  1. Thank you, Freebird. It is your humble opinion that I value the most.
  2. So would somebody go out on a limb and tell me what the best tire is for my '01 Venture? My Dunlop 404's don't seem to travel very far.
  3. I've got around 8,000 on it and its looking about as bald as I am. Dunlop 404's are the only ones I could find with wide white walls - but I think I need to go with something else. Any recommendations?
  4. I read that it is not recommended to run two different brands of tires. My Dunlop rear needs to be replaced, but the front is in great shape. I'm not satisfied with the mileage that the Dunlop has given and would like to put an Avon on (I don't have the courage to join the "darkside" just yet). Any suggestions?
  5. :rotf:put long pointy ears on me and color me a dumb a--! Your solution worked. Ya know, I'm one of those guys that mechanical types tell stories about over a cup of coffee, then get good ol' belly laughs. Actually, I think this is the second time that Freebird has helped me out with the most obvious answer. The last time was something about my entire electrical system shutting down. "Check the connections on the battery." Was his sage advice. Duh! I'm so inept. Freebird, I'd like to meet you one day and buy you 1 or 3 beverages of your choice.
  6. I've been having problems with the original head sets ('01) shorting out and not working most of the time, so I replaced them with a couple of "Chatter Box" head sets. Well, here's the problem... the rear set can send but not receive (she can't hear a dang thing I say, but I can hear everything she says!). Consequently, the problem must be in the wiring for the back set. Can a person with little or no (me) mechanical abiltiy replace the back part of the intercom system?
  7. an awesome ride. The pavement is the kind with the embedded chat and it's real hard on tires, but the ride is well worth it. Went to Holiday Island (near Eureka) with a friend and we nearly got ran off the road by some youngin's with a death wish on their hot rod bikes. Passing on curves, riding the center line, etc. The ride south to Hot Springs is a great one too.
  8. That's the most inovative idea I've seen yet. I tried it and it works perfectly. I've been an educator for 30 years and have tried to get my students to be "problem solvers" and to "think outside the box" (I'm quite sick of that last phrase), and I now use this "cupholder" idea as an example. Way to go! In science we would call this an "elegant" solution.
  9. I've been looking for a good GPS system for my bike and have settled on the TomTom Rider. However, when I looked at the user reviews on Amazon, they weren't very good. Does anyone out there have one? How do you like it? Can you see it in bright sun? Is it accurate? The price is right, but I want to know how well it works. Thanks
