
  19. So I was on Highway 401 today (in the car) and it was pouring, and I was passing a transport, and those tires were spraying so much that you could not see anything not even the road, for the whole length of the truck and trailer. SO THE QUESTION IS. If you were on the bike DO you pass quickly ? Drop back and hope he pulls off ? OR What would you do ??? Rhonda and I were discussing this and not sure what I would have done, as it was bad enough in the car. MOst likely I would have backed away, but I would have hated to follow that Truck. BRad

  21. Almost. This is what I came out to at lunch today. I was parked at an angle to the curb about 6 to 8 feet behind a Black Ford F-150 pickup when I went in this morning. When I came out to ride to lunch, the truck was gone and my bike was laying in the street. There was a guy on a Burgman scooter stopped as he thought there had been a crash. I saw the guy that lives in the house on the porch and motioned for him to come down to the street. I asked him if he knew anything about what happened. He said his girlfriend had left in the truck, but she did not hit my bike. I said is was obvious someone hit it and I suspected it was the person driving the truck. He is a bit redneck with about a dozen piercings and he started this I am gonna whoop your a$$ stuff. I said thats' all folks, I am calling the police. Well, it just so happens the guy on the scooter had some real close Police buddies and he called both of them. In a few minutes, both of them were there. Our Company Security people came by, but they informed that with it being on city streets, they were not involved. So, the scooter guy and I start talking to the LEO and he says it looks like a hit and run. The LEO talks to the guy at the house and that guy gives him the girl friend's phone number and she tells him that she did not hit my bike. So the LEO says with what he is told, there is not much more he can do until he can investigate more. The LEO gave me the card to get the police report and if I find out anything else, to let him know. Well, as the afternoon wore on, one of the engineers I work with said we might have it on company video. I give Security a call and ask and the guy says,"Ya mean the one that happened at 11:29 that shows a black pickup truck knocking a bike over and driving off"? "I said that must be the one". He then said he would burn a copy and give it to Human Resources as he was not allowed to give it straight to me. I did stop by the security office and they showed it to me. I then stopped by the police station and asked about getting in touch with the LEO that did the report as I had more information. The LEO gave me a call and I advised him it was on video and I would have a copy tomorrow. The LEO called me a little while ago and advised he was at redneck's house trying to get some information. The right fairing took a hard hit and both bags, one from the bumper and one from the curb. It also knocked the light bar to one side and the headlight cover is almost a half inch off center. It bent the engine guard into the water pump elbow, but did not hurt it. So, we will see what kind of insurance they have and go from there. Even though this is all fixable stuff for me, including the ghostflame paint job, I know this is going to be a big hassle. Please wish me luck. The LEO that did the report rides a Goldwing. RandyA
  22. Sherry Paterson called at 2;30 today. Tom E was hit and killed by a truck. Will post more later.
  23. Got a phone call at work just an hour ago. My wife and I are headed to Madison in minutes. My mother-in-law had a stroke and is in St Mary's hosp in Madison. We know nothing about Madison and may need help with getting around to her truck and her dog at the Humane Soc. and what-not. Mom-in-law drives a truck so we will probably doing the Super 8 thing. Just to know that there is some one that can help us around will be a comfort. Thanks Bronson 812-256-5619
  24. Has anyone replaced their CB antenna? What kind did you use and what other parts do you need to do it? I looked at some at a local truck stop but they wont mount directly on to the old mount.
