1) 89 VR. I installed 2 Amber LED Night Rider turn signals from Custom Dynamics for the Front. I followed Instructions and connected the three wires from each LED to the respective standard turnsignals. The LED wires were spliced in within about 1 foot of wire from the standard front turn signal bulb. I used a circuit tester to verify that I'm splicing into the correct wire. After the installation was completed the LED turn signals all worked as it should. The LEDs do not have parking light capabilities, they are just turn signals. When I put the 4 way flashers on the LEDs were not working. At first I was puzzled for I was expecting the 4 way flashers to activate the LEDs. Later my thoughts are that the 4 way flashers must activate just the stock parking lights rather than the stock turn signals. Maybe you all knew that but I didn't. Please correct me if needed. However when I put the 4 way flashers on and then switch on the turn signal eithor directions, both the LEDs work inconjuction with the standard turn signal in 4 way flasher mode. There's probably an explaination for this. So if someone can put it in laymen terms I'd appreciate it. The 2nd issue. 2) A week prior I installed a set of Walmart Platinum Burners with a switched relay powered by the Accessory fuse box screw. The lights worked great. So today after finishing up the LED installation I tried all various combinations and this is what I've encountered. The LED turn signals will not work with the Platinum Burners. a) If I have eithor turn signal running, then activate the running lights the LEDs stop. b) When I have the 4 way flashers on with the turn signals on also to activate the LEDs in 4 way flashing mode then turn on the Platinum Burners just the LEDs stop. The standard 4 way flashers work. c) When I have the Platinum Burners on first the LEDs will not work in any combination of a) or b) The bike has been stitting for 1 month with a 2 amp auto shut off motorcycle charger. The Bike is fairly new to me and so I have not had the battery checked nor the Stator checked. My 89 VR has 25K miles. Oh yes I've also installed a set of Stebel TM80 Magnum Horns on a seperate relay and they work great. I do not understand the issue I've encountered with the LEDs and Platinum Burners. I did all my testing with the engine off. Your thoughts please.

I could have sworn that a while back, I saw running lights on my rear turn signals...(Stock lighting). This morning, I noticed that the front signals had running lights (and signals) and the rear turn signals were just that...turn signals and NO running lights. I had the dealer do some warranty work last week (replaced the inner fairing and several other components)....and I'm wondering if something didn't get connected "securely". Can someone with an 08 RSV take a minute or two and check and see if the rear turn signals have running lights as well as signal lamps? I would greatly appreciate this sanity check!

The past couple of days my turn signals would sometimes work when the button was pushed left or right, other times it wouldn't work but if I toyed with the switch a few times they usually would work. Today riding home from work, they wouldn't work and nothing I did could get either one to flash. When I got home, I killed the engine with the kill switch and with the ignition switch still on. When the motor stopped running, I could hear a light buzzing noise somewhere near the front of the bike - at first I thought the fan might be running but it wasn't. It took me a minute to figure out that it's related to the turn signals. When I push down on the turn-signal switch or move it to center, the buzzing stops. When I push it left or right for one of the turn signals, the buzzing starts again but no turn signal. Slice the button the other way a little and the buzzing stops again. I guess it's more like a fast repeating click than a buzz. What could be causing the noise and the turn signal problem ?

Here's a few pics of the back of my V-Star with the added lights. Muffinman has already made it a big lower and I can actually flat foot it. Makes it a lot easier to hold up a bike too, imagine that. He made the turn signals into running lights as well as turn signals. I think it's pretty bright back there now. Margaret

OK...I have had the passing lights for several months now and I think I want to remove them. Besides them not even working anymore (may just be a loose wire), but I think I want to remove them anyway. I let my local STEALER put them on and I am thinking there is a STRAIGHT mount they removed that the turn signals were mounted to (when stock), and then replaced with this lightbar bracket. So am I correct to think that since they didn't give my parts (the other mount bar) back, that I will have to find one before I can go back to the stock look. Here are a couple of pics...the first one shows my bike BEFORE the light bar and the second shows the light bar AFTER the passing lights were mounted. Can I just take the LIGHTS off and connect the turn signals to the PRESENT light bar? Thanks for any help. Wally

Well I finally got my rear sequential LED turn signals installed and working properly. I had them done last year but never got around to getting them put in until this week. Now I just have to get the fronts done. What do ya think? Thanks, Bill

Just got a small catalog in the mail and had H-D, metric and Goldwing in it. I know not for everyone but I kinda like it. Now if they could do the same thing for the Venture and also have them for the spot lights and turn signals.... Halo

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be only 6 volts at the turn signals? I need 12 volts to power an LED light array. After installing them I found them to be too dim, so I put a volt meter on the signal lead and found 6 volts. Is this normal? If I jump to the battery I come up to full brightness. Any solutions? I thought about using relays but is that the best solution? If so what kind of relay should I use and how do I wire it?

I installed a Chrome Glow LED light Bar and it looks great and the brake light is great. My problem is the turn signals are only about half brightness. I checked the voltage on the turn signal wiring and only about 6 volts is coming through. Does anyone know why I would have only 6 volts to the turn signals? I checked it all the way back to the harness just behind the battery. Is there only supposed to be 6 volts to the turn signals and if so how to I get 12 volts to the turn signal wires on the Array?

I have a 2000 Venture and had it for a week or so. Thought the riding lights next to the headlight would come on automatically but they don't. Read my book and searched for a switch and can't find a way to turn it on. The PO put LEDs' on signals and the canceling doesn't work. I was wondering if maybe these issues were connected some way. The turn signals not canceling is an issue. I am worried about it from a safety stand point so need to try to figure out how to fix it. Appreciate your input. Bob

I am being told that either the gauge cluster is bad or the brain that controls it. I have to wonder which part "they" mean by "brain". I am assuming the block box under the fairing headlight assembly. Can anyone elaborate on this? The lights turn on, signals work, but no gas gauge, tach, speedo etc... thanks for any and all help.

I'm not real happy with my self canceling turn signals on my Royal Star from what I've read on other threads I don't think there is anything wrong with them. They just seem to cancel too soon or too late if I have to turn them on a second time. Maybe I will get use too the way they work as I've only had the bike a couple of weeks, but anybody else noticed they are a little quirky?

This entry in the news blog is a little dated, but, it sorta re-enforces my belief that the rear turn signals should be of a different color from the brake lights. I don't care for the run, stop, turn lights that are red. What do you think? NHTSA Requests Feedback on Amber Turn Signals

my turnsignals seem to have a mind of their own. some times they work, some times they dont, the hazard switch works when the signals work. seems to me, that something with the self cancel is buggering up. is there a way to delete, bypass, remove this feature, and just have the signals work from the switch? ive ridden for years, and its habit to cancel them myself anyway, id rather just have em work when i want em to. any help??

I have spent the morning looking through threads on LED turn signal options for my 2000 RSV. I already have the plug and play LED tail/brake light from Custom Dynamics, so am looking to upgrade the turn signals from there as well. I was trying to determine the standard bulb in the back and front turn signals now and couldn't get the bulb out. It's cold here and the rubber housing is like concrete. However, the signal casing indicates "USA #1156 #1157" on the front and back. Looking on the Custom Dynamics site, these appear to be two different bulbs requiring a different LED equivalent. I think that I would like amber on the front as regular turn signals and red on the back that would also double as running lights. Custom also has "New Moon Shinez" white driving lights/turn signals. Are these legal as turn signals if they are white (it says you need the smoked or clear lense cover)? Anyone have these? Earlier discussions on blink rate have talked about using load equalizers front and back but as I understand it they do accumulate heat and do not reduce the current load. Would a "Metric Signal Stabilizer" be a better solution? Suggestions as to what I should order would be appreciated. Thanks.

I plan on mounting a set of these LED turn signals onto my bike. Either on the sides of my saddle bag or my trunk, I have not decided which yet. They are used on the side of the cabs of Volvo transport trucks as as additional signals. Which means you can go into any Volvo truck dealer to get them. The grey plastic part can be painted to match the color of the bike.

A while back I posted looking for some stock turn signals. After a few members gererously offered up some parts I discovered a box of parts to truck/tractor lights that a previous tenant left in the basement. Between all the different parts I was able to make 2 working lights. They are double sided. I liked the look of white lenses in the front, but used amber colored ones on the rear. When they light up they have an amber center with amber rings. Here are some photos showing the led turn signals that came on the bike, a piece of aluminum I made brackets out of and the finished project. I'll have to modify the lower wind deflectors so those aren't installed yet. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk86/jason1gp/venture/IMG_1831-1.jpg http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk86/jason1gp/venture/lights_02.jpg http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk86/jason1gp/venture/lights_03.jpg http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk86/jason1gp/venture/lights_04.jpg

Curious if anyone has found an aftermarket lense for the RS's turn signals, like the kuryakyn deep dish bezles.

Any one have a set of front turn signals they are not using? Or know of a good place to buy generic bolt on ones that aren't to expensive? With a baby on the way my mods have to be on the low end of the price scale. The previous owner converted to very small leds and I'd like some brighter signals up front.
