  1. Went for cruise stopped in and visited Wizard765 and then across over to visit Marcarl . I totally enjoyed meeting them they are extremely nice people. The ride home however was chilly, once the sun vanished the thermometer fell big time. By the way Carl I did manage to wait untill I got home before eating all that jerky, but once I did I could not stop until it was gone. that is good stuff.:7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:
  2. it can make for great riding. The views just seem more vibrant than normal. But be very aware, you can be at a dangerous disadvantage in traffic for cars pulling out in front of you. We had a crash about 1/4 mile from my house yesterday where a motorcyclist topped a hill and was coming down a long slope coming to an intersection in the late evening. The sun was very low and a car pulled across in front of him because with the sun directly in her eyes she was looking and did not see a car coming, so thought she was clear. It cost the 59 year old motorcyclist his life. What can also make this even more dangerous is having your headlight on, especially on bright. The headlight just washes out the silhouette of the bike and blends in with the sun. So, if you are riding in an area where you have the sun directly behind you, you had better pretend you are invisible, because to many you really are. RandyA
  3. I was wondering if anyone can provide any recommendations around a good full face helmet. I have been reading a lot about the value of a full face versus the 3/4 and I am thinking about changing. Some areas of concern for me: venting wicking material liner removable liner headset capable liner sun visors weight safety rating I would appreciate any recommendations or any links to some good helmet review info. Thanks:confused24:
  4. Check out his handywork on his 2nd GEN Homemade adjustable lower vents Sun visor made out of a oil container And Bob himself
  5. I went on a ride with a goup a couple of weeks ago and there was a couple that from a distance, apeared to have tattoo's on their arms, On closer inspection they had the same tattoo's. They were acutally nylon slip on's for their arms to protect from the sun. Said they picked them up in Fla. I cannot find them any where. I have very fair skin and burn when I'm in the sun. Especially when I ride. Has anyone else seen these or know where they can be found.
  6. Have you ever been out riding and rode through one of those cool moist shady spots. You can instantly feel the temp drop 15 - 20 degrees and it feels so refreshing on a hot day. Thats the way it is at our camp. I sat in the front yard beside the porch and watched the Sun rise at 4:00 pm. The trees across the road cause an early sunset at around 7:30. I'm re thinking my plan to cut some of those shade trees before replacing the old house. I worked outside on the scoot all day in the shade very nice.We have moss growing all around the house instead of grass. I can't take the heat so this is a needed change. The evening sun turns our house into a bake oven in the afternoons. I guess you will find me at the camp.:cool10: MamaMo says she gets cold easy. Funny thing she came in Sunday evening laid down and sleep for 12 hours.:rotf:
  7. Looks like a beautiful weekend in Pa. anyone want to get together for lunch or a ride. Could probably do sat. sun. or monday. Not all three, any interest out there?? Craig
  8. In the sun. FINALLY!!
  9. Am looking at this unit. Anyone have one, and would like the pros/cons. Any other brands/models you can recommend that can be viewed in Direct Sun? i have aGarmin c330, and is useless in the sun.
  10. Heard a Gang of Hardleys going up the road today. Spring can't be far away. 60's and sunshine. How come the sun only shines on days I have to work???Warmer temps coming...

  12. I need new eye glasses and was wondering how those magnetic sun glasses stay on while riding. ? Anyone using them ? Are they okay or should I just get a pair of perscription sun glasses for riding ? Brad
  13. Do we have anyone living in or familiar with Charlotte, NC? We have a friend (My best friend's widow) who is planning to relocate to warmer climes and is looking at a development called "Sun City Carolina Lakes" which is just across the border in SC. If anyone knows the area, what are its good points and bad points if any. I know that is a pretty broad question but, have at it anyway. Anything you know about the area will be good information since we know nothing about it. Thanks folks. _________________
  14. In case you haven't heard, Mars will be draped in red tonite, followed an hour later by the full moon. Should rise in the SE sky. THis is the closest Mars will be for another 26 months, and tonite it is exactly in line with the earth and sun, allowing us to see it in red. Supposed to be seen by the necked eye! Mega Cool! Merry Christmas, Dan
  15. I forced my self to go for a ride it was frigid only in the upper 70s. I only went about 200 miles when I got home just before sun down it was in the lower 60s. This winter riding stuff is rough.
  16. Honest I did. I was in Cadillac watching the sun come up over the hills and the fog racing across the grass as to try to get away from the sun. The temp was in the low 60's and my daughter and me (jessie) we in a small enclosed camo hut in our lawn chairs waiting for the sight that would make our hearts race and our bodies start to shake....This was the opening day of Michgan Youth Hunt. with the sun cutting across the hills and the tempature starting to rise we were able to see what we had sighted in the gun for but he was to far away. With in a few minutes what we saw 2 fields away was walking right toward our blind. so with camera in my had and a 30/30 in my daughter hand she was able to take her first buck!!!!!!!!!All though this was only a spike he was still in full velvet. So the girls weekend out hunting proved to be a great weekend. We had only left yesterday and we are home tonight and the deer is at the processor .and the video to show to us..... [ame=http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z157/jackjess4/?action=view&current=Picture021-2.flv]Video of the shot that took the deer and the blind - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting[/ame] So I hope that everybody had a great ride and BBQ and I hope that everybody had a great day like we did... 17. Check this out! Saw these great covers at the Star B Que in Texas and purchased one, and I think it's worth your time. The web site is www.coveralls.biz, Ver unique and totally different from the "regular" covers we have all seen, and maybe own. These folks even have a cover just for the seat, for use when you get off the bike and leave it in the sun or rain. David R.
  18. I've been looking for a good GPS system for my bike and have settled on the TomTom Rider. However, when I looked at the user reviews on Amazon, they weren't very good. Does anyone out there have one? How do you like it? Can you see it in bright sun? Is it accurate? The price is right, but I want to know how well it works. Thanks
  19. Any of you RSTD riders use a sun cover on your bikes? I am looking at the Nelson Rigg uv cover. You know the half cover style designed to keep sun off. Any other covers out there like that? If so what kind and size do you use? Thanks in advance. kickshot
  20. Does anyone have a tank bag on their RSV? I am looking for somewhere to put a pair of sunglasses , without having to pull over, when the sun goes down during a ride. Any other recommendations are appreciated. Pictures definitely help. Thanks, Mark
