  1. http://www.2-bseen.com Seems interesting, but does it realy give good visibility and how does it mount?
  2. Anyone have any advice or pics showing this battery gauge mounted on an RSV? I'd like to get one but looking for the best place to mount. Thanks in advance!
  3. Who is making the best, most versatile drink holder out there? What kind of mount would work for the passenger?
  4. Has anyone replaced their CB antenna? What kind did you use and what other parts do you need to do it? I looked at some at a local truck stop but they wont mount directly on to the old mount.
  5. I want to thank everyone in advance for all the suggestions and recommendations for mounting GPS eq. My navigator got a new TomTom for her birthday from her sister and she wants to mount it to the RSV. I have purchased a RAM mount for the TomTom. And while I think this is an okay idea, it would give her one less thing to be able to tell me how to do..... My question is, do I need to purchase some sort of tether for the TomTom or is the RAM mount secure enough not to have to worry about? If I do need to purchase a tether, I am open to suggestions on what and where to buy and how to attach it. Thanks again,
  6. If anyone needs another mount for anything. Check this place out. http://www.CustomMounts.com/ They have decent prices. I needed another garmin mount for a bike and they have them in stock for the Zumo series.
  7. I started my maint inspection today on the 99. How did I miss this. We removed the voyager kit Friday evening. I noticed today the jam nut, bearing receiver, and bolt assembly that screws into the left side of the axle support mount is broke off and gone. The suspension fork on the voyager side is rusted and the bolt break area axle mount is rusted so it has been missing for a while. Where the #@^! did I loose that at Florida? It was there when I installed the new tire last August. This project is on hold for a while. See the pictures.
  8. I was planning to buy the Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS .. and today I Looked for a nice Handlebar Mount ... but the most mounts that I find are for the regular Nuvi 200. Does anyone knows a place who sell nice handlebar mounts for the Nuvi200W.
  9. Anyone mount a side car to a 2 gen venture?
  10. In another thread I proclaimed my stupidity about leaving on a trip with insufficient tread on my rear tire. It is Sunday, and the M'cycle dealers are all out riding. I am stuck in Erie, PA. I can likely find a car tire, but am not sure anyone will mount it - or even let me mount it. Does anyone in the Erie, PA area have the tools (lift, wrenches, changing tools or machine) to change a rear tire. I can do the work if you have the tools. Thanks. RR - Jeff
  11. Well Ive been fighting with myself the last while as I am not totally liking the OEM cassette am/fm radio in my 85 1st gen . I really do prefer to leave things stock as the manufacturer intended, but i just cant seem to get the sound out of the system that I like. Even after having the casette player/radio rebuilt I still have trouble with sound fading in and out on the right speaker (new Pioneer speakers installed also). So tomorrow night with a friend we are going to install a Sony cdx-m30 cd radio unit and run new wiring for the audio in my ride. This unit will allow me to mount an ipod and a satellite unit in my trunk(with the Sony adapter cabling) and still be able to control the music at the head unit or with the wireless remote I will mount somewhere convenient. I have the blank OEM filler panel where the OEM radio sits so we are going to cut an opening into that to mount the new unit. I am going to try to save the original mounts and connectors if possible so if i want to drop the old unit back in it will be a snap to do. I will try to remember my camera tomorrow night. 12. Here are a few pics. I've got the Road Sofa torn down. I had to take the fairing brace off, in the last wreck, at the Dragon, I bent the left mirror mount.....this time it was the right side. Last time I replaced the fairing mount. I decided to use the old brace and the replacement to come up with one. After some careful measuring and cutting, we welded it back together. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1386.jpg Welded and time for some grinding. You don't need to weld pretty, you just need to grind pretty! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1387.jpg I'm only worried with the area that needs to fit the plastic cover. It's all behind plastic. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1388.jpg A little black paint works wonders! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1389.jpg It's ugly naked, but the lines are nice! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1379.jpg I can see making a custom out of it! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1380.jpg OK, I'll move down because the next few pics are of my road rash. Not bad, but if you're queezy, you might stop here! . . . . .. . . . . . . . . This stings a little! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1381.jpg This hurts to bend! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1382.jpg There might be a scar involved here! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1383.jpg Hey! I warned ya!
  13. I have looked all over and could not find any articles on mounting these on a Venture, I have an '06. I picked up a pair on EBay which are real left and right hand Hyperchargers from a Harley with a CV carb mount. I have mocked up the right side and the mounting is a lot easier then it looks. I'm waiting for some parts to come in so I can have the right side finished mounted before I start the left side. Now I am mounting these for looks alone and I have no intensions of setting these up to work as ram air intakes because I do not want to cut holes in the lower fairings and route the duct to them. The mount I have working so far is by using the original Yamaha intake mount and by cutting it down to basically a flat surface. After getting it to fit reasonably flat to the Hypercharger I drilled the mounting holes through it using the Hypercharger hole pattern as the pattern. Next I glued a piece of 1/4 inch rubber to the mount this helps cover the rough surface and will allow the 5/8 spacer (5/8" CV bolt pattern Spacer: J&P Cycles) something to seal against. You need around 1 inch spacing between the Yamaha mount and the Hypercharger to get the right side to mount without any interference. I have been looking over the right hand Hypercharger and I noticed that even if you bought 2 right side units (standard with the CV Mount) one of them can be converted to a left using a hot glue gun to mount the screen to the opposite side of the case. This is how they did it and the mounting hole locations are of no difference because of the way I'm mounting them. You need to buy the CV Mount Hyperchargers because they have 3 mounting holes and the back surface is flat and the bolt pattern is in a circumference around the hole. Once I have them completed I'll upload an updated install with pictures. Now as a side note I worked on least a 1/2 dozen different ways to mount these right down to machining my own adapters and mounts out of aluminum. After planning everything figuring prices and not counting my own time I found that buying the Yamaha intake mounts (SKU: 4XY-14431-02-00 $13.00 +/- each) and cutting them to fit (they are a rubber / plastic material) was a lot cheaper and easier, You can cut it with a hacksaw and then belt sand it flat. The CV spacers come in 3 different sizes 1/4, 5/8, and 7/8 from J&P Cycles. The 1/4 inch thick rubber I had but I did lookup on EBay and there is some 1/8 inch thick on the site and with the 7/8 thick spacer it should work just as well. Attached is the picture of the model of the Hypercharger I am using. I also have tried to lookup the left side unit (600178 number on the side of the box) and can't find it anywhere.
  14. I'm looking for ways to mount my Nextar Q3. I saw an add on E-bay for a mount that would attach to a 1" handle bar, but of course on a first generation Venture the handlebars aren't round OR 1" diameter. I could just use the suction cup on the windshield, but I'd really like something better. Any ideas?? How good does the suction cup work on a motorcycle?? Frank D.
  15. Hi guys. The RH dash panel - CB mount on my 87 VR is kinda trashed. Do any of you have one in decent condition you'd like to sell? I'm talking about the panel that screw in with 6 allen-head screws and directly holds the CB and the CLASS swing-up assembly. I might also be interested in the larger dash panel on the RH side, the one that the above panel mounts to and which holds the speaker. Thanks, Jeremy
  16. Guys, any idea where the best place to mount a Sirrius radio on a 2nd Gen?
  17. Well, I finally bought new tires. I lost a chunk out of my rear tire last fall in a tire eating pothole. It was almost time to replace them anyways. I've been so busy that I didn't get around to taking the wheels off until this past week. I stopped into The Hitching Post in South Saint Paul to see what it would cost to mount tires. It turned out they actually had the Dunlop 404 WWW in stock. So I hurried home pick up my wheels and rushed back to drop them off before they closed at 7pm. I figured I'd pick them up Saturday. I got back there 5 minutes before they closed and they offered to mount them while I waited. I was surprised. So what the heck I waited. Twenty minutes later I had new tires. Oh, and they had killer prices on the tires. The rear was about $91 and the $89 for the front and $35 per tire to mount and balance. Not bad. Yeah, the mounting are big city prices, but that's where I live. Still a much better deal than the last time I bought tires. So Saturday will most likely be reassemble day, unless it's nice outside then I will be working on building my fence. So I'm actually hoping for rain. I have leveling links, tires, back-off light flasher, trailer wiring and new exhaust to install. I'm replacing my Bub's with stock pipes for the year.
  18. I ordered a new rear tire from Dennis Kirk and it will be here today. My problem is I can not find anyone to mount it. Since I did not purchase it from them they will not mount it. They claim "insurance" reason. I can understand their un-willingness to an extent. All it would take is a "release of liability" signed by me that I would gladly do. They want to charge you $30+ more for the tire on top of the $40+ for mounting. I guess my only option is to buy my own tire changing machine. It would pay for itself in no time...
  19. Ok it looks like a solid motor mount upgrade may fix the wobble problem on the first gens. That the feed back I'm getting from the poll on the subject and other thread research. Is this a Yamaha kit upgrade or an after market product? What about cost for parts? Is this a winter upgrade project or a weekend job? Any Pros and Cons to the upgrade or is everybody happy with the solid motor mounts? I need part #'s.Is the kit the same for an 84 and 89?
  20. Bought mirrors from Drag Specialties that are sold for H.D. fairings called Pork Chop # 0640-0191. They will mount using the screw above the speakers and drilling another hole using a bolt and nut. A pair list for $90.
  21. We are taking a trip to South Dakota at the end of June into July and was wondering what were some of the good roads to take for some scenic rides around Mount Rushmore? We are staying about 16 miles from Mount Rushmore and will probably be riding off and on for three days in that area. Moakster
  22. I bought a tomtom one. I need to get a handle bar mount. There seems to be 2 different ones. One is a short mount that bacically aimes the gps unit straight toward you and a longer (taller mount) Which do you hace and wich works best. Thanks, Steve
  23. I have a 06 RSV. My sweetie has mentioned that she would like something like highway pegs for the back. I see that Diamond R has them. If any one has them mounted on a second gen can you post a pic so I can see where they would mount and how they would look. If there are any passengers willing to share their experience with passenger highway pegs we would appreciate that input as well. Thanks all
  24. I like the nice connector holder stuck on the gas tank for the headset cord. I wonder if anyone knows where could get another such stick on holder (a smaller one, actually) that I can mount on the other side to plug in something else? -Rip
  25. I had a 2610 Gps mounted on a 05' Kawasaki Nomad I would now like to mount it on a 1987 Venture Royale. Does anyone have pictures of a Garmin 2610 mounted on a early Venture? I used a RAM mount which I placed in the center of the Kawasaki handlebars but the Venture does not give me that option. Thanks in advance Dave
