  1. So, as I was driving through my neighborhood today I spotted a really sweet looking female Great Dane loose on the street. Nope, no tags either. Took her home, went back out and hung "found" signs and notified the local vets. Now the wait. Zeus is a little miffed but if no one claims her in 2 days then im keeping her.
  2. My '87 VR is for sale and I have been scouring the local rags, trader websites etc and every 2nd gen that I was interested in was either too much, mileage was too high or when I called the number in the ad, found that the bike sold a week ago and the ad hadn't been cancelled! So I'm driving around to numerous local bike shops and stumbled across a deal I couldn't resist. Next Friday I will take delivery of a black 2000 Honda Goldwing with only 21,000km. For you metrically challenged people, that's about 13,000 miles. It's really clean, not too much extra chrome to clean. Just needs a heel-toe shifter, which I will add soon. I'm smiling again......hope I can still come to Freebird's maintenance day and still visit this site. I know we joke alot and rib each people about what brand of bike they ride if it's not a Venture, I have to be honest when I say that this site and it's members are one of the best group of people I have ever met. I have made some good friends here and can honestly say that I anticipate still attending some of these events and keeping in contact. This group is full of nuts..........and I'm a nut so I guess that says it all! I'll post pics next weekend after I get her home.
  3. I've had my midnite Venture since 04. Lived in small town Ontario, and have usually been the only black Venture, or Venture, period. We've since moved to Amherstburg, ON, Canada, and it's another fairly small town, under 20,000 folks, most kind...the rest like me. Well, there are now 3 midnite Ventures, right in town, including my own. Wow, growing by leaps and bounds!!! One hangs out the next street over, and the other is owned by a young fella that works in the meat dept. and the local Sobey's. Yahoo.......more folks that I can discuss bikes with!! Life is good! I'll make sure that they know about the great people on this site, and how to get here to enjoy everyone here. randy:Venture:
  4. I'm considering a purchase this week of a carbtune pro from morgan directly. is this a good decision or is it better to go through a local distributor? If local any suggestions? Thanks, Big Mike
  5. The cost alone may keep me from doing this but I am considering it. I stopped by a local Yamaha dealership the other day looking for advice regarding changing out my Audio system. I use the AM/FM when in my home area and I use my Garmin/XM when out of the range of the local stations. I plug the XM into the Cassette player to use the speakers. As anyone knows who does something similar the sound is not as loud when using this method and according to the people at Yamaha there is not much that can be done about the decreased sound. Something about running one system (XM) thru the Cassette which will always play at a reduced sound. I'm trying to improve the system by looking for a FM I can listeN to at all times BY hitting a scan button. This seems to be a frutless search so far as there appears to be no system to replace the Yamaha stock system. The dealer even sent me to a local place that installs systems in cars and motorcycles and have been doing so for over 25 years. This place pretty much said I need to consider letting them take out the cassette and replacing it with a one piece system that does it all. GPS, Am/FM/CD and who knows what else. They would have to do some cutting to make it fit and a 7 in screen pops out when in use. When you turn it off it disappears back into itself. This system does not pop out for safekeeping. My question is: Will I be sorry installing something like this? Does anyone here have anything similar or have any suggestions? As a nearly 30 year police officer I'm aware of the danger of having something like this on my bike when I'm traveling and can't watch the bike all night when parked. I'm going on a 30- day ride this August and would like some decent sounds.
  6. Can somone tell me if there is a place for local riders in your area to post upcoming events, rides etc? We are heading to Naples, FL for Memorial Day weekend, and wanted to post somthing maybe we could meet up with some local riders in the area over the weekend Is there a place to post upcoming rides etc on here ?
  7. Okay guys I've followed the directions in the manuel and I can't get my intercom to work. I am getting the music thru the phones but when I click talk nothing happens. I did check the IC volume and left it at 10 but I still don't get anything. Should I start to look for a local teenager to help me out? I can't seem to get the CB working either and I followed those directions to a T also. Any ideas???? Thanks Josh
  8. Is there anyone within 150 miles of Many La. that can or will do a carb sync. I don't mind paying to have it done. I just don't trust our local dealers to do it right. PS Many is located apprx 60 miles south of Shreveport. 06 RSTD.
  9. leave it to me to manage to piss off the APA......... without goin into detail......some of the things( i posted about this the other day) he told me pertaining to the weakness of our case didnt sit right with me......so of course i went and spoke with the detective from the local LE...and found out some things he said were wrong....which upset the local leo's which in turn called the APA..... (this is the one that took over because the other is on maternity leave.) anyways now today after letting me know he was upset..:8:and that his relationship with my local pd is tarnished... he told me he is just filling in and the other will take back over when she returns in may.....hmm ya know what, if i could make him mad by this and he would turn it back to her....then this makes me feel like maybe he wouldnt have fought hard enough for us... I spoke to our advocate this afternoon and she told me not to worry about it.....I told her they all need to realize i am not going to be a passive bystander, if something doesnt sit right I WILL check it out....I told her, this is just his job, but its my life! oh well.....i guess im starting to believe maybe i am a
  10. Am I allowed to go up to the local police dept and see and read thru the police report from our case? Including the perps statement? I have not done this up to this point and I am now ready and wanting to read it... I just want to know before i go up there asking, want to make sure what my rights are on this in case they dont want to show it to me. can anyone tell me anything about this?
  11. Times must be gettin tough. The local small town bank got robbed this afternoon. Don't have all the specifics, other than they caught the guys. They made it about 60 miles away. As far as I know nobody got hurt. They never think that a small town bank will be tough, but they never realize that the locals know everybody in town, and can spot something out of place right away. Police got a great description and didnt take long to get them.
  12. I thought this was kind of interesting for indoor storage. A guy in my local town has one for his HD. 13. Saturday, I am putting my lovely wife and our 17 yo son on a plane to Phoenix. They are going to spend the week watching the Brewers and the Cubs in Spring Training. Wish I could go along, but some one has to stay here with the other 3 kids and the dogs - and to pay for the trip. I certainly don't think it will be needed, but is there someone out in the Phoenix area that would be willing to help if something goes wrong? Neither of them are 'professional' travelers, but they should be OK. I have programmed the airport, hotel, and all the ball parks onto the GPS they will be taking along. Again, I don't think they would need to call. But if something happens and we need some local info, will anyone volunteer to accept a phone call for help? Just trying to cover my bases (pun intended). RR
  14. just wondering if any of you guys have had to buy paint for a newer rsv-06- my bike had been dropped when i bought it last year and i have been everywhere looking for paint, even the local yamaha doesn't have a clue,i think they call mine very dark red met. but i can't find a code so???? any help -thanks
  15. A good friend of mine and his son that has a rare genetic skin disorder are up for photo of the year in the local paper. You can vote for them (photo C) on this page http://www.annistonstar.com/showcase...-8l20w4337.htm
  16. Folks, I'm in New Orleans downtown this evening. Looking for a family friendly local-flavor jazz restaurant that is reasonably priced. Any New Orleans folks on here who could guide us to a good local spot? We have a car so can drive somewhere here too. Thanks
  17. I think the US map that is colored with the states ridden in is cool. where do I get these add-ons? I also like the bar with the local temp in it. Can you guys help? I wanna have a cool profile too!!!!!
  18. Well,a group of us from my local triumph dealer, went for a nice 134 mile fall ride yesterday. Temps were in the upper 50's to low 60's and was a little breezy at times. We did a few twisties and rode along the bluff. Saw a lot of farm land and beautiful fall colors along the way. We ended up a local BBQ place in Sparta,IL. called South side Ribs:thumbsup:. Good food, great company and a nice fall ride. What more could you ask for.Well, maybe Bill and Allen H. to be there.
  19. Wondering where a good place to buy carb diaphrams for my '86 Venture Royal? My local dealer seems on the high side. Any help. Jack
  20. Well, I still don't have my parts, but I went to see the dealer saturday and he showed me his phone calls for the week. He has been calling the "painter" 40 times a day! The dealer called the local police and is looking to gain entrance to the guy's warehouse to get the parts. So, the dealer is getting screwed too, as he has told me that if we don't get the parts he will purchase replacements. I feel better knowing that two of us are getting screwed -- even if I'm getting the worst of the deal. I'm going to Kokomo this weekend for the Vietnam Veteran's reunion so it'll be off of my mind for awhile. I'm just so disgusted, I went to the local Harley dealer and I may make a switch just to get riding again and put it all behind. I'm pretty pissed, but not much I can do at this stage, but wait. I'll let y'all know what happens. In the meantime, thanks for the support and I'll be riding one way or another next season. Later, Chuck
  21. Has anyone replaced their CB antenna? What kind did you use and what other parts do you need to do it? I looked at some at a local truck stop but they wont mount directly on to the old mount.
  22. I heard about a 07 or 08 Midnight RSV for sale locally with only 103 miles on the bike. $12,900 is what I think the price is. Will check further tomorrow. A local used MC dealer has the bike. Anyone interested?
  23. She is looking for a certain shade of pinstripe. A local Autobody parts dealer said YOU WANT WHAT?
  24. I'm kinda POd and wanted to vent a little so bear with me..........today, I happened to pull over a guy on a Vulcan. What attracted my attention was that he had no helmet on and NY is a helmet state (No debate here OK??). Anyway...the guy had come over on the ferry from New London CT (CT is a no helmet state) and rode about 15 miles without a helmet before I saw him. We chatted for a few minutes and I told him he had to get a helmet on before he could go. Nearest shop to get one was about 15 miles away. I told him to call wherever he was going and have someone pick one up for him. I didn't write him any summonses as he seemed to be decent enough (Just kinda dumb since he didn't check to see if the states he would be riding through required helmets) and I left. A few hours later I got called to a local body shop (right up the road from where I had stopped the guy)where one of the mechanics had parked his Harley in front of the shop when he got to work and when he went to go home...yup...his helmet was gone! One of the secretaries said a guy who matched my guys description walked into the shop and asked if there was anyplace he could get a helmet. He left and she heard his bike start up and leave. I can't believe that this POS would pull this stunt. I guess he doesn't realize that I have his plate number, as well as his picture from my in-car video. Needless to say he has a message on his answering machine and the local PD where he is destined was advised. Hopefully they'll catch him wearing the helmet and lock his sorry butt up. The nerve of some people.

    Its Gone

There's no five year warranty here in Australia so you either put up with the whine or take a chance and pay for the fix yourself. The local Yamaha stealer wanted $450 for a new "I" basket before installation. I purchased one from boats.net in Florida which arrived here in Perth within a week and it only cost me $227 plus postage $40. My local mechanic charged me $100 for the install. Just gave it a test ride and the whine is totally gone. This is a cheap option compared to looking for another bike. Mine is a 2004 model and the clutch basket removed is a "G" variation. I can now turn the radio down a couple of notched and listen to that V4:happy34: Steve
